View Full Version : FYI - Walgren Q&A

As you all probably know we had reached out to DDA Walgren and asked for a Q&A. Today he responded to us saying that he's currently unable to do it but might be able to do it at a later date.

Although DDA Walgren didn't elaborate (and I didn't ask), it's easy to realize that he might be busy with the upcoming restitution hearing and any other cases he might be handling.

We will revisit this offer at a later date. A Q&A might or might not happen in the future - there are no guarantees - but we still have hope. :)

As a lot of you were asking for a Q&A with Walgren, I thought I will keep you updated with this post.

Did you really mean to say nonce? :bugeyed

You do know what that means in English slang, right? :mat:

Nonce also means "at the moment". So calm down. No offense was meant.

I'm not aware of Mirabella76 (http://www.mjjcommunity.com/forum/members/21107-Mirabella76)'s answer but mind there are not only native English speaking members here  so one may not know the meaning of a word in slang.

Hehe, thanks! :D

Since I'm not very knowledgable about legal things, I was wondering whether Mr. Walgren will actually be able to answer some questions that may be posed to him as long as there is going to be an appeal. Does the prosecution play a role in the appeal? If so, wouldn't that prohibit his ability to discuss various aspects of the case?

no. My feeling is that she's not really into discussing and generally lets/ prefers Walgren to talk. Our plan was if Walgren agreed we would send an invitation to her as well. It's still the plan. If in the future Walgren agrees, I'll extend the invitation to Brazil as well.

They file a response to the appeal. The appeal can take up to 2 years to be concluded. What we do with our Q&A's is we always give the opposite side to not answer. I always write "this is an Q&A and not an interrogation". If Walgren ever agrees and if I ever send him any questions I will say that he can refuse to answer any question for any reason. So he'll be in control of that.

As a man, I will prefer to ask some questions to Miss Brazil

Ok serioulsy, Walgren was perfect during the trial, so it would be interesting to ask some questions to this great lawyer who defended Mike . My first question will be why he showed the picture of Michael naked ? I mean why they didn't show just to the jury?

I think it's GREAT manners and polite to at least respond, even if the news is declining... Lord knows, just about everyone must have contacted their office and them for statements etc.

I understand that politically he wouldn't be quite ready to do this yet. He's a DA- just as Pastor being a Judge probably wouldn't think it wise to appear to close to the MJ fanbase for reasons completely understandable. It's been mere weeks. You definitely don't want to give any potential Murray defense any opportunity to look like you're 'in the Jackson's camp'- Chernoff already tried that in his defense argument- and Walgren blew up at that notion. If you're paid by the taxpayer- then you do have a number of items in your rules of conduct that people in the private sector don't necessarily have to abide by. Accepting gifts etc by the public. (I know, different issue- just mentioning it). Before Murray's appeal is DENIED DENIED DENIED and Murray actually served some time- before that I would not see them risk anything.

But it's awesome he at least replied! That's a little message in itself.

Thanks for the update Ivy. I suspect that when he is not so busy we will certainly hear more from him. Also... well into the future, possibly when he's not in his current job, he might elaborate on a lot of things that he wouldn't discuss now. ;)

Thank you Ivy. What about doing a Q & A with Debra Brazil? I understand that Mr. Walgren was the primary chair in this case; however, she did work along side, thus she had to be well informed on the case. What do you think? Sorry if someone already asked this question.

WOW, if only that was true... Q & A with David Walgren  oh and :clap:if it would be a LIVE stream...
Anyway, the ONLY question I would like him to ask is...

WHY did he 'agree' on the Manslaugther charge and didn't go for Murder 2
Then 4 years would have been 30 something :clapping:

Daryll748 (http://www.mjjcommunity.com/forum/members/5499-Daryll748), he has already answered this question during press conference after the sentencing or in 'In Session' program.. (don't remember exactly) and he answered that taking into consideration all the facts in this case, he still agreed to charge 'Manslaughter' instead of Murder 2... but maybe he would extend his answer a bit..

What I would really ask him (and I agree with Morphine7 (http://www.mjjcommunity.com/forum/members/87997-Morphine7)) is why did he/they decide to show that pic of Michael naked to the whole world? Why not show it only to the jury and to the judge?

he answered the same question during In Session as well.
as far as i know DDA has nothing to do with cameras in the courtroom. The second question more to the Judge and to the Family members (they could insist to turn cameras off while this photo was exhibited).

It will certainly be fascinating if he does agree to do it in future. He was brilliant and I am forever grateful to both him and Ms. Brazil for the stellar job they did in court. However, I've never been of the stock which swoons over him, so I'm not as psyched as I was when I heard Dr. Shafer was gonna talk to us lol. ♥ In short--I feel like an alien from Mars whenever I talk to other MJ fans about him, seeing as a good 90% of them have some sort of crush on him, and I clearly do not. =/

But, still, Mr. Walgren is a great man and he will doubtlessly have something interesting to say.

I completely understand that he won't do a Q&A any time soon. As long as the case is not done and over with I don't expect him too. But at least he did say in the future, so he is willing to do it. My guess is when this is all really 100% over and done with you can ask again and he'll do it.

he seems so busy, i can't picture him sitting down writing answers to all these questions.

Tedious. Especially with the financial issues they are having in CA
