Michael's Technical ability?

We all know Michael was a musical genius - Musically he could do anything with his body i.e sing dance beatbox and have whole compositions and melodies in his head. But how much of the technical stuff did MJ know? After all those years in the studio!!!!
Did he work the sound-boards use computers etc.?

Diane Sawyer and that guy who did the Access Hollywood interview from 2006 claimed that MJ knew his way around a mixing desk.

After spending 1000s of hours in recording studios I would think he learned a great deal !!
