Unlike a lot of people I actually think invincible was a pretty good album. But even saying that, it is by no means better then off the wall. I'm definitely gona have to say off the wall for this one

Awww.... no option for "I like 'em both because they're equally awesome"? :D

I dunno. Off The Wall is great because its full of MJ classics while Invincible is totally filled with new and current goodness. I guess on different occassions I'll like or listen to either one better. Thus having a fourth option "Depends on my current mood" will be better.

Joking.

I'm glad I helped Off the wall take the lead... it's shameful to say Invincible is on par with it. Though I have to say i used to be a BIG fan of vince, so i can se where you're coming from.

But you just cant beat the soul and funk of off the wall

I urge you all to vote for Off the Wall, and don't stop 'till the Vince voters get enough!

Invincible is awesome too, though. Tragically underrated.

When you listen to some songs on Michael Jackson you are really getting a piece of the man in the music. But even so I voted for Off The Wall just because I happened to be listening to "Get on the Floor" at the time and I was thinking like "I doubt there's a song better than this". But then "Speechless" came on shuffle next and I was like "actually, Invincible is pretty awesome".

Off The Wall of course! Not only is it better than "Invincible" but I think it's MJ's best album ever. I just love the soul/funk vibe on it. MJ was at his funkiest with that album. It's definitely his best dance album to date. There's not one song on there that I dislike. Basically, I think OTW is a masterpiece.

You can't really compare Off The Wall and Invincible, as Off The Wall is a far more superior album with much stronger songs and a more confident and powerful Michael Jackson, who was ready the shake up the music world.

Invincible is an over produced album and less confident Michael Jackson. My reasons for saying a less confident Michael Jackson are, that Michael Jackson did too much songwriting/composing collaboration. Michael sounds like a guest on his own album, who doesn't know musically what direction to take.

Overall Invincible is Michael Jackson in transistion, not to sure if he should or should move away from the Michael Jackson sound of 1979-1997. Every artist has there crossroads album, and Invincible is Michael's. I apart from the fact Invincible is over produced, it's still a good album with a number of hidden classics. I'd say Invincible is a real "fans" album. If your a true Michael Jackson fan, you will know and love some of the songs on Invincible.

I think if Heaven Can Wait or Break of Dawn were released as singles with new music videos they would be No.1 songs on the charts.

Michael sounds like a guest on his own album, who doesn't know musically what direction to take.

I think Michael Jackson is more aware of the shape of his music on Invincible album than Off The Wall. No one else could write and be courageous enough to put such unconventional and beautiful songs as The Lost Children and Speechless on their album. Even there are only two written by himself solely they are brilliant. And other ballads are also more mature lyrically than anything from Of The Wall. All music on Invincible is more versatile, and doesn't fit into any musical category. And Michael shows his voice here in so many incredible ways. That's why I'm impressed more with Invincible.

I agree with everything you said here. Between the two album's release dates there are more than 20 years. Music industry has changed, the music itself has changed, Michael has changed, his voice has changed. I'd say Off the wall was a very nice, fresh, cool dance album with innocent Michael who sang so smoothly. It's a classic album with classic dance songs like Rock with you, DSTYGE, Working day and night, etc. Invincible shows a more mature side of Michael which is obvious. He's a daddy, sings about love but I'm not talking about that love when a man loves a woman but what he feels towards his children. Maybe a lot of people think there are too many emotional songs on it. But I just love Break of dawn, Speechless, Heaven can wait, Don't walk away so much. They are really Michael's songs. Even You are my life and The lost children are really beautiful because they show Michael's inner side which is more beautiful and full of love!!! And Whatever happens is a masterpiece!

Off the Wall by far, but that is because as stated before Invincible was over-produced and there were way too many songwriters. If you notice the best songs on there were the ones he wrote, Speechless & The Lost Children  Break of Dawn, Heaven Can Wait, and Cry were also really good! If he cut it to a 12-13 track album then it could have been possibly better than Off the Wall but Off The Wall is just a classic, orignal, fun album! Every song is amazing on there! No fillers as Invincible had *cough*Privacy*cough* ;)

Off the Wall for me definitely. It's a masterpiece, and I enjoy listening to all the songs on it. As for Invincible, I only like a few songs.
Comparing Invincible to Off the Wall, is impossible because of the different eras. Some people don't even like the 70's/80's sound, and prefer the "Nsync" kinda pop music (MJ was probably trying to catch up with the new sounds in 2001), and there's too many fillers and only a few songs written by Michael. So it's two very different albums.

Off the Wall is the album that inspired JT, Usher, Chris Brown and all of the young artist of today. Off the Wall is the much better album

Much better dance tracks, better Mid-Tempo songs and slow jams

Invincible dance tracks are not very good

Invincible! I love them both, but for few years I've listened to Invincible like a crazy one! lol Simply adore this album. ( along with Historyyyyy )

But Don stop till you get enough and Get on the floor, are making me dizzyy with pleasure too, and PYT and Billie Jean from from Thriler, and Blood on the dance floor... Invincible and those are my favourites to get me in the mood of dancing, fantasing, jumping on the floors, running around the lamp, and finally fly out of the window and going circles around the moon!!! :*****:

I prefer Off the Wall over Invincible. I really enjoyed Invincible but it just sounds overly produced (which it should because it was the most expensive album to produce lol) and in a lot of the songs the music just completely overpowers his voice. his voice just doesn't sound natural in some of the tracks.

Also a few of the songs on Invincible already sound dated to me. Like they have too much of that "new millenium" sound that i've heard on other pop records at the time.

while for Invincible he only wrote 2 (solely) out of 16.
just sayin.^_^lol

but anyhow (back 2 topic)..its mostly depends on taste and opinion and plus theyre 2 completely different albums of diff eras (as neems said)...so this vote is kinda wierd. :P
IMO off the wall is better than Invincible 4 many reasons.
Off the wall is 28 yrs old,but It sounds really 'fresh' to me, way more than invincible.

Off The Wall, but it's not hard to choose between those too because they're totally different and the opposite of each other.

I do however think the lyrics on Invincible are better and more deep. They have more emotions and can capture a real emotional feeling, while the songs on the Off The Wall album are more to cheer people up and to dance.

I voted for Invincible.

It has so much diversity in it. That album had so much potential and it's a great shame that its gone under the radar un-noted like his more mainstream albums. It has genre's of music that could appeal to a wide variety of taste and personalities. It's a true shame that this particular peice of art doesn't receive the creibility that it derserves.

There's simply no denying that Off The Wall deserves its own credits on its own merit. This album is unparalleled to almost any other album of it's time however, I believe that invincible has alot more to offer :)

I voted Invincible because even though some of the songs on it might be too commerical sounding, I think it has some of his best work on it, like Speechless, which I think is a truly amazing song. Off the Wall is a fun album, but most of the time I prefer Invincible.

i definitely have to say off the wall, beacuse overall the albim is amazing. the only "weak" song on the album i must say is "burn this disco out" and honestly if sunset driver had made the albums cut over btdo, off the wall would be rivaling thriller as his best work ever.

Off the Wall. The organic production, vocals, delivery, freeness of it all inspires me in every single way. The beauty of his first real solo project, and his carefree attitude throughout shines through. (Although he may not have been carefree, wanting to break out on his own with his own terms)

I love both because it showz two different sides of michael the "Off The Wall" alblum shows and calm michael and fun and the "Invincible" shows the caring side and the hard core pop of him

Off The Wall!! I love ALL the songs on that album. I think the thing with Invincible is there's too many songs on it and therefore some sound alot weaker than others for example Cry, Privacy, Heartbreaker, 2000 Watts. Although I LOVE Invincible, it has some of his best songs too IMO, I perfer Off The Wall as an album, and that also has some of his best Rock With You, DSTYGE, Off The Wall, She's Out Of My Life...Oh what the heck, I love them all.

My stereo likes Invincible, because the sound is second to none. Maybe not many know this but no album in history has clearer or louder sound then Invincible. That was Michaels goal. Listen to the album on a 300 watts amplifier and B&W speakers with the entire frequency range. The album is so heavily produced you cannot hear the songs in full on weaker systems. Ubreakable and Heartbreaker tear the walls down. Privacy bangs so loud the pictures on the wall came down. I got 10000 songs on my pc from alot of artists and bands, and noone comes close to the quality of sound on Invincible. Yeah I know, I am a geek on stereos. But as for hits, Off The Wall is better. But I prefer good sound over hits.

Invincible. I don't really care much for the style of Off the Wall. 70's music always irked me. I grew up in the 80's and 90's. I only bought both Off the Wall and Invincible last week, and I have to say that I really like most of the tracks on Invincible (i.e. Speechless, Heaven Can Wait, You Are My Life, 2000 Watts, Walk Away, Cry, etc. ok so I really like his ballads, lol) But I think my 2 fave albums of his are Dangerous and HIStory. But I really thoroughly enjoy most of Thriller and Bad, as well.

LOL there is no need for a poll for this, Off the Wall wins, its a classic. As much as I do like invincible it was Michael's weakest album on the real, it deserved alot more credit BUT its out of "Off the wall"'s league. I wouldn't of compared those albums, its just no comparision.

I was born in 86, and I WISH music still sounded like OTW! I wasn't around for the 70's, but OTW is a MASTERPIECE! I don't think it's completely remniscent of that era..I think it's timeless!!!! I am in looove with OTW! lol!

I disagree. Off the Wall is pure perfection. I

Off the Wall was Michael showing his true potential as a solo artist. The melodies, the composure, the lyrics - everything about that record is mesmerizing. It's almost 30 years old (wow), but it still sounds better than anything out there today. Starting the album off with Don't Stop Til' You Get Enough was amazing. From then on it only gets better.
I can't help it - one of my favourites off the album, and by Michael of all time. Written by Stevie and so beautifully sung by Michael.
Rock With You, of course we all know and love that song.
Get on the floor - classic!!!!!
I could go on and on - but I won't:agree:

Off the wall is more than a classic album, its so underrated its unreal - but I'm glad alot of the performers out today let it be known that Off the Wall is one of their greatest inspirations.

Invincible is my choice. I love ALL the songs on Off the Wall and ALL the songs on Invincible. But Off the Wall has a kind of Disco style on many of the songs, which don't fit me very well.

People say "invincible is no comparison" but I beg to differ. I love comparing these albums - they're from both ends of his career, and thus are very very different, and yet you still get that good old Michael magic in each ;) Sorry, but people who say invincible is uncomparable to Off the wall are blind - how can you deny the beauty of songs like Unbreakable, Privacy, You Rock My World, Heaven Can Wait (;)) and Break of Dawn? I love Off The Wall for the classics like DSTYGE, but I love Invincible for other songs, ESPECIALLY PRIVACY!!!!! So I'm gonna vote Invincible, cause as much as I like the groovy 70s feel of Off The Wall, Invincible just appeals to me a lot more as it has more "beatz" ;). Go vince!

MoonGlider
22-07-2009, 07:25 PM
I like some songs on Invincible a lot, but off the Wall is a stronger album overall. A few Invincible songs sound overproduced to the point where they sound the same. Also, each of Michael's albums seem to have its own tone (Off the Wall is groovy and casual, Dangerous edgy but sensual, History angry and passionate, etc,) and and Invincible's tone just seems weird and inconsistent to me. Half the songs are very aggressive and half are very sentimental. Oddly, the album does not sound as diverse or as cohesive as his other albums.

Argghh... that was tough cause i love both records for different reasons.
Had to go with old school though cause i was a teen with a mad Michael crush and when OTW came out i was first one to get my hands on that album. My friends and i had a blast playing that record over and over we definitely couldnt stop till we got enough : )
Even as a kid i understood this record was a masterpiece and as others have pointed out here it still sounds just as good today. It was a mature SEXY Michael puttin the world on notice like im here and im rasing the bar...
Oh and lets not forget how gorgeous he was singing Rock With You- he never looked so happy and joyful so young and simply beautiful.
Ok having said all that i do love Invincible. Michael still standing and showing how strong he was. So complex so much range of emotion. Still sexy but more
sophisticated. Love them both!
