Of course he is, all reports show that he is behind so his campaign is doing anything to get last minute votes.

yeah something about Cubans should get out there and vote for McCain. It was on CNN but i was busy doing somethingelse though. Some lady was talking and saying how Cubans should vote for Mccain..

If Obama doesn't win, I will forever blame racism for it.

I'm not one to talk politics but in this case the right choice if out there for everyone to see, and if people can't, well that sucks for us, cuz it'll have an effect on everyone, american or not.

Bob George

Results so far....

Indiana
McCain 50%
Obama 49%

Kentucky
McCain 52%
Obama 47%

New Hampshire
Obama 67%
McCain 33%

Maine
Obama 67%
McCain 33%

Long way to go but before these states come close to being called for either candidate. A lot of votes to be counted yet.

here's a weird question late into the game, but do americans only have a choice between voting for democrats or republicans?

cause here you can vote for the two main parties, or an independent candidate, or the "greens" etc

Bee
04-11-2008, 11:09 PM
Right now, six states are closed with the voting. They are: Kentucky, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, Indiana, Georgia. McCain has Kentucky and Obama has Vermont. They both need 270 electrial votes to win. Now, I am just updating as much as I can. I know that some of you guys already posted some things. The rest of the states that are closed, so far, have no given up the stats yet. Keep in mind the batterground states. They are IMPORTANT. Let me get more info and BTW, I got the info from ABC News.

here's a weird question late into the game, but do americans only have a choice between voting for democrats or republicans?

Hmmm, I think they do. I know that when I voted for Barack, I could not vote for a person who was republican running for the senate. Now. I used the electronic ones, not the paper kind to vote so I can only speak for myself. I hope that helps.

I forgot to add, if you guys are curisou about the electrioal votes for the six states:

Kentucky (KY) - ?

Vermont (VT) - 3

Virginia (VA) - 13

Indiana (IN) - 11

Georgia (GA) - 15

South Carolina (SC) - 8

Bob George

Fox News has projected McCain as the winner of Kentucky and Obama as the winner of Vermont.

Bee

Six states to look out for:

Indiana (IN)

Virginia (VA)

North Carolina (NC)

Ohio (OH)

Florida (FL)

Pennsylvania (PA)

So far, from what I am seeing, Obama is not leading in Virginia and Florida, so far. Keep in mind, the polls are still open in some of the states which includes Florida so anything can happen.

Forgot to add that in my state, Pennsylvania (PA), a suit is being filed over PA ballots according to Fox News.

Its going to be a long night. I need to find something to do to keep my mind busy for awhile until things start being official. I hate when they use projected results...I really do. Wasn't that the problem last election? That one of the stations said one person won but they really didn't.

I wish I was in New York right now though. There are going to be about a Million people outside awaiting the results and a shot at History!

I wish I could be a part of that.

The results are just now coming in in the swing-state of Virginia.

I voted; I gave as much as I could afford, and I volunteered. Worked the front-desk at our local Obama office today, and in past weeks have worked as much as I could as a volunteer. The excitement in the office was incredible. If Obama does not carry the state of Virginia, all I can say now is that I did my best, in my small way and I'll have to be at peace with that. I DID try, and I worked my heart out. That has to count for something?

I suggest prayer now, or whatever you do for positive energy?

Yes things right now are basically going as expected its far too early to be too worried. We're only in hour number one lol. I have started to worry for some reason not because of these early results just because I wonder if this country really is ready for change....we'll see by the end of the night.

...This is why I'm now going to find something to do for awhile. Theres no sense in worrying this early.

And as someone said earlier. If Obama does not win, I will always blame it on racist.

However, Fox News is showing 81 for Obama and 39 for McCain. Either they did not get all of the information yet or Fox News is fooling with people.

gloomy reactions of McCain crowd to PA ===> priceless.

Not only priceless but of hiralrity (sp). LOL. My local news interviewed the McCain headquarters in Drexel Hill, Pa (surburbs of Philadelphia) and one the the reps on there basically said that NBC News got it wrong regarding the fact that Obama won Pennsylvania. Isn't that some funny stuff? Denial is of something special with some folks.

lol @ VA and NC. Going in to the election everyone though VA would go to Obama and NC would go to McCain. At the moment it's looks like the opposite might happen. Strange. But's the good for Obama because NC is the state with more EVs.

Though I'm not watching, the ONLY reason why I'd trust Fox News (which is rare) is because they were the first to really call Bush in 2000, and they were pretty sure in 2004. If they are the first to call Obama President-Elect, I'd believe it LONG before I believe any other station...although this will be the first time in quite a while that we might actually be hearing those words before 12am EST. Call Ohio for Obama and it is pretty much over for McCain.

So, that is one of the states to really pay attention to. Also, I think Obama is the first democrat to win Ohio in many years. So his win in Ohio is beyond major. Key win for Obama | 9:24 p.m.

Obama wins the battleground state of Ohio and its 20 electoral votes (AP). Heading into the election, Obama led McCain by 7 points. Ohio was considered a must-win state for McCain. However, the Obama campaign flooded the state with volunteers in March, specifically rural and suburban regions. Obama had 82 offices in Ohio, more than double the number McCain had. Ohio has voted for the winning presidential candidate in every election since 1964. According to NBC, Obama has a considerable lead in electoral votes: 200 to McCain's 90.

McCain has won North Dakota and Louisiana, totaling 12 more electoral votes (AP). ABC and CBS project McCain will win the big state of Texas and its 34 electoral votes.

NBC and Fox are also projecting Obama will win New Mexico's 5 electoral votes. Historically, the state has had close races: In 2004, George Bush beat John Kerry by fewer than 6,000 votes. In 2000, Al Gore squeaked by George W. Bush with less than 400 votes. Gov. Bill Richardson was a rumored vice-presidential candidate earlier this year and is expected to be a front-runner for a Cabinet position, should Obama win the election.

Obama wins 5 more states | 9:04 p.m.

Obama wins Michigan, New York, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, and Minnesota (AP). The big wins here are Michigan with 17 electoral votes, New York with 31, and Wisconsin with 10. Obama held a huge 16-point lead in Michigan's polls heading into Election Day. The state's hard-hit economy has been the focus of both candidates during the campaign. The last time Michigan voted Republican was in 1988.
McCain wins Arkansas, Wyoming, and Alabama adding 18 more electoral votes to his count (AP). CNN, NBC, and Fox also project McCain will win North's Dakota's 3 electoral votes.

Obama wins Pennsylvania | 8:42 p.m.

Obama wins the battleground state of Pennsylvania and its 21 electoral votes (AP). Heading into Election Day, he held a comfortable 10-point lead in the polls over McCain. Obama's campaign invested heavily in Sen. Biden's home state, with more than 60 offices throughout the state. The last time Pennsylvania went red was in 1988.

Obama has also won New Hampshire and its 4 electoral votes (AP). New Hampshire gave Obama the very first votes of Election Day, when he won the tiny town of Dixville Notch, the first Democrat to do so since 1968. The 75 or so residents of Dixville Notch began voting at midnight; the final tally: 15 votes for Obama, 6 for McCain. Since 1960, Dixville Notch has opened its polls just after midnight on Election Day.

ABC, CBS, and Fox project McCain will win Arkansas' 6 electoral votes. ABC and NBC also project McCain will win Alabama and its 9 electoral votes.

NBC and Fox project McCain will win the big-prize state of Georgia and its 15 electoral votes. Going into the election, McCain led Obama by a 5 percent margin, with 8 percent of voters undecided. Georgia has voted Republican in the last two presidential elections. Pres. Bush took the state twice, with huge wins over Al Gore and John Kerry.

Virginia and North Carolina are water-tight. Hard to say which way they'll go. Fingers crossed that both go to Obama so that he can wrap up 270 electoral votes early. If Obama wins VA, NC, CO and FL he'll surpass 270 electoral votes. So we'll know the official winner without having to wait for the west-coast states to be counted.

Cause people are either starting the party or going to bed...Fox just called VA. Once Florida comes in and if Barack gets NC, Barack wins before the West Coast can even give them their votes. I know people are playing it safe, but this night has been over for the past hour and a half. lol Toast to our new Pres and to a bright future!
