surprised at how hight its entered. all the other albums above him bar one were all new album releases. if those hadnt come out the same week heck knows where it would have ended up possible number 2.

FYI: in the week of his birthday, a famous radio station played his songs every morning and gave away a king of pop ipod every day and on his b-day there was a 2 hour special from 8 pm to 10pm about michael jackson

1 day before MJs birthday, there was a movie theatre screening in vienna's biggest cinema, a lot of people attended. at MJs birthday, local radio stations played his songs.

as a side note, as we in austria also receive german tv-stations, they even played on mtv germany (yes, those full of hate-mtv people) a countdown of MJs best videos and of course, VIVA (mtv rival music tv station and long time fans of MJ) did so too.

plus there was a TV-special in the austrian tv, so enough promotion to guarantee MJ would enter at #1 two weeks ago and still is at #1 the second week in a row.

MJ only had 1 album so far that was at number 1, which was "bad", but i dont know if it entered at one or only was #1 for 1 week...because all his other albums entered at #2 or worse in austria. but "king of pop" seems to be a huge success for him in austria, 2 weeks #1 is just so great.

and of course, all haters (there are the usual ones in austria too) suddenly keep their mouths shut. ironically, now there's no news about michael being number one, or michael entering the charts at #1 two weeks ago. not even sony austria sent out a press release like they did when thriller 25 entered the charts at #5, which they called spectacular.

i dont really understand the world media's perception of MJ, and even sony's.

no thats not true, they had some kind of countdown (TRL?) of the best MJ videos on mtv, i it was the main mtv station. i remember it in particular coz the countdown was interrupted by some advertisements introduced by this 3d-animation that mtv uses when they come up with advertisements, it was around 7pm on MJs b-day

later on on aroudn 8pm they came up with mtv news with their anchorman, but they didnt mention mj with one word, well at least they showed his videos before.

yes, king of pop has done very well here in the uk, the thiller vid still does dar better on itunes than it does in any other country, i really think there is a still a massive MJ fanbase here in the uk and he could do well in future, i mean KOP was basic MJ stuff that everybody should have, but it sold well. with just a bit knocked off the price it climbs so much on the album charts. not much to say about KOP really other than that its been a reasonable success chart wise
