apparently with calculations 8ohms and 200 volts would = 5000 volts
so too much of that fuse blown= slowing it down

pretty self explainatory now at least to me
When I first heard this song, I was new to computers and new to chatting/forums and conversing with people online. For me back then, I thought it was about that. I was so naive back then, but I'll explain anyways how I thought.
"you feel I'm real" like someone you are talking with, you feel they are sincere OR you feel it's Michael Jackson..lol.
"I'm everything you need so tell me what's the deal" pretty self explanatory but sounds like he thinks he's everything she needs.
"careful what you say, don't overload" careful what you say so you don't turn him off (not sexually..just in general).
"highpost lady
Shorty really wanna be there for me" Highpost lady sounds like someone who posts lots...lol. So..does she really want to be there for him?
3d?=in person?
Now he could have used all the technology as an analogy for other things I guess, or to bring the technology into it.
Anyways...I don't really know WHAT it's really about, but this is how I used to see it when I first heard it like...5 and a half years ago.

That's actually really good. I had to look at the lyrics several times before I found that there were people involved in this song, lol, so that's why I asked. It feels so disconnected and vague, that when you listen to the song you don't catch anything but electricity and speakers and stuff like that...It's a great song, though. I like it. It's different. Great interpretation. :)

I have to agree with mjsladyinhislife... I mean...
"Press play, don't stop, rotate, too hot" (C'mon, it's gotta be dirty!)
"2000 Watts, 8 ohms, 200 volts, real strong" (Hum... I don't know... What would be real strong?)
"Release two or three, when I reach I can go 'til I hit my peak" (Hit my peak?)
Ok, it's sexual. No doubt! :bugeyed

Well, I definitely think we all are right. In a sense it is about "electricity" and "power", aaaaaaaand in another crazy way it is also about "you know what ". *wink, wink, nudge, nudge! Say no more, Say no more!*
He totally fooled me. I never really understood the lyrics and never cared to look at what they were. So I just made up my own words half the time! Then I actually take time to figure out what the hell he is talking about, and the lyrics are simply undeniable! Very........sexual........whew, Michael! I mean, Lord! Some of those phrases! Whether you are attracted to Michael or not, they make you squirm in your chair and tingle all over!

Which is exactly why I don't like songs like "In the Closet", which is overly sexual. "Break of Dawn", on the other hand, while still a sexual song, is very romantic and tender.
"2000 Watts" is full of energy. I can turn off a sexual interpretation to that song if I want to whenever I hear it, because it's got more than one meaning, apparantly. I'm just not into the casual sexy genre of music. Michael is a sexy man, but I think he does an excellent job at whatever it is he does to...I don't know the word I'm looking for...keep it proper?? I don't know. he does something regarding that, I don't know what it is, but it's just different from lots of other singers and performers out there.

Well... many of Michael's songs do that to me! Sometimes because of the lyrics, sometimes because of the way his voice sounds...
I like sexy songs... explicit or not, as long as it doesn't get too far... But Michael knows the limit between being sexy and being vulgar.

I think I get what you're saying, mjroxworld, especially in that last paragraph. And you're right. He is great at leaving things for the imagination, and not getting so explicit in his music like soooo many artists like to do.
Not gonna lie, I am sort of attracted to Michael. Hey, after awhile, a girl just can't help it! And I agree with you too, Renata!
It is so not about video games, lol, theres nothing in there about video games at all. I'ts so about sex, oh yeh!

"You may now apply For your 3-D glasses"
"Bass note", "treble", "stereo control"
"3D", "feedback" "Dolby®"
"can I reach can go 'til I hit my peak"
"D-Lo"
(We're now prepared to take to you the next level)
do u put on 3D glasses, and use Dolby®" while making love? and how about the Bass note? which part of making of that can be connected with?
and how about D-LO?
and what could level be?
in the closet and break of dawn sure are about making love. lol

Welllll, I don't know how old you are, Michael'sGuardianAngel, but I can see where people might use those words to symbolically describe what goes on. At the same time, it can be very literal in the video game/electronics/music world. Either way, it's an interesting song. :)
Electronic world yes, video games world no. Hell no. No one wheres 3D glasses to play video games, lol, you could relate that more to the fact that the game is 3D, not that its red and blue. All the rest is about sound, Dolby sound, Bass, levels come on. If he said
3D, high speed, feedback, Dolby
Release PSP, when I got it took it back for Nintendo Wii
Compaq PC, oh no, its slow, im so lazy

Not everything is as straight forward as it seems, just cause the lyrics aren't as bland as 'im talking about sex', doesn't mean they aren't.
Its saying something without saying it - I totally forgot what its called.

Metaphors are comparisons that show how two things that are not alike in most
ways are similar in one important way. Metaphors are a way to describe something.
Authors use them to make their writing more interesting or entertaining.

Loved reading this thread, and I love 2000watts...Michaels voice....AHHHH
Anyways...my 2cents worth
If you go to this link http://music.yahoo.com/read/news/12033686
It tells you about about Tyrese's (who wrote the song) Watts Foundation. It seems that Watts is a city, but I don't know where or what happened for there to be a charitable foundation in its name:unsure:
Anyway, the song is well written which is why Michael liked it, and I guess, as with anything creative, each and everyone of us can interpret the song how they wish, none of which is wrong.

NO, NO, NO! not at all! 2000 watts is more of a machine song, like speed demon. This song is mostly talking about listening to music loudly, and plugging in high-tech speakers to hear the music and then blowing a fuse!
If you notice, this is a song to be heard loudly. Like riding in your car with it all the way up, bobbing your head (cause that's what I do).

There comes a time
When we head a certain call (booty call)

There are people dying
And it's time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all (MAKING BABIES!!!!!!)
We can't go on
Pretneding day by day
That someone, somewhere will soon make a change (Everyone is ****ing all the time, deal with it)

Which is exactly why I don't like songs like "In the Closet", which is overly sexual
Overally sexual compared to the many sexual type songs that are played on the radio these days? That song is tame.
Look, I think that 2000 Watts means s-e-x. I have listened to the song and the lyrics very carefully and it is basically about Michael doing the do. I always thought that the song was about MJ in the club and he sees this girl that he was feeling and he wanted to get his groove on with her. That is how I interpert the song. It was a very clever way of almost covering the song and talk about electricity, watts, volts, etc. so that people would not figure out what he is really talking about. I like songs like that because it lets the listener figure out what the song means to them.
do u put on 3D glasses, and use Dolby®" while making love? and how about the Bass note? which part of making of that can be connected with?
To be honest, people do all sorts or weird things when they are making love. I am not gonna post them because I am not that kind of person to go into that. It is very possible that MJ is talking about being in a place that requires a person to wear 3D glasses. The bass note, Dolby, etc. can be related to the music that is being played in the place or club. MJ might be referring to those things as what a person hears when they are in the club. It doesn't really have to do with sex.
can I reach can go 'til I hit my peak"
"D-Lo"
That part is basically self explanatory. MJ is clearly talking about s-e-x. I doubt that anyone would reach their peak in a video game, unless there are games that allow a player to reach their peak. I do not play video games so I wouldn't really know. D-Low could stand for down low (not like that people) or down below. And I am going to leave it at that.
Not everything is as straight forward as it seems, just cause the lyrics aren't as bland as 'im talking about sex', doesn't mean they aren't.
Its saying something without saying it - I totally forgot what its called.
Exactly and that is why I believe that 2000 Watts is clearly about MJ getting his groove on. I think it is called being implicit with the words or something else, I just had it then I lost it. LOL. - The word was subiminal (sp).

Overally sexual compared to the many sexual type songs that are played on the radio these days? That song is tame.

There is a HUGE reason I do not listen to the radio anymore, and that's because so many songs are about sex. It isn't something to be taken lightly or casually or put on display; it is something to be cherished, privately.
When I hear 2000 Watts, and look at the lyrics and listen to the sing, something I picture is a bunch of speakers, microphones, wires, electronics, recording studios, sound boards, high goals to make, etc. "Just enough to make your juices flow" implies to me, the imagination and inspiration, especially since it follows musical terms. "Press play, don't stop, rotate, too hot", I see someone working the soundboard. They're making some awesome music. "Release two or three, when I reach I can go till I hit my peak" sounds to me like putting out some singles or albums, and just going and going and going making more music, always aspiring to create, until nothing is left at all. He reaches for things to happen, you know, like goals. He doesn't stop. But this is an interpretation I have yet to see on this thread. it was really the first thing that came to my mind, and it still tends to stick that way. What do you all think?
Fuses are blowing, whether literal or figurative. Either way, there's lots of power happening. Lots of music being made. I can kinda see why this song seems a little disconnected with itself, because in a creative power rush there is so much going on in the mind at once that it is sometimes hard to discern and group things and put things in complete thought. There's so much going on in my own mind right now that it's taking me forever just to write this thing, lol.

I can see *some* video game terminology, such as putting on 3D glasses, going to the next level, etc. but I don't think the song itself is about video games. The song has so many different types of terminology that it's hard to really discern much at all. Maybe it's about one thing; maybe it's about a lot of things. I know what I'm able to picture in my head. I know what a lot of you picture in your heads. I guess Michael wanted an imaginative song, maybe the whole purpose was to get us speculating. It certainly is that...even though it seems it's all messed up, it is yet another display of Michael's unique, multi-faceted, and layered creativity. :)
I think something this song is able to do, is bring out people's different personality types. hahaha Mike reads this thread, he can tell certain things about each of us without even talking to us. lol it's so funny.

First of all, sorry for my ignorance, but who is Tyrese??? Like I said before I don't listen to the radio.
Second, Michael's name is attached to this piece as having had a part in writing it, along with Teddy Riley and JaRon Henson and this Tyrese Gibson dude. This was another collaboration piece, like most of the Invincible songs. But it's got Michael written all over it. Number one, IF by chance it's about video games, who else but Michael would have written a song about that kind of thing? Number two, if it's about all this music recording and electronics and stuff, like I said before, who else but Michael would have written a song about THAT? Number three, if it is about sex, what other modern artist would have done what this song does to use this kind of cover for it such as electronics, to make it sound so tame yet so powerful? I can't think of a single answer to any of these questions.

Tyrese is an RnB artist. He originally wrote the song, then the others came along and changed a whole load of stuff probably.
1. Its not about video games
2. If you request it, give me five minutes an i'll come up with at least ten people that talk about music recording in a music recording <_<
3. Same as 2, a shitload of artists cover there songs up, music is full of sexual innuendos, always has been always will be, some people are to blind (or deaf) to see (/hear) it, obviously.

okay, requesting.
And I'm not blind to the fact that so many songs are full of sexual innuendos, and I'm not beyond seeing how this song can be interpreted that way. To me what's so clever about it, is that it has so many possibilities for interpretation. What I was pointing out was the unique cover that was used if it is about sex. I've never seen this type of cover before.
Well be that as it may, thanks for telling me who Tyrese is. And also now I know that NOBODY knows with 100% certainty what this song is really about. :)

i had enough and it seriously getting on my nerve.

Ok, I am not trying to be a complainer but I am offically sick and tired of fans still viewing Michael as this pure and innocent creature that doesn't not think about sex. Michael is a grown ass man, he is 50 years old, he had women in his life and he also had sex. Why can people say that he sang a song about sex and not be attacked? There are too many fans on these fan boards that put MJ in a pedastal and can't let MJ be MJ. There are plenty of fans on here who like to see MJ be solely a guy that sings songs about innocence, children and purity. This is the same dude that hold his crocth. This is the same dude that was naked in a music video. Why are fans still treating MJ like a child? This man had porn, the most smuttiest (not a word) kind that he collected and there are still people viewing him as a child. Please, just stop posting if you clearly do not like it if members of this forum disagree with your view. It is time for you to grow up. Singing songs about sex does not mean that you can't go to Disney World and have fun. MJ is the same guy who went to the Playboy mansion and is/was good friends with Hugh Hefner. He even talked about the time when he went to their hotel suites and commented on the servers, who were female, and their legs. I think that fans need to start doing some growing up of their own and start treating MJ like a grown up.
im so sorry but those who think so much of something, their minds revolves around it alll the time. no offense.
On the record, I do not think about sex all day. You make seem like it was a bad thing to do that. Sex is natural. It is part of life. Some people, like me, do not like to talk about sex and there are some people who do. However, this thread isn't about me or some people. This thread is about a song that MJ sang that is basically about sex. Get over it.
There is a HUGE reason I do not listen to the radio anymore, and that's because so many songs are about sex. It isn't something to be taken lightly or casually or put on display; it is something to be cherished, privately.
Yeah, but not every song. However, I see what you are saying and I agree with you regarding sex. However, I do not see how you consider ITC a overly sexual song compared to many songs out there that clearly talks about certain types of sex.
But this is an interpretation I have yet to see on this thread. it was really the first thing that came to my mind, and it still tends to stick that way. What do you all think?
I see what you are saying and that is why I like the song because it gives the listener the chance to figure out what it is. I would agree with what you are saying but when a statement like "juices flow" is out there, to many people, including me, it relates to sex.
"Juices flow" can also mean creative juices. However, when MJ sings, "shorty is always there for me" or something like that, it changes the whole meaning. It throws you off.

hey MichaelsguardianAngel.. you can have your oppinion on the song, it doesn't matter.. no-one knows for sure yet.. as long as Michael has never spoken out.. But I think as much as Michael is a childlike innocent person, he is also a person who loves women.. and it will show in his lyrics.. but think about it.. when he sings about this subject, which a normal man thinks about very often, he manages to "cover it up" so it sounds like "recording".. or .. "dancing".. or other things.. isn't that a sign of great charactor actually?? Just think about Janet Jackson's songs.. there's not a lot left to the imagination there.. I prefer Michael's way of doing it..
Michael I love you.. just the way you are.. always and forever.... MJ .. 7 bright stars to you for 2000 watts..

this topic reminds me of the song the things i do for you, except flipped. a little while ago i made a friend of mine watch a clip of of michael performing it, i think during the bad tour and it must have been mike's dancing (you know the little air hump he does :cheeky:) and because usually when you listen to a song for the first time you really only remember the chorus, but she looked at me and was like, this song is REALLY sexual!!! and i was like uh noooo because i had always interpreted that song to be about people using michael, but i can see her reasons. i guess what i'm saying is that a lot of his songs are multi-faceted; you can take a lot of different ideas from them. i like that :)

That's what I think. I mean, look at a guitarrist when he reaches the high notes. I can't say the guy is having an orgasm, but I can affirm he's pleased to play the guitar.
Pleasure is pleasure either your making music or making love. It's almost a spiritual thing.

Michael Jackson 2000 Watts Lyrics:
Bass note, treble, stereo
control, how low you go
Just enough to make your juices flow
Press play, don't stop, voltage, too hot
You feel I'm real
I'm everything you need, so
tell me what's the deal
[Chorus]
2000 Watts, 8 ohms, 200 volts, real strong
Too much of that, fuse blown
Be careful what you say don't overload
[ Find more Lyrics on www.mp3lyrics.org/8dBy (http://www.mp3lyrics.org/8dBy) ]
2000 Watts, 8 ohms, 200 volts, real strong
Too much of that, fuse blown
Be careful what you say don't overload
3D, high speed, feedback, Dolby
Release two or three, when I reach I
can go ‘til I hit my peak
Compact steelo, chico, D-Lo, highpost lady
Shorty really wanna be there for me
Now We can take this song and put all we want to it but it is about sex or sexual effects.
ok lets chop up the lyrics and add to them a bit...
Bass note, treble, stereo
control, how low you go
Just enough to make your juices flow (all things low. What is the lowest sexual part of a woman? The line in red kinda tops it off dont it?)
Press play, don't stop, voltage, too hot (Dont stop...um well yea dont stop)
You feel I'm real (hehe)
I'm everything you need, so
tell me what's the deal (um lets just say he completes her)
And the chorus... lol well hes telling you how good he is. making the picture in your head even better because he can last. Kinda like an energizer battery. he keeps going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going,... ya get it?
I know not all songs Michael sings are about sex but let me list some that DEFO are!
1. Lady In My Life.
2.Eaten Alive (he sings the best part in that song.)
3. In the Closet
4. Dirty Diana
5.Give In To Me'
6. Butterflies
7. Break of Dawn is pretty obvious.
8.Blood On The Dance Floor
9. Remember the time
10. superfly sister
11. Satisfy You( again background vocals but the best part in the whole damn song.
12. She Drives me Wild.
13.Trouble
14. Dont Stop Til you get enough... Have you not heard the demo?
15. Let us not for get "Got The Hots"
and probably a whole hell of alot more.
Come on just because you find him an untouched pure as the drivin snow man doesn't make it so. Michael Jackson was a MAN. All men have it on their minds at some point or another. Michael made it clear or as clear as mud when he sang about sex. Just because you cant see it doesn't mean its not there.

Metaphors are comparisons that show how two things that are not alike in most
ways are similar in one important way. Metaphors are a way to describe something.
Authors use them to make their writing more interesting or entertaining.
 I agree about the methaphors.
the song uses them to compare sex and love for music and hi-tech sound and systems.. be it body systems or audio/video systems..and brings them together it shows that they all can 'act' or 'be' alike.

you have interesting threads here :)
Being from a very sexually oriented period of time in music, I always interpreted this song as being sexually related. Too many direct or indirect references to some things, if you know what I mean . Maybe as a new fan or a younger fan or as a fan not from a more sexually explicit generation I wouldn't see the correlation (s), but it's there from where I come from.

to me its really obvious that its about those fans that think they can behave like they want. THink they own Michael someway.
but now when you say its about sex then.. yea it could be.
hmm..

It's either about musical equipment or sex. To most male musicians they are pretty much the same.
Watching Michael's 'directing' and 'interaction' with Orianthi's guitar during the solo for Beat it in the movie sure proves the point, don't it? :innocent:

Hmm. I never really looked at it as being about sex...but after reading the lyrics carefully I can see that...though I think he would have made it a little more obvious than it is. I always just assumed it was about music.
So...yeah...I'm just going to continue to pretend that I don't know what he is talking about since I guess we'll truly never know anyway. It is whatever you want it to be. Haha.
Maybe one day someone that would have the answer will say.

Hmm, I never thought of it being about sex...I just thought it was about the ecstacy of listening to music you just love. I'll have another listen to consider it though, lol.

Technology pretty much, I think.
Sex. In my opinion. :p

It's about sex. 2000 Watts and Janet's Feedback are of the same ilk. Both use music as a metaphor for sex.

...
No kidding. The temperature spiked very suddenly. "This is your moment to shine and we'll be right there with you." Suuuuuuuuure. I rest my case.
2000 Watts is so obviously about sex. It's that music equipment/extension/whatever you wanna call it thing. He constantly talked about bliss/ecstasy when dancing etc. Music and dance is just one way to get there, ahem. And if you're really really lucky, then music and dance is almost the same as sex. :cheeky:

im gonna tweet tyrese (since he co wrote it ) and ask .. lol
Yeah, I'm sure Tyrese will know. I have a feeling that 2000 Watts was originally going to be on Tyrese's album "2000 Watts" anyway.

My favourite game is Mario Galaxy
Then it would be about video games, lol.
AHHAHHAHHAH omg..hilarious!!!!

lol WOW ok i know we all know the lyrics but lets all take a look at them again ok... just for shits and giggles. I have read through all 10 pages of this thread and i seriously can not believe some thought it was about Video games... WOW ok here are the lyrics
Michael Jackson 2000 Watts Lyrics:
Bass note, treble, stereo
control, how low you go
Just enough to make your juices flow
Press play, don't stop, voltage, too hot
You feel I'm real
I'm everything you need, so
tell me what's the deal
[Chorus]
2000 Watts, 8 ohms, 200 volts, real strong
Too much of that, fuse blown
Be careful what you say don't overload

2000 Watts, 8 ohms, 200 volts, real strong
Too much of that, fuse blown
Be careful what you say don't overload
3D, high speed, feedback, Dolby
Release two or three, when I reach I
can go ‘til I hit my peak
Compact steelo, chico, D-Lo, highpost lady
Shorty really wanna be there for me
Now We can take this song and put all we want to it but it is about sex or sexual effects.
ok lets chop up the lyrics and add to them a bit...
Bass note, treble, stereo
control, how low you go
Just enough to make your juices flow (all things low. What is the lowest sexual part of a woman? The line in red kinda tops it off dont it?)
Press play, don't stop, voltage, too hot (Dont stop...um well yea dont stop)
You feel I'm real (hehe)
I'm everything you need, so
tell me what's the deal (um lets just say he completes her)
And the chorus... lol well hes telling you how good he is. making the picture in your head even better because he can last. Kinda like an energizer battery. he keeps going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going, and going,... ya get it?
