Re: Do The Bart, Man

  • Do The Bartman (1990) (Michael Jackson, Bryan Loren)
    "Bart Simpson"
First of only two direct participations by Michael Jackson with
the famous cartoon series THE SIMPSONS (see "Happy Birthday,
Lisa" for his second involvement). In February 1998 creator
Matt Groening acknowledged at the second annual World Animation
Celebration in Pasadena, USA, that Michael did in fact write and
sing on the song. The song was a #1 hit in the UK.

Michael Jackson sings Background Vocals (together with Bryan Loren)
    • (_:__, and 7'' House Mix - 3:55) "Bart Simpson": "Do The Bartman"
      (Single, CD, 1990)
    • (5:10) "The Simpsons": "Sing The Blues"
      (Album, CD, 1990)

Re: Do The Bart, Man

Haha, I forgot all about that song! I remember dancing to the Bartman when I was little. *Good Times* lol

Re: Do The Bart, Man

I thought that it was him singing in the background, but I wasn't sure. it's a great song. 20 years later, it still makes me laugh

Re: Do The Bart, Man

I dont have any more info then the one given here, but I LOVE THE SONG AND THE VIDEO TOO.
But i dont wacht The Simpsons anymore since Matt Groening permited all the MJ jokes in the program, MJ was so kind to him writing the song this or Lisa Happy Birthday, i would still wacht it if it wasnt for that, but no, i dont like that kind of betrayal thing, just because it was the supposed right thing to do, wich BTW was wrong, and i think many people did the same because of this, was not cool, first Bart and Lisa loved Michael Jackson and then all of the sudden the stupids jokes, why? they could have no name MJ anymore, but the jokes, after MJ knidness, no, no into that.

Re: Do The Bart, Man

Lyrics:

Yo! Hey what's happening dude?
I'm a guy with a rep for bein' rude.
Terrorizin' people wherever I go,
It's not intentional, just keepin' the flow.
Fixin' test scores to get the best scores,
Droppin' banana peels all over the floor,
I'm the kid that made delinquency an art,
Last name, Simpson; first name, Bart.
I'm here today to introduce the next phase,
The next step in the big Bart craze.
I got a dance, real easy to do,
I learned it with no rhythm and so can you!
So move your body, if you got the notion,
Front to back in a rock-like motion.
Now that you got it, if you think you can,
Do it to the music, that's the Bartman

Back-up Singers:
Everybody if you can, do the Bartman!
Shake you body, turn it out, if you can, man!
Move you butt to the side, yes you can, can!
Everybody in the house, do the Bartman
(x2)

Bart:
It wasn't long ago, just a couple of weeks,
I got in trouble, yeah, pretty deep.
Homer was yellin', mom was, too,
Because I put mothballs in the beef stew.
Punishment time, in the air lurks gloom,
Sittin' by myself, confined to my room.
When all else fails, nothin' else left to do,
I turn on the music, so I can feel the groove!

Back-up Singers:
Move your body, if you got the notion,
Front to back in a rock-like motion.
Move your hips from side to side now,
Don't ya slip, let your feet glide now.
If you've got the groove, you gotta use it.
Rock rhythm in time with the music.
You just might start a chain reaction...

Bart: If you can do the Bart, you're bad like Michael Jackson.

Back-up Singers:
Everybody if you can, do the Bartman!
Shake you body, turn it out..If you can, man!
Move your butt to the side as you can, can!
Everybody in the house do the Bartman...Do the Bartman!

Bart: Do the Bartman!
Everybody back and forth, from side to side.

Back-up Singers: Do the Bartman!

Bart: Do the Bartman!
Now here's a dance beat that you can't deny!

Homer: Turn it down! Will you stop that infernal racket?

Back-up Singers: Do the Bartman!

Bart:
Oh my ears! Lisa! Put that saxophone away!
You can't touch this!
I didn't do it. Nobody saw me do it. You can't prove anything.

Now, I'm in the house feelin' good to be home,
'Til Lisa starts blowin' her damn saxophone.
And if it was mine, you know they'd take it away,
But still I'm feelin' good, so that's okay.
I'm up in my room, just a-singin' a song,
Listenin' to the kicks while I'm kickin' along.
Yeah, Lisa likes jazz, she's her number one fan,
But I know I'm bad, 'cause I do the Bartman!

Back-up Singers:
Everybody, if you can do the Bartman!
Shake your body, turn it out if you can, man!
Move your butt to the side, as you can, can!
Everybody in the house, do the Bartman! Do the Bartman!

Bart: Do the Bartman!
Everybody back and forth from side to side.

Back-up Singers: Do the Bartman!

Bart: Do the Bartman!
She can do it, he can do it, so can I!

Back-up Singers:
If you've got the groove, you gotta use it.
Rock rhythm in time with the music.
You just might start a chain reaction...

Bart: I'm a Bartman.

Back-up Singers:
Everybody, if you can, do the Bartman!
Shake your body, turn it out, if you can, man!
Move your butt to the side, as you can, can!
Everybody in the house do the Bartman!
Move you body, if you got the notion,
Skake your body to the rock-like motion!
Move your hips from side to side now,
Don't ya slip, let your feet glide now!
If you've got your groove, you gotta use it!
Rock rhythm in time with the music!

Bart: Eat your heart out, Michael!

Back-up Singers: You just might start a chain reaction...

Bart: Oh wow, man

 Imagine Michael writting that? :D It's so great...

Yeah there has been a few MJ jokes but most of the people who work at The Simpsons respect MJ and has said that he was very nice to work with.

Here's a clip from one the latest Simpsons episodes where they pay tribute to him

Oh and if you wanna see a cartoon that pushes MJ jokes to far watch Family Guy

I haven't heard anything overtly offensive, but then again, I've missed quite a few episodes. Family guy is worse.

don't you guys miss the days where people just joked about his appearance?

oooh thanks for that! I forgot all about the part where Bart goes "Eat your heart out, Michael!":D:D:D

Happy Birthday Lisa

During the Simpsons episode "Stark Raving Dad" Michael is anonymously a guest on the show. But I remember reading somewhere that he didn't sing any of the parts that his character was singing. I'm not positive but it said that Billie Jean and Happy Birthday Lisa were sung by someone else because of contractual reasons. He was able to do the speaking parts but not the singing. Is this correct?

Re: Happy Birthday Lisa

YES! It´s an old story:cheeky: but it´s correct!

LOL The Simpson's has always been one of my favorite shows and I remember the episode "Stark Raving Dad" lol I can remember thinking *this guy sounds so much like Michael Jackson it's almost creepy..* I felt like an idiot when years later I finally find out it was him LOL

And thanks for the bartman link I loved that song growing up!!

There's a version of Happy Birthday Lisa that was leaked a few years ago that has Michael singing. It was originally supposed to be the one played on the Simpsons (that version), but for some reason, Michael's contract wouldn't allow it. So they had to rerecord it with a different singer.

The original Happy Birthday Lisa was also going to be on the Dangerous Special Edition, but it was removed by Sony at the last minute.

That's a shame. I really like the version where he's singing it more than the one that aired. I have that version on my ipod

I actually have the original version "Lisa, it's your birthday" with michael singing.

"do the bartman" has the "work your body" sound off the dangerous special edition album. I like it.

I love the version of "Lisa It's Your Birthday" with Michael actually singing. Very nice song and Michael's voice is as good as ever in it.
