I got mine in sept - and i'm so prob of it. I kept a pic of the design in my wallet in case the time every came. I was living in Australia at the time where they will tattoo you drunk. But ended up getting it done cheaper over in thailand.

My only reccommendation is, if you're wanting one of his face (like a portrait etc) make sure you go and see a really well respected tattooist and speak to them... cause portraits can be really hard and can end up looking weird if done by a lesser artist.

If you're going for a symbol etc make sure you get a high quality image that they can replicate.

I saw many fans having a MJ tattoo and i always thought of it as something nice but not for me. But now i'm giving it some thought to get one myself but i don't want to have a tattoo everyone can see it's a MJ one right away. More like a symbol such as the History one. I have been thinking about getting a tattoo since January (was originally thinking of a small musical note behind my ear but that is unoriginal) and since MJ has died I want to celebrate him and all the hope and strength he has given me - and I feel the best thing for me to do is have "King" inked small in letters on my right back below my shoulder blade. That way it can remind me to have honor and grace like Michael did - with work ethic and kindness to others. O yeh and that he is the king of music... important that lol

Guys I just wanna let you know that many people have the tatoo of the MJ initials from the HIStory album and while I LOVE the initials, I dunno, I wouldn't want it tatooed cause it just doesnt seem very unique anymore. Also some dude bought the rights to use the initials wherever he may please, who knows what they are being used for now to advertise.

I also thought about besides getting a black/white band around my right arm like Michael used to wear was adding some sort of text at the bottom of the band very small like some song lyrics or an MJ quote that is special to me and 1958-Forever or something.

Also thought about getting a small sequence from his white glove tatooed between my thumb and first finger y'know that place where there is the skin between the 2 fingers to you wouldnt always be able to see it, only when your hand/fingers are completely spread. I know Paris Hilton has a star tatooed there I think lol but I think it's a cool spot. Just one sparkling sequence.

A portrait will cost you a whole lot more than 100 pounds. More like double that at least. They are not easy to do and you need someone very experienced in portrait work.

I'm kind of kidding, but mostly not...you could get "Property of Michael Jackson" haha, I'm very independent, but Michael breaks all my rules :wub: I would volunteer myself to be owned by him! and you could either just get it all in the same font or have Michael's signature and the rest in plain text.


I've wanted to get a Michael tattoo for awhile, since I turned 18 3 years ago. Now that he's passed I want one more than ever. I'm not sure if I want something small & simple, or a little bigger & more elaborate. I'm going to definitely wait awhile, because I don't want to rush into it. Maybe by the time my birthday comes in December I'll have a good idea.

I've actually debated getting a tattoo before, but I could never commit and I like to have my body free of anything, but I'm seriously considering it now and considering a pretty extensive one at that when I'm more of a minimalist. Without thinking about it very much the first idea I came up with is getting his face in profile on the back of my shoulder as if his head is resting there and then the rest of his body (I don't know about the legs though, I might have it fade into text of his lyrics or a quote) down one side of my back with his arms wrapping around to the front of my body as if he's holding me from behind. I feel like I need Michael to hold me and stay close to me, so that's a pretty literal reason behind that. I'm on medication for a while though so it will be close to a year before I can get it done, so I'll think through tons of ideas before I decide for sure.

Upon thinking about it endlessly, I have decided that I am going to do it. I already have a Bon Jovi tatt on my lower back - I have never once regretted it, still love it and at least I know I can handle the pain!

I'm going to get it done on my left ankle - that way, if I want to add something later down the track (perhaps a quote of his) I can have it done across the edge of my foot. It will say MJ (linked together in an artistic way) with a heart, shaded in red. Ideally, I want it to be relitively small yet tasteful...it's my own way of honouring him and what he meant to me, as opposed to an obvious public statement (my Bon Jovi one is big enough lol!).

Will get it done at the same place as where I had my Bon Jovi one done...they are really good there. Will be sure to post it for you all to see once I've had it done :)

I know!! And it's great that it is his specialty because he had like 20 pages of portraits, so I'd rather go to someone like him than a regular tattoo artist that has just done a few portraits here and there. I actually was watching LA Ink the other night, the one where Kat goes to the hospital, and that's where I saw Bob Tyrell because he sometimes travels as a guest artist and they also have like conventions and things where they travel to different cities, so you might want to check that out. I'm def willing to travel to get my tattoo done though, Michael is too important to me so it has to be perfection.

I'm still going to get the History Lyrics on my feet at some point but for now I'm going to concentrate of the back tattoo idea I have, it involves the MJ symbol but I want it personalised.... there's going to be butterflies and stars. why butterflies? Well, of course there's the song (which is one of my favourites) and:-

That's horrible, I'm so sorry. It's not the tattooist or front shop's place to be so judgemental. They're providing a service not an opinion :mad: Whether they agree with it or not they should keep their opinions to themselves and not hurt your feelings :(

If you can be bothered to deal with them again I'd call up and asked to speak to the owner/manager of the business... tell them the exact day and time this happened, what happened was incredibly unprofessional and who ever said it should be pulled up for it.

Take your business elsewhere, sugar! somewhere much better and far more welcoming and professional .

Im soooo sorry hun. I was worried about this too when I went to get my tattoo. It was my first so I didnt know what to expect. I found a really nice guy though from New York. I guess I got lucky. They get paid for what they do and they cannot deny you of what you request.

I went to the tattoo shop and as soon as I unfolded the pictures on MJ the tattoo guy went 'NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!' which made me well up for getting it done :-)

I went to the tattoo shop and as soon as I unfolded the pictures on MJ the tattoo guy went 'NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!' which made me well up for getting it done :-)

I'm getting this picture done...but it will be shaded in black and white, with a glove on the pointing hand :-) and will have angel wings and some other cool stuffs :-) It will be a few weeks before I can get it done though as the tattoo shop is BUSY but I shall post the pic of it when I get it done :-D

I've decided to get it done on my left ankle :) I'm still deciding on the final design, but when I go on Tuesday they will be able to draw something up and give me ideas. At this stage, I want it to say MJ (linked together in fancy writing lol) with a heart, shaded in red.

That way, if I want to get something done later down the track, like song lyrics or a quote of his, I can get it done along the side of my foot and it matches nicely!

So they are my thoughts so far :) I will definitely post it when I have had it done!

I'm going in the tattoo place sat with 3 of mj print out of the face, and try and decide what face i want out of the 3 pics. After i decide what one to have ask the bloke how much it will be for the face and Michael on top and then gone to soon on bottom of the pics. Then if he comes bk with a resable price i willl book for my tattoo for a tuesday or wednesday next week or week after.

Well I could give you some suggestions.. You could leave the In Loving Memory on top, put the MJ logo under it, and under the MJ you could put King of Pop Forever or just Forever. Or you could put a crown above the MJ logo like I did and then put forever under the MJ. What place are you getting your tattoo?

my most painful one was the one i got to memorialize him. it was on my inner right leg but part of it went onto my shin so it was painful.

i'd suggest either shoulder (back) or lower ankle for those who've never had a tat or are scared of the pain.

Wow, it's amazing reading all about your tattoos and tattoo ideas!

I have 3 tattoo's - 2 of them are flower designs which I had done when I was 19 (I am now 32!) and one little dolphin!

One flower and the dolphin are on my upper arms (outside) and the other flower is just above my tummy button - but it now has stretch marks running through it courtesy of my 2 pregnancies with my son & daughter lol!!

Anyway....... I was planning on having an MJ tattoo done for christmas before our concert on 3rd February.... but sadly things have changed in such an awful way, and I still want my MJ tattoo done, but I'm not too sure on the design.

I am thinking possibly the MJ logo, but I want it made pretty & magical looking! I'm thinking of having it surrounded by a lot of little stars, and also 2 small butterflies one pink & one blue to represent my children.

Or...

Possibly the 'moonwalk feet' surrounded by a lot of little shooting stars & flowers & musical notes etc... I haven't seen a good tattoo of the 'feet' so if any of you know of a decent one, or have a photo, maybe you would be kind enough to post it for me.

I want something that is feminine, and positve. I want it to remind me of the man and the music and the dance..... I don't want it to remind me of his death at all.

I am a singer in my spare time, and I work as a volunteer in amatuer theatre, so I'm thinking that the little musical notes would be cool :)

And it's great that it is his specialty because he had like 20 pages of portraits, so I'd rather go to someone like him than a regular tattoo artist that has just done a few portraits here and there. I actually was watching LA Ink the other night, the one where Kat goes to the hospital, and that's where I saw Bob Tyrell because he sometimes travels as a guest artist and they also have like conventions and things where they travel to different cities, so you might want to check that out. I'm def willing to travel to get my tattoo done though, Michael is too important to me so it has to be perfection.

No problem. I actually called Tom Renshaw and he called back yesterday and said he's booked until January and it's good to book it really early. Whenever I can actually gather my thoughts and look through pics of MJ and listen to his songs again, I'll start designing mine. I have some ideas already, but I haven't even been in the mood to sketch them out. And like I said I can't even get one for about 9 months because of medication, but I assure you it will be a work of art, not just a tattoo, so I'll def be posting it all over once I get it.

I would love to get one. But I really need to think about it a while. If I'll take one, it will be something really private. And somewhere privare. I'm thinking about under the hip bone. Like on the lower belly, on the left side. Just so you can't see it if I'm wearing something, even a bikini bottom and you still can't see it. Atleast not completely. A little quote from one of his lyrics is something I've been thinking of. Also his silhouette would be something that I really would like. Or simply just his name.

lol Um I dont know i havent made it in to talk to them. I called to talk to her today and just about colors and pain but as it looks i wont be getting it anyway. im going to TRY and talk my mom into taking me in tomorrow afternoon... My car is on the fritz so i cant drive it. But we shall see.
The woman did say she charged by the size so i made it as small as i could with out screwing it up.

I have a beautiful quote from Michael that I would like to be tattooed on the hipbone area, but it just seems a bit long so I'm not sure if it will look nice. It isn't extremely long, but I've tried to write it on there with make-up pencils (lol) and can't figure out how it would look the best. I guess I just need to take the tattoo a bit higher than I planned, but then again, people will partly see it and it most likely will be influenced by pregenancy.

Maybe I should just go and talk to the tattooist, he will know the best. :D

It probably hurts the least where the skin is thick. And where there are no bones near. It hurts the most when the tattoo is made right above a bone, that's what I've heard. But everyone feels the pain differently so it's hard to tell where it hurts the least or the most.

When I got my first tattoo, it didn't really hurt, it just felt a bit uncomfortable. Even though I got it near my collarbones, where the skin i quite thin.

If you feel like chickening out, I think there are different kind of creams that ease the pain.. not sure though :D
