There are tons of threads on this subject...some for each individual magazine and I just can't be arsed to dig them all out right now and post the same info in each one...so Imma just make this one.

For those is the USA having a hard time finding tribute magazines, try Walgreens. I went there yesterday for some lotion and came out with like 6 magazines. They had the following special editions on sale:

Rolling Stone $11.99
Life $11.99
People $11.99
Jet $2.00
Hip Hop Magazine $5.99
*one more that I can't remember right now and the name doesn't show on my receipt...could be Billboard* $11.99

In some places there's a Walgreens every few blocks or so, SO if you don't find it in one, keep looking. They are carrying them all...but running out fast. I may have gotten the last copy of Rolling Stone and Life in the store I went to.

I will try to upload the Hip Hop Magazine one this weekend if it's not already on here somewhere. There's some interesting interviews in there from people who worked with MJ. At least it looked like that when I flipped thru it in the store. Tried to read it last night but fell asleep after about the 2nd or 3rd page. lol It was a loooong night.

Wow! Thankyou so much for uploading the covers and scans of the contents. The only magazine I have been able to find so far is the Rolling Stone Michael Jackson tribute issue. I hope I find more magazines because one my friends at a newsagent told me several people came in and bought up 20 copies of each magazine he had just to sell them on ebay. I guess I can only cross my fingers and hope for best but this week I will be going out with friends to see if I can find anything else but I really like the Rolling Stone tribute issue. Rolling Stone is entirely devoted to Mike but it's not worth it, really. There's another thread somewhere about the content of the tribute mags if you want to look but I 've seen Rooling Stone myself and the whole thing presents Mike in a bad light :-(

I saw another tribute magazine today. It is Hip Hop Weekly (http://hiphopweeklyblog.com/). It costs $5.99 and was completely devoted to Michael. From what I perused, it appears to be one of the most favorable magazines out there. It had 4 interviews from people who ACTUALLY knew him (amazing, I know)-- Suzanne DePasse, Teddy Riley, Al Sharpton, and someone else. It touched on the allegations, but they actually mentioned things like the fact that Jordan's mom denied the allegations at first. It seems to provide a more fair look. The quality of the pictures, though, were not quite as good as with other magazines. Some of them were screenshots directly from videos that did not transfer well. I think fans would enjoy this issue. I did not buy it because I feel like I've spent so much on magazines already, but I may go back for it anyway.

There's also a section in the middle that lists some weddings and anniversaries for couples (I've never read this magazine, so I don't know if that's a regular feature), and they had different song names as headlines for each couple, like "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," for a young couple's wedding, and "Remember the Time," for a couple's fiftieth anniversary. :)

The articles in the magazine are rather blah. They kind of read like they were written by a middle-schooler. But it's only $1.99, and there are some nice pictures in there. And of course the cover is lovely too. If anyone wants pictures I'll take them.

Oh, and before I forget--has anyone found Ebony yet? It's supposed to be out this week. I haven't noticed it yet, and I'm itching to see what it's like.

Hmmm. I don't have any Books-A-Million out here. My Borders sucks with this kind of stuff, so I didn't expect them to have it. Barnes and Noble might. I think I also read somewhere that somebody found a copy at their local Target. I also have a reading center near my job (a store that sells only magazines and newspapers). I was in there the other day and there was a whole MJ tribute magazine table. Ebony wasn't yet there though.

The one on the left is like the back of the People magazine tribute. It's all pictures accompanied only by quotes from Michael himself. It was $6.50.

The one on the right is Hip Hop Weekly. There are two covers out, the one above and another with a Dangerous-era picture of Michael from on tour. That one has articles and interviews and is the least negative of all the magazines that I have seen. This one is $5.99.

I've bought so many and looked at so many I can't remember which ones I have and which ones I don't. I was in the magazine place this morning at Grand Central Station and I was like which ones do I have again? I couldn't remember so I didn't get anything. I'll look at my stack tonight, then go out again tomorrow and pick up the ones I haven't gotten yet.

I try to get the ones that are positive and have pics I haven't seen before. I hate the ones that talk more about his face and behavior than they do about the memories and the music. I mean I guess it was reality and can't be avoided, but I try not to think about it so much...

What's nice about the Historical one? I saw it at the bookstore, but I didn't look through it. Maybe I'll go back there tonight.

I haven't purchased any tribute magazines yet. I might purchase one, but it has to be really good. I saw the People Tribute, and there were a couple of unflattering pictures (like the mug shot). I also looked through the Time tribute, and I believe that was the one were they called him "J***o." I've read on here that Rolling Stone is negative, so I don't want that.

I'm looking forward to Ebony - does anyone have that yet?

If I purchase a magazine, I just want a really good tribute with nice pictures, articles, and quotes. I don't really want the negative stuff. When I pull out this magazine in 10 years, I don't want to review the trial or look at pictures of him holding Blanket over the balcony. Please let me know if you find a good one!

I found it today at Barnes and Noble. It was in the bargain books section, not the magazine section. It's cool. It's basically a newspaper in which every page is a layout with a Michael Jackson from a previous edition. It starts in the mid-70s and continues through to the obituary. I haven't looked at it all yet, but it looked like only the final pages about Michael's death were in color. I think it is very interesting if you, like me, are under the age of 30 and do not remember the craze surrounding MJ in the 80s. It's nice to be able to read through chronologically and kind of see Michael's rise to superstardom.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy any magazines but today I went to see what was out there and the biggest book/magazine shop in Helsinki had put up a separate section for MJ mags. I hesitated and left but came back and got 3 mags.

I hadn't seen this mag before today. I bought it at a reading center that sells all newspapers and magazines (it's not a chain) They have many of the tribute issues on a separate table. They had the LIFE, People, Time, Rolling Stone, Word Up, Hip-Hop, etc. And then they had this one. I thought that it was very unique with the pictures, many of which I had never seen, and I loved the quotes that they used from Michael.

I don't know if this has just now come out, or if it will be anywhere else.

I got the Rolling Stone after I took the picture... so the Historical is worth getting? I think I might pick that up along with the NY Times one that one looks really nice... Oh and the Ebony one.. I want that one... and of course if I can still find those hip hop weekly and xxl mags I'll pick them up. I have never been a fan of rap magazines to do fitting tributes to people like MJ but I'll check them out if I see them...

That mag is just a weekly magazine, so unfortunately it's been long off the shelves... you'd most likely only be able to find it on ebay.

I ordered that online and received it today. It's not what I expected, I didn't know that it was only quotes from people about MJ (Liz Taylor, Diana Ross, R Kelly, other people in the industry + some regular fans) but after going through it, it's a really nice memento to have. The quotes are all really sweet, it's nice to have a collection of them in one book and there are some nice photos as well! It wasn't that expensive, so worth it for what you get, in my opinion.

I personally think it is. It has one colored page, as if it could be a poster on the wall, but the rest is black and white. They have a good timeline in there. I personally like it. :)

It is about 100 pages. It is just pictures and MJ quotes, so it doesn't feel as substantial as some of the others. I think everyone has a different opinion on what's worth it. If you want a lot of nice pictures or if you like reading about Michael in his own words rather than other people's, then you'll probably like this.

MoonGlider - the mag with his hands clasped in that picture, is a German mag called Stern. Surprisingly I found it here. And though I can't understand much German, the pics were nice and I loved the cover, so I bought it, haha.

Wow I wish I could find these magazines. In Australia I've only come across a few and most were sold out by the time I went to newsagents. The only ones I regularly come across is the Australian Rolling Stone. Havent seen the Smash Hits or Bravo magazines in years.

Awesome. I encourage you to find it if you can.. I said in another thread that it's by far the BEST tribute I've seen. The photos are high quality, some I've never seen before, the articles written are wonderful, they even have bits and pieces of interviews that he did with Ebony over the years and they do not mention anything negative at all.. it's really very well done, totally respectful of him, I really am pleased with it.

Surprisingly I've seen it at a few newsstands, but NOT at barnes and noble... go figure...

You can definitely trust them, they're a legit site. The only thing is their packaging sucks. I ordered about 4 things from them, and 2 of the items came slightly damaged. I will never order magazines from them again just for that reason. Then again though, I'm super picky. If you're fine with some bent corners and the like, then go for it. They have A LOT of magazines that are hard to find elsewhere online.

I finally had some free time to spend at the bookstore this afternoon to read some of the tributes. I bought the Time, People and RS when they came out w/o reading them first and I sort of regretted it since they do have some articles that paint Michael negatively.

I really, really like the Life Commemorative Issue one. The articles there are all positive and they devote literally like two sentences to the child abuse charges. But some here said that they didn't like it because most of the pictures are of his youth to the 1980s, which is true. But they are only using the pictures that their photographers have taken.

I really enjoyed it and am going to get the hardbook version of that one.

I've yet to see the Ebony one in my bookstore. :( To anyone who has it, can you describe the articles and stuff? I want to buy stuff with positive words about Michael.

I really, really like the Life Commemorative Issue one. The articles there are all positive and they devote literally like two sentences to the child abuse charges. But some here said that they didn't like it because most of the pictures are of his youth to the 1980s, which is true. But they are only using the pictures that their photographers have taken.

I really enjoyed it and am [i]going to get the hardbook version[/b] of that one.



The hardback leather bound one looks gorgeous but I can't believe it's $100 for only 80 pages! I was flipping out!

The Vanity Fair article is great. It is by Lisa Robinson and documents all the interviews she did with Michael in the 70's and early 80's. A few interesting nugets in there too. Well worth reading.

^^That picture is in the Rolling Stone Commemorative Issue as well. It says that it was taken at Neverland in 2005, four months after the trial ended. Of course, we all know that he wasn't even in the country at that time. So whether it was really in 2005 is anyone's guess. It does look like it could be from then though.

Yes, very nice piece that they did. There are about 3 pages of photos, all taken during a 1989 shoot that Michael did with the magazine.

Vanity Fair wow. Last time I went to WH Smith it was still the Heath Ledger cover. I will check it out.

Today I realised that Vanity Fair is in every single newsagent, so should be very easy to find. The pictures are so beautiful, he looked so relaxed :wub:

but my mom brought me this one is people magazine celebrate the 70's and it has the Jackson 5 in it :)

The Vanity Fair photos are all the old ones from the late 80's Vanity shoot. There are about 5 pages of these photos and about 5 full pages of interviews.
