Of course this wasn't necessarily the entire set list for the live show, just what Kenny et al have edited together for the movie. We know Mike rehearsed DD, Dangerous, HTW and WATW, so I guess they *may* be on the DVD/Blu-Ray as extras?

I read on the Wiki page [not always reliable I know] that when TII gets released on DVD there will be tons of extra rehearsal footage so I'm guessing all the songs played during the rehearsals that were recorded will appear on a future DVD release.

The movie will contain interviews and a restrospective of Mj career, so I think they will not show all the songs Mj did for this it tour, those will be included on the dvd or another future dvd release

2. No. just rehearsal's working process and performances, and interviews with the staff, the director, the dancers, the musicians, the backup singers. No family, no friend, no memorial or funeral.

The information is very important. Because I must decide if I take non-fans to the screening. ANd I know two of them hate lip-syncing. I will not go to the movie with them if MJ is miming a lot of the setlist because I knwo that they would make fun of him.

I read on the Wiki page [not always reliable I know] that when TII gets released on DVD there will be tons of extra rehearsal footage so I'm guessing all the songs played during the rehearsals that were recorded will appear on a future DVD release.

I saw in the interview with the dancers one of the girls said one day Michael was just jamming by himself to Billie Jean and he took out a compact and powdered his face to the beat. She said it was one of the coolest things she ever saw!

What does the "Dome Project" mean?

Here's some loose ideals about the title,that I came up with. I know there is an org. with same name that supports different things as well as it makes complete sense that Michael would do a 'Dome Project' since he was going to do shows at the O2 arena.
I had mentioned in a few posts around here,that you can tell by the trailer that he was working on this.


Info. I found. below..(setlist is outdated but gives insight)

A 3-D mini film titlled "The Dome Project" was suppose to be unveiled during Michael Jackson's "This Is It" tour.

Jackson finished shooting the project only two weeks ago. It included recreations of the Thriller music video in which "the audience would have felt like they were visiting the Thriller experience, like they were there," according to Vince Pace, the man behind the 3D cameras used for the shoot.

Two weeks before he died, Michael Jackson
wrapped up work on an elaborate production dubbed the "Dome Project"
that could be the final finished video piece overseen by the King of
Pop, The Associated Press has learned.

Jackson
was apparently preparing to dazzle concert audiences in London with a
high-tech show in which 3D images — some inspired by his "Thriller" era
— would flash behind him as he performed on stage.

"It was a
groundbreaking effort," said Vince Pace, whose company provided cameras
for the shoot, a 3D system he created with filmmaker James Cameron.

"To think that Michael's gone now, that's probably the last documented footage of him to be shot in that manner," Pace said.

Two
people with knowledge of the secretive project confirmed its existence
Monday to the AP on condition they not be identified because they
signed confidentiality agreements.

They said it was a five-week
project filmed at Culver Studios, which 70 years ago was the set for
the classic film "Gone With the Wind." Four sets were constructed for
Jackson's production, including a cemetery recalling his 1983
"Thriller" video.

With 3D technology "the audience would have
felt like they were visiting the 'Thriller' experience, like they were
there," Pace said.

Shooting for the project lasted from June
1-9, with Jackson on the set most days. The project was in
post-production, at the time of Jackson's death, and had been expected
to be completed next month. It was not immediately clear what would be
made of the video footage now.

Producer Robb Wagner, founder of
music-video company Stimulated Inc., did not immediately return a
message seeking comment on the project.

Michael Roth, a
spokesman for Jackson's Los Angeles-based promoter AEG Live, said he
hadn't heard about the production but did not rule that it could be
part of the company's contract with the entertainer.

According
to one of the people with knowledge of the project, a willow-thin,
pallid Jackson left a memorable impression on the crew, arriving in a
caravan of SUVs with hulking security guards in tow. The person said
Jackson introduced himself to workers on the set and walked with a
spring in his step but at one point needed assistance as he descended
steps off a stage.

Besides the cemetery, one set was draped in
black with an oversized portrait of Jackson in his "Thriller" werewolf
costume. Another set was designed to simulate a lush jungle, and a
fourth was built to replicate a construction site, with a screen in the
back to allow projection of different backgrounds.

Taping took
place in marathon sessions ending early in the morning. One scene
filmed on the construction site set included scantily clad male dancers
wearing carpenter's belts.

According to Stimulated's Web site,
the company was hired to produce screen content for Jackson's planned
comeback concerts in London. Stimulated has worked with Def Leppard and
the Pussycat Dolls, and produced content for the Academy Awards and the
Emmys.

Last year, U2 released the concert film "U2 3D," a film
of the band's 2005-06 Vertigo tour, shot at several shows in South
America with 3-D technology.

At the time, guitarist The Edge told The Associated Press the 3-D technology allowed "the songs to shine through."

the earth); and The Way You Make Me Feel (2D theatrical background
featuring male dancers fashioned as historical construction workers).
The setlist includes among others: Wanne Be Startin' Somethin', Jam,
They Don't Care About Us/Drill medley, Human Nature, Smooth Criminal,
The Way You Make Me Feel, Black or White, Jackson 5 Medley, Off the
Wall, I Just Can't Stop Loving You, Dangerous, Thriller/Threatened
medley, Beat It, We are the World and Earth Song.
Other video sequences for the background Chaos LED screen to be set
onstage behind him would include the following: Flashes and Glimpses
(historical timeline of last century in 90 seconds); Startin' Somethin'
(animation with letters MJ and words This Is It); Jackson 5 Medley
(graphic animation featuring Jackson 5 logo); I Just Can't Stop Loving
You (animation of a baroque hall of mirrors); Dangerous (graphic
animation replicating brainwaves); Dirty Diana (graphic animation
replicating fire); We are the World (graphic animation containing
religious icons); and Heal the World (stock footage of children).
So guys, can you imagine how grand and beautiful that concert was
suppose to be? Imagine a concert with 3D effects with all the new
technology and to add to that are illusions and some magic? I know it's
going to be breathtaking as Mike would have always wanted it. It really
was going to be the most amazing production in history, again breaking
all barriers and creating a concert experience like no other. Mikey was
really a genius! He authored his concert and nobody can pull that
off...no one....ONLY MICHAEL JACKSON!

Prince Marvin Gaye Beyonce fans etc they don´t need to ask the question in the first place because Prince etc. is always performing live. Every big Artist today is performing live.Only a few teeny stars are miming but they are not big stars like Elton John, Prince, Rolling Stones etc etc.

Look, everyone here is an MJ fan. My favorite song is Smooth Criminal and I definitely wouldn't want MJ to sing it live and sacrifice the incredible dancing! But I would like to know what MJ did and didn't sing live, not for scrutiny or criticism, but just to know as a trivial fact about This Is It and Michael's last performances. And if he did lip-sync everything (which he didn't ;)), I genuinely wouldn't care; like I've said before, I'd pay the ticket price for 2 hours of the flip-flap move. :D

SO I hope that I could watch the This is it DVD many times with real raw live vocals-and not a mini playback show.

I respect your opinion. Personally Im as big a fan of the dancing as the singing. So watching him dance over and over again without singing live isnt a problem to me. The live singing is just a massive bonus to me.

The 3d bits were called the dome project i.e smooth criminal, earth song, thriller.They are in the film (as far as i am aware) but they are not finished, you will be seeing them, but not in 3d.

Sorry, I had to respond to that - "MJ is a dancer??? Really??" Are you retarded? Thriller, Billie Jean, Beat It, Smooth Criminal, Bad, TDCAU - Michael wasn't A dancer he was THE dancer. He sang a lot of his stuff live, and if you'll notice, Beyonce (who is 29) does lip-sync during various parts of her songs. Not to mention she could never match Michael's moves. I don't think you had your eyes open during The BAD Tour if you didn't think MJ was dancing "much," and as for you "hating strict choreography", your tastes don't really matter in what you're trying to say. Ok Mike didn't sing live during the History tour because he had a severe case laryngitis, case closed.
Now Lets back up the Dangerous Tour, you try dancing a ton and singing some songs live for 2.5 hours. Trust me you will want a break, and that's why he would do songs like MITM lip sinked. I do theatre, I know how tiring it is to sing and dance together for an extended period of time.
And Michael's vocal coach for the past thirty 30's was Seth Riggs (http://www.speechlevelsinging.com/seth_mj2009_statement.html) and I met Seth over the summer and he talked about how hard Michael was re-training his voice to sing This Is It live. He wanted to show the world he could do it again and go out with the biggest bang ever (As evident by the trailer so far).

The lip-syncing vs. live singing debate has been done a lot on this board, as well as others. And that's why some people get upset. However, I don't see the harm in discussing it in here because everyone is wondering if he switched things up for this tour or not. The setlist is very similar to the HIStory tour and I'm sure many, myself included, are wondering if it was similar to that or if he revamped it at all and included more live vocals.

I don't see why people get their ruffles so easily around here.

We know this almost as a fact - he didn't mime the majority. By default, the singing we could say is therefore better than the HIStory tour. One could assume it's on the level of the Dangerous Tour (from what mkgenie can remember).

I think its a great concert movie. Some sets and concepts are just spectacular.
but not a real good documentary: the storyline, if it should have any, is weak.

and the way you make me feel, wow, and the accapella of Speechless, wow again (I guess I'm just dying to hear songs from Invincible).

The lip-syncing vs. live singing debate has been done a lot on this board, as well as others. And that's why some people get upset. However, I don't see the harm in discussing it in here because everyone is wondering if he switched things up for this tour or not. The setlist is very similar to the HIStory tour and I'm sure many, myself included, are wondering if it was similar to that or if he revamped it at all and included more live vocals.

I don't see why people get their ruffles so easily around here.

Thank you so much mkgenie for your info. Really appreciate it. I just have one simple question. It seems to me from the trailer and the pictures that Michael never actually performed these songs in full costume. In most of the footage, if not all..he's wearing a combination of weird outfits..(like red pants and gold jackets..) Does he ever actually perform any of the songs in the movie with full costume? Like does he wear the red beat it jacket during beat it? And does he wear the billie jean 'costume' during the song? Thanks.

Interesting that you say it is "weak" as a documentary but the performances will blow us away - that's exactly what we (the fans) wanted: LOTS of rehearsal footage and less documentary and talking heads!! :-)
