View Full Version : Does it frustrate you when people call you "blind"?

I'm sorry if I put this in the wrong place but I just have to rant.
If you all remember back during the trial, if you went out and supported Michael, you were nothing more than a "blind" fan. Someone who loves a celebrity so much, that they can't see the "obvious". I think we kind of saw the detractors in the same way. We were the ones who learned the facts, we were the ones to went through 5 months of court transcripts, we were the ones who won lottery tickets to be inside the court room and see this accuser testify. So, to us, it was everyone else who failed to see the obvious. I used to wonder "why the eff can't they see what we see? Why can't they see that this whole trial is garbage?!" Whenever fans would defend Michael, we would be written of as some type of raving lunatic. We had been called a pedoworshiper, f'loon, w.acko, crazy, insane, obsessed, you name it. Our opinions, even though based on facts, would be dismissed because we were fans. No one would take us seriously. They all believed we were the "blind" ones and they were all objective, reasonable individuals who weren't influenced by celebrity and therefore knew the "truth". Yet, the real truth was staring at them in the face and they couldn't see it. So how were we blind?
Fast forward to Michael's death. Now we are "blind" and in "denial" because we are insisting that Michael wasn't addicted to painkillers when he passed. We can't see the "obvious" apparently. We worship Michael so much, and we see him as such a perfect little angel, that we can't admit he was on painkillers. We could show people the autopsy report, where there is not ONE painkiller in Michael's system, and somehow, someway, they STILL can't see it. It's the same with the Vitiligo. I had a friend contact me on facebook after I posted an article confirming that Michael Jackson had vitiligo. This friend was someone I hadn't actually seen or spoken to since I was 11 years old. But hey, she wanted to add me as a friend, so I accepted her request. So, she wrote to me to tell me that I'm "blind" because I actually believed Michael when "everyone knows he bleached himself white". When I told her it had been confirmed through autopsy, she responded with something along the lines of "the family paid the coroner to include it in the report". Right. So, this "bleaching skin" story that was created back in the 80s because folks didn't have a reasonable explanation for Michael's colour change, is actually more believable than autopsy results, dermatologist statements and medical records?
Shortly before or after Michael's death, I read an article about Whitney Houston. In the article it said something like "Whitney fans are rather like Michael Jackson fans: they bury their heads in the sand". I just said to myself, "in what way have we buried our heads in the sand? Because we believed him to be innocent, we were in denial and we were blind? There were actually reasons behind why we believed Michael Jackson was innocent. There were facts in the case that pointed to innocence. We weren't blindly believing he was innocent. If everyone else weren't so blinded by their own stupid agendas they would be able to see that he was innocent as well."
Does anybody else get frustrated when people dismiss your contribution in a discussion about Michael because they see us as "blind"? I've actually been thinking about this "blind" thing for a while. What is it that makes them think we are so blind? You would think that us being MJ fans, they would know we have researched the man, and we have seen court documents about his trial and documents relating to his death, that they would say "These fans must know what they are talking about. Let's listen to them." But nobody takes us seriously because they see us as crazy, insane lunatics. According to them, our opinions are "biased", our research is "worthless", and our love for MJ has caused us to be "blind" to his faults. Sometimes I feel like "what's the point in trying to defend him if they are just going to dismiss me." Does this get on anyone else's nerves?
(Again sorry about this rant. I had to get it off my chest. And I'm just curious to know if this "blind" stuff bothers other fans as much as it does me. I apologise in advance to the mods if this is in the wrong place. Feel free to move it to the appropriate section.)

Sometimes I feel like "what's the point in trying to defend him if they are just going to dismiss me." Does this get on anyone else's nerves?(sigh) Actually I had a dealing with family members on my facebook recently. My cousin wrote on my wall...... I'll quote it exactly actually....
"Oh get over it. He was a great entertainer, but past his prime. I think his fans killed him. He should have retired long before his death, as to not work over-time just to please his fanatics."
So then I invited my MJ friends to come over and say something about it. And then some of my other family members got involved....
Then I see my other cousin write to the same cousin.... quote
"I am laughing so hard right now- You released MJ fan monsters!! Maybe you should tell them that its cool to be a fan of something, but probably not healthy to be obsessed!!! I mean I like Britney Spears but my world wont come to an end if he dies- Maybe its cause I HAVE A LIFE!!!"
I just felt down after that you know... I decided to delete those cousins from my facebook. I'm tired of them putting MJ down, and me down. My cousin practically called me a monster. :( I mean look, I know there was a phase in my life where I actually was OBSESSED with Michael. But right now in my life, I am pretty well balanced... but nonetheless, she shouldn't call me a monster.
So yeah, I know exactly how you feel. THEY don't know the facts. THEY don't know MJ like we do. And you know what???... THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US.
Don't worry about it.
You can't fix stupid :D

Darvon I had to delete a coworker who pretty much did the same thing and a few of my old classmates. I found it to be really disrespectful that at a time I was grieving they choose to laugh at me when I needed comfort. Thank god for the delete button lol Im better off without their negativity.

Narrow-minded people cannot see what we see. They are people who do not how the world works, how Michael Jackson the brilliant, money making entertainer came along and every Tom Dick and Harry wanted a piece of pie. People would stop at absolutely nothing to make a buck.
I guess it's how the world works. I think one quote that comes to mind is "nothing personal, strictly business." I doubt anything was personal against MJ, just people and organisations wanting to leech off him. The people that cannot see this are the ones that are blind, not us.

You know it's funny how the idiot MJ haters who whine and rant about how we MJ fanatics are too "bliiiiiinnnnded and deluuuusional" to see the "truth" :rolleyes2: are usually the ones who aren't even capable of showing facts and evidence that back up their BS arguments. I think many haters just want to believe those allegations against MJ simply because they help justify their demented, pyschotic hatred for MJ. Any intelligent, mentally healthy person would be happy and glad to look at evidence that exonerates MJ and proves his innocence. Honestly I feel sorry for the haters sometimes; they are just a bunch of miserable, delusional individuals who get a kick out of having nauseating fantasties about MJ having sex with "wittle boys" and if you try to tell them, albeit gently that that stuff isn't true, they start screaming like hysterical dim-wits. Ignore them, I say. Michael Jackson haters are an embarassement to our human society.

They're the ones who are "blind" and in denial.
Got a fact about the case? Every time they'll come back with some stupid retort, even if they don't know anything about that particular fact.
For example...
Fact: Michael did not make any kind of settlement in the 2005 case, he was found not guilty of all charges.
Retort: Yeah...well he bribed the judges and jury. No way could he have been found innocent without bribing anyone!
Fact: The Arvizos initially defended Michael.
Retort: *Actually believes that they were held captive in Neverland and forced to say those things by Michael Jackson.*
...I could go on and on...
Everything StephluvsMJ said is, unfortunately, 100% true. Take the trial - we were crazy MJ fans because we took the time to go through transcripts, find facts, and speak out. This, however, didn't sit well with the rest of the world - because that would actually mean...gasp...Michael was innocent. No way, nonsense. If MJ was accused of molesting a child, then it had to be true! If any child was molested, *gasp*...it had to be Michael Jackson!
That is the mindset these people have. They have been raised by the media. Everything the media says is truth. I mean, why would the media lie, right?
What I don't understand since Michael's death, is why I see a whole lot of fans being called new fans. Im sure there are some who rediscovered Michael, but I certainly don't know of any who suddenly became fans. Any and all Michael haters that I've had to deal with, are still Michael haters to this day. Every truth I threw back to them through the years were denied. I can still throw the same truth to them today, with even more evidence, and they will still sit there and deny it.
I've learned to deal with it, ignore it. I tell them to be original. Tell me something I haven't heard. You're only spouting something you've heard someone else say. I've heard it all before, buddy. And they stay quiet and say "whatever". But I've grown tired of it...after so many years, at least show some respect to a man you've never even met. At least show some respect to a man who can no longer defend himself. While you're at it, how bout you show some respect for yourself and show me you actually have a mind of your own.

Well said Hope. That is so true. I have had some success, my step brother who always takes what the media says as gospel actually listened to me since Michael's passing. I said to him that he should look at all the facts and make his own opinion and that being intelligent means forming your own opinion on actual fact not gossip/rumour. He is now quite a fan, albeit not as much as I am!
You know what, we are not the ones who are blind....those who read fabricated tabloid trash and believe every word are blind, they are blind to the reality not just of Michael but of the entire world, have they not even heard of spin doctors, and Murdoch! Ignorance is like a pandemic in this world.

I honestly don"t give a f*** what people think any more.
I was defending Michael and wearing MJ badges and a T-shirt while ppl were staring at me. I was just smiling back at them. It gave me even more strenght to fight for him.
And after 25.6...when everybody started to wear MJ-T shirts, it made me sick. I almost felt stupid for wearing mine, you know. Like most of them...it was so cool to rediscover Michael again. And they only know about Thriller and Billie Jean. Please.
If the whole world would laughs at me I will love him forever. And beyond.

And they only know about Thriller and Billie Jean. Please.A bit off-topic, but that reminds me of this thing on MTV...some celebrities going to some place soon after he passed away to celebrate him.
One said something along the lines of: 'I've always loved Michael Jackson, he's played a big part in my life...what was that one song he did...uh...?" *Hums Billie Jean baseline*

So, so, so true! A few months ago, I was in my Spanish class and by stupid classmates (I'm very happy for new fans, but the ones in my class aren't fans, they don't respect Michael) started asking the teacher "Have you seen This Is It? Hey!!! Have you seen it?" And he said "Hell, no! Michael Jackson is not music! In a few years time he won't be remembered!" He said more horrible things, but I don't want to hurt anyone. After class I went to him and said "Look, I wanna be you sincere but if you insult Michael Jackson once more, I won't be going to class, I swear." And he was "I'm sorry, I didn't want to hurt your feelings, I was feeling frustrated for all these new, not real fans, etc, I don't like his music, I think he's overrated, but I admit Thriller and Billie Jean are OK". I was like, yeah, I'm sure you haven't been bothered to listen to any more, your minded has been blocked by all the media and tabloid!

I usually manage to nail them lol on the internet, though i stuggle in real life. Like on youtube, i win the argument, so the then resort to using all the usual names so i say. You've lost the argument, you have resorted to abusing me, so then i patronise them and say, well done, you mother must be so proud of you, look who's a big boy now etc. Half the time if you click on there channels, they are sick people anyway, who have strong voilent or sexual things on their channel or in their favorites. In fact ive come across cases of paedophiles hating MJ, which says it all...........

This is the reason why I don't ever want to wear anything MJ, because people would think I am only doing it for fad reasons.
I don't get the blind talk because I really prefur not to talk about Mike in public due to the fact that I hate talking about polarizing things and "Michael Jackson" is a polorizing topics from what people see. So when someone talks negatively about him, I will try to change the topic.

This is so true.
It's FRUSTRATING!
I hate how Mike fans are deemed as obsessive, blind and delusional. I know we can be quite passionate (lols) but most of us are reasonable. There might be some loonies I admit...but then again which fanbase doesn't?
I had an argument with someone 2 weeks ago, I think. He was like 'yea I love his music and all but come on he's a pedo and a drug addict.' He actually likes a lot of Michael's music but not him personally.
I mean, it sickens me that he calls himself a fan yet still think like that!
I swear, I was raging! Good thing, I have good self control. I told him all the facts as usual but he dismissed it all like he was desperately holding on to the fact that MJ was a bad person. Then I told him I read the court transcripts and the autopsy report so I have better judgment than him and told him to get back at me once he did.
Guess what?
He had nothing to say... What a loser...
Very true. They also like to say things like, "You defend him because you're a fan (meaning you're blinded by your love for him)"! It always amazes me to hear such things. Of course, I defend him because I am a fan! And I am a fan because I know a lot about him and know what kind of person he is! So that's why I defend him! Because I know him and not because I am blinded by love. I would not have become a fan of just anybody. Some people are simply incapable of such strong feelings and emotions themselves, so they don't understand the whole conсept of being a fan. And not just any fan, but a Michael Jackson fan (because I believe the MJ fandom is unprecedented, there's nothing like that with any other celebrity).

I was a defender of MJ before I was ever a fan. I wonder what they'd say to that...*ponders* Deep down, I just...always knew, I guess.
I've been a fan for 15 years now, and there's ALWAYS been somebody saying things like this. Mentioning that you're a fan instantly erases any credibility that you might have had. It's so wrong, because you must listen to someone before you can say that they don't know anything. If you're speaking coherently, then people need to listen......and then judge.
I just don't speak of MJ very often, because I know how people are about him. They've been that way for years. It's nothing new at all.
People don't want to be told they're wrong. They want to be right, even if what they believe is utter rubbish.
I think that choosing to act that way makes people stupider than they need to be, but if they want to be such morons so badly, then I'll leave them to it. I'm not about to argue with someone who isn't even listening.

This "blind" thing did bother me back in the 80's when all those ugly rumours came out about his face falling apart & him wanting to be white 'cause he hate blacks....there was alot of rumours spreading like wildfire on tv,radio etc.....& i was called a ***** 'cause i was a big fan...& my attemps to defend MJ failed dismally but i never gave up. Then came 1993.......oh boy i had it bad!!!!!!!!!
It felt like i was the only MJ fan in South Africa........people were turning against me & there was no one around to help me defend MJ. So i kept quiet....the haters were throwing stuff at me but i would not respond....but I still proudly wore my MJ t-shirt although i would get weird reactions from people in shopping centre's..
When the second trail came along i was told that i'm a fan of a child molester & they would say alot of other ugly things......but i kept quiet.I find it pointless speaking to someone who has no sense of sensitivity.... & there were no MJ fans around to which i could turn to & have a good old chat about the man we love...Michael Jackson.
25 june was & still is very painful for me & i don't think i'll ever get over it....but what sickens me is that all of a sudden EVERYONE here are MJ fans. When Mj died there were alot of tributes & people wearing MJ t-shirts and buying his albums....where did all of them come from....Are these not the same people who denied his innocence all these years?????? Are these not the same people who spread the rumours????? IGNORANT FOOLS!!!!
There was noway that i would attend their stupid "tributes"......i don't understand how all of a sudden they could love a man they despised/hated most of their life!!!

It more than frustrates me. I verge on tears when I hear anything bad about Michael these days. I often will make sure Michael isn't mentioned around people who are disrespectful or who like to make jokes. When I tried to explain some facts about the trials etc to people at my work I got called naive and an idiot.
Some people will never see the light. It just really saddens me :(
I remember on the day Michael's innocence was announced. I just wish the public knew what we knew. It just feels so helpless and I'm worried the truth will never fully be shown..
We've just got to keep on spreading Michael's message and the truth.

Those are people who will never change their opinion on Michael for obvious reasons. If the guy was a nazi, he would never change his opinion on MJ. Due to MJ's color. ---------------------- People need to just talk to open minded people and not people who already have an opinion on him. At least an open minded person can go and say, "Umm, maybe I'll ponder something." A person who already has their opinion set is not gonna change.

Generally speaking, public opinion is seldom worth listening to. The ones who stick by the Arvizos' story are largely pathetic human beings who rarely ever bother to research beyond what is spoon-fed to them. As far as I am concerned, anyone like that is blinder than the blind, since they don't make an effort to gain their own perspective and adopt that which is presented to them.
If anyone has ever been called "blind", I say, ignore whoever said so, even if it is family/friends. Facts acknowledge no relation.

they only call you blind when they can't argue with the facts.

My eyes actually get very fatigued when you read through the mountains of evidence that proves that Michael Jackson never committed the crimes he was accused of. I also use my eyes in connection with my brain to try and see behind the BS that some people put out.
Sometimes my eyes get a bit watery reading the horrendous amount of nonsense (it's eternal hayfever season in the media) this man had to suffer through, but it didn't render me blind, no. Just a bit heart broken. But thanks for asking...

It does, often, yes. Sometimes late at night something makes me look at these things and I get very sad, yes. And I don't know how he did it, holding on so long.

What makes me angry is when people who think that MJ is guilty will always bring up O.J Simpson. What the hell as O.J Simpson got to do with Michael Jackson anyway?

I know exactly what you're talking about, it makes me angry and frustrated too. The worst moment was when I was walking in town with a friend who didn't know I was a MJ fan. We haven't known each other that long yet and the subject had never before come up. I started to tell her all exited that I had bought some old Jackson 5 LP:s and she got this horrified look on her face like "How can you buy the records of a paedophile?" She said that she doesn't want to hear about me buying those LP:s because she hates Michael Jackson because he was a child molester. I tried to say that he wasn't at all and that she's gotten it all wrong. I tried to share my knowledge of the trial and all the accusations with her and told her what kind of research I've done on the subject and tried to tell her not to listen to the tabloids, that they are a most unreliable source of information. She just brushed me off and said: "I don't believe anything the tabloids are saying."
But I was wondering, what else was her opinion based on??? She tried to discredit my research by saying I shouldn't believe tabloids, but she didn't see that it's her that believes that bs if she believes that Mj is guilty!!!
That whole incident left me very frustrated and sad and I haven't really talked to that person after that because it made me wonder if I can be friends with someone who is that narrow minded and can hate a person so much without having the slightest clue of the truth.
I actually went home and cried after that.
It doesn't bother me so much, if someone I don't know and don't feel close to, says stupid or mean things about Michael. Because such people are not important to me, nor are their opinions. But it matters to me what my friends think and I would think that they respect me enough to believe that I am not a lunatic for liking Michael Jackson. That I am actually an intelligent person who knows how to read and do research on subjects that interest me. A person who is capable of forming my own opinion.
It bothers me that someone who says she is my friend can think that I am stupid and blind and that I could ever in a million years worship a paedophile. I don't have this same problem with my other friends. They don't think less of me for liking Michael Jackson, even if they don't like him so much themselves.
But this one person is now a real problem for me, I can't really feel secure and trusting with her anymore. I don't really know what to do.
Many other friends of mine have become interested in the facts after I have explained some things to them and named a few sources. They want to read about it too and are appalled at the media for portraying Michael so wrongly.

Yes, it does frustrate me when people call me "blind" or "delusional" for defending MJ. Usually the people who bash him are completely unaware of the facts, and if you tell them they just dismiss it. You cannot win with them. I swear one time I was arguing with someone on the internet and I showed him the facts of the court transcripts and autopsy report. His response? "Those documents are fake". And with that, the argument was done. When I told him I had read the FBI files regarding Michael Jackson he was like "yeah right, as if you have access to these things muhahaha" until I showed him the link to the documents from the official FBI website. His response? Complete silence, he just moved on to the next argument. That's what I mean, you cannot win with them. Nobody likes to admit they're wrong, esp. not mentally disturbed people who like to imagine MJ molesting little boys despite all the evidence that speaks against it.

Those people want Michael to be guilty. So by them wanted Michael to be guilty then that means that they actually wanted those kids to be molested. They are the real sick ones.
I think that some people's hatered for MJ blinds them from seeing any logic. Any normal human being would be happy to learn that Michael was innocent because then that would mean that no kids have been hurt.
Also while some people whine and bitch about Michael the real child molesters are still out there

This past semester at college, I was hanging around outside with a bunch of friends, and somehow the subject of our discussion led to Michael. Now most of the knew how big of a fan I am, but one of them didn't. He said "Oh I think the guy is a phenomenal entertainer, but what did he molest like 30 kids or something?" At that point I was infuriated at the lack of respect and the obvious lack of information, and when I tried to present the FACTS to him, he would say "I don't care, I don't wanna hear it" and cover his ears so he couldn't hear me.
These people don't want to know the facts. They want to know what they already think they know. These are the "blinded" ones, not us.

Wow just wow
I think that alot of people don't want to listen to the facts about the trial because then they would have to say three simple words. ''I was wrong'' and some hate to admit they are wrong

A lot of white people are very racist too in within their subconscious mind because of the state-owned media conditioning. Every time they turn on the news you never hear anything positive about certain races. Black people are stereotyped as uneducated criminals and prostitutes on the news, Brown people (people from the Middle East) are stereotyped as terrorists. Mexicans are stereotyped as lazy and become scapegoats for economic problems. The state is using the media to try to demean these races to attempt to rationalize their racist belief in White supremacy without coming forth and saying it out loud. People take this media stereotyping into their subconscious mind, and when a Black person is accused for a crime, they immediately believe that they are guilty even when all evidence points to their innocence, they will subconsciously believe that Black people are all automatically criminals and liars. I'm a White person who hears a lot of people making racist jokes about other races, or they will complain and say stupid **** like "We should bomb those muslims" or they'll say "Black people are like monkeys", you know idiotic racist **** like that. The reason people refuse to accept the possibility that people like Michael Jackson, OJ, Kobe, R Kelly etc could actually be innocent, because they have that racist mindset which they have been indoctrinated with.

I've been accused of "sweeping the truth under the rug," in defence of Michael. Oh, the good mind-beating I gave to the poor, unfortunate bas--ard who said that to me. I am many things-- sadistic, unsociable, eccentric, whatever. But one thing I am not is ignorant. If I support someone/something, I have a reason for doing so, and I know the facts of it for certain.

you know...I have heard a lpt of ppl say.." oh, just let them talk, they are ignorant."
I can"t do that.
Few days after 25.6 2009...at work I got into a fight.
My heart was broken and I was in a state of shock, you can imagine how I felt.
I bought a magazine that had MJ with his kids on the cover. I was carrying it and one girl (she was about 21 years old then ) said when she saw the magazine:
" Will they stop writting about that paedpphile...I am glad he died !!!!! "
I bet my eyes turned red at that moment and I bet I had a scary expression on my face because she took few steps back when I turned to her. ( all of ppl around me knew how much I love michael )
I told her to shut the f**** because she knows absolutely nothing about MJ. ( the only song she knew about was Billie Jean. ). I asked her did she know he was found NOT Guilty..did she know how Michael cared about the world...the environment..animals...justice in the world...poor people...etc. I said a lot of things.
She was just standing there with a stupid look on her face. She knew nothing.
I never talked to her again. Whenever MJ is a subject..if ppl don"t know a thing about him...I talk in his behalf.

Don't let it frustrate you cause you're not the only one who are called that.
Actually I don't care what people think about me, they don't know me, and I know myself better than anyone in this world. :)
If they call you blind. - Call them ignorant. Cause they are truly ignorant.
