I know this already! And I still didn't like hearing it!

To me when Oprah did the 93 special it was clear she didn't get Michael! The way she ask her questions were just silly! Asking him does he bleach his skin...:bugeyed and is his skin that why cause he don't want to be black! :doh: She asked that way because she too believe the rumors!

To me this seems more like PR control. Oprah found out of some strong reactions MJ fans got, and suddenlly we found out this.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out this is actually true. I mean, let's be for real, an interview with JUST Ms. Katherine and Joe Jackson ain't gonna sell by itself.

First of all, Ms. Katherine already did that Dateline interview and it broke no "viewer" records and Joe Jackson is always talking to somebody. LOL! But now you add Michael's children to the mix and you have what they like to call "Must See TV."

I said it before and I'll say it again: "It's all about that book and being able to move copies." (I have a feeling that aside from a handful of MJ fans who visit his various sites, this book has not moved that many copies.)

And more importantly, the attorneys for AEG. Just like Murray's legal team, AEG's legal team is waiting and watching for any contradiction they can use. (And in my opinion, Murray's CIVIL team is already ahead of the game, because of Joe and Oxman's rush to file everything under the sun.)

This is exactly why any attorney worth his salt would advise their client to stay quiet, i.e. "NO INTERVIEWS, which can come back and haunt you at a later date." And I'm more than positive the Mr. Streisand has advised Katherine that interviews at this time are not a good idea.

And when she did speak about him publicly, it was regarding that Family Reunion Concert. She told both Larry King and Ellen that she was having conference calls with her brothers and there was only ONE hold out. She never mentioned Michael's name, but folks knew who she was speaking about (LOL). She said that they were still working on that person and that she was willing to open for them.

That's another thing that NEVER jived with me. I mean, if Michael were in such bad shape and in such denial, why in the world was she pushing him to join the rest of the brothers on stage. I'm sorry, but those two stories do not mesh, in my opinion.

Oprah realized the folly of her ways after MJ died and she saw "This Is It".

When I saw her talking to Kenny Ortega about "This Is It" I could tell she had a truly life-changing experience and she realized she had let herself be deceived and become part of the Tabloid Junkies.

Michael barely let the public see his kids' faces. There's no way that he would let them do an interview. When they're adults, it's their choice. But, right now, they're just kids.

Do they have their own management and PR people to help them navigate through the entertainment world and look out for their best interests? I highly doubt it. Do they even understand how valuable their "first interview" is? They should be deciding who the interviewer is, what questions are allowed to be asked, and how much they are getting paid. Marc Schaffel, Katherine, or Joe shouldn't be making these decisions.

If any of these kids want to be in the entertainment business, they need to learn that they need to control their own image and career. Their family shouldn't be using them to score interviews for themselves.

This is a question I've long had r/t television show ratings.

I live in the U.S. To my knowledge, unless you are involved in a Nielson (sp) ratings survey, there is no accurate counting of viewers watching a television program. Because I turn my TV on and watch a show, who would know what I am watching?

Presumably it's possible to check/gauge the numbers by tracking the number of hits checking her show out on her site/program/designated channel online (ie CBS/NBC/ etc.).

OR by obseving the number of hits/responses/viewers to any You Tube or similar venue, but not by watching the actual show on my television.

I understand not wanting to give her the viewing ratings when the show is actually aired, but in reality, by watching it on You Tube, etc., wouldn't that be a more accurate indication of interest versus just turning the show on and watching it on your own tv when it is aired?

Someone clarifying this with some accurate and confirmed info on this, not just heresay/speculation/assumption, would be appreciated.

In my opinion, the only reason Ms. Katherine is doing this interview is to promote her book. The same book that Howard Mann is attached to.

This is a question I've long had r/t television show ratings.

I live in the U.S. To my knowledge, unless you are involved in a Nielson (sp) ratings survey, there is no accurate counting of viewers watching a television program. Because I turn my TV on and watch a show, who would know what I am watching?

Presumably it's possible to check/gauge the numbers by tracking the number of hits checking her show out on her site/program/designated channel online (ie CBS/NBC/ etc.).

OR by obseving the number of hits/responses/viewers to any You Tube or similar venue, but not by watching the actual show on my television.

I understand not wanting to give her the viewing ratings when the show is actually aired, but in reality, by watching it on You Tube, etc., wouldn't that be a more accurate indication of interest versus just turning the show on and watching it on your own tv when it is aired?

Someone clarifying this with some accurate and confirmed info on this, not just heresay/speculation/assumption, would be appreciated.

In time though, the frenzied speculation surrounding his death died down, some very good and truthful books about Elvis were released, and the focus is now back on the man and the music. I am going to wait to see it for myself before i judge, i know the media like to take a few quotes and make a sensationalized story on it. Yeah, they all knew about his "supposed" problem, but that didn't stop them from BEGGING him to go on stage with the brothers again, including Janet as the opening act (her words).

Joe, the brothers, Janet, Katherine, Rowe, and All Good Entertainment, collectively were BEGGING Michael to perform again. Yet we are supposed to believe that he had some big drug addiction.

The interview aired this morning on Oprah. I am sure in a short time it will be up on You Tube just as the LMP interview was. I really need to take a little time with this to process it all. I so agree Jenny. Everybody I've ever spoken to who knew Michael has had nothing but praise for Michael as a person and especially as a father. If he were in the condition claimed, he would not have been able to function that way as a Fat...her and he would not have been the kind of Father that we know he was. Someone in that condition would not be able to care for his kids the way he did and to raise them properly, which we know he did. It's clear and evident.

There is a lot of deception out there and there are concerns that many are being directed to say certain things about his condition (however inaccurate) to make the world believe that he had a serious drug/addiction problem and therefore caused his own death. Even in today's interview....Oprah directed so many questions at Mrs. K to push the interview in a certain direction...asking her about the drugs, about the molestation charges, about the baby dangling incident and Michael as a father, about the veiling of the children, about his surgeries...again not ONE mention of his humanitarianism. Very upsetting. I think that Mrs. K is definitely being given bad advice and counsel.

Michael Jackson Kids Talk about their Dad

As an album of Michael Jackson's previously-unheard music nears its release, his family is ready for a release of its own.

In a candid interview with Oprah Winfrey airing on "Oprah" today, Jackson's children, Prince, Paris, and Blanket, opened up about their pop icon father for the first time since his death.

Surrounded by their cousins at the Jackson family's California compound, Havenhurst, Prince, 13, and Paris, 12, talked about growing up with Michael.

"I kind of felt like no one understood what a good father he was. He was the best cook ever," Paris told Winfrey. "He was just a normal dad."

"He made the best French toast in the world," she added. "He just made the best breakfasts in the world."

Prince and Paris described Michael as "strict" but said he often treated them to sweets like Snickers candy bars and Coca-Cola.

"He tried to raise us without us knowing who he was, but that didn't really go so well," Paris said, smiling.

The two shared their favorite memories of Michael.

"We were in Bahrain, and we used to wake up early and walk on the beach," Prince said.

"One time we were on the roof of the Luxor in Las Vegas, just saw all the city lights," Paris said. "We were eating Snickers, we had some soda."

"Sometimes he would take me to a museum, because we both loved art," Paris added. "We'd play tag outside. He got us Kenya [their dog] four years ago."

Blanket, 8, barely spoke during the interview, answering "yes" when Winfrey asked if he was still home-schooled. Blanket added that while Prince "could get away with anything," when it came to being disciplined by Michael, he could not.

They also talked about their hobbies and ambitions.

"I'd like to be an actress when I'm older," Paris told Winfrey. "I sometimes do improv. I used to do it with my dad."

Prince said his favorite pastimes were "video games and sports." He said he wants to "produce movies and direct" when he grows up.

Winfrey wrapped up her interview with a poignant question -- "What do you miss the most?"

"Everything," Paris replied.

Jackson's mother and father, Katherine and Joe Jackson, also talked to Winfrey about their son's life, death, and how they're raising his three children.

"You know what broke my heart more than anything else in this world? When people at the hospital told us, 'You can leave now,' and Paris and Prince said, 'Where are we going?'" Katherine said.

She said that while the children are adjusting to their new life "very well," they often reminisce about their father.

What they talk about is, 'Daddy would do this and daddy would do that.' Or, 'That's how Daddy did it,'" Katherine said. "Paris is very emotional. She talks about him all the time. She's the strong one. All the pictures on her wall in her bedroom are of Michael."

Katherine called the day Jackson died, June 25, 2009, "the worst day of my life." She's dedicated a new book in his memory, "Never Can Say Goodbye."

"They didn't tell me he was dead. They wanted me to come to the hospital," she said. "They made the doctor tell me," she added, referring to Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson's personal physician.

"I said, 'How is he? How is he, did he make it?' And he said 'No, he's gone,'" Katherine told Winfrey before breaking into tears.

Murray has plead not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter for allegedly administering a fatal dose of the drug Propofol to Jackson and is due back in court in January. In addition, Joe Jackson has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Murray.

Katherine refused to say whether or not she thinks Murray murdered her son.

"I can't accuse him of murder," she told Winfrey. "I don't know if it was accidentally done or if it was intentionally done."

She admitted that she tried to keep him away from drugs like Propofol, just as she tried to get him to stop undergoing plastic surgery.

"I thought it was too small," she said of Jackson's post-surgery nose, adding that it looked "like a toothpick at one time." "I had told him, 'That's enough, why do you keep going?'"

Meanwhile, Joe Jackson used his time with Winfrey to emphasize that while he "never beat" Michael or any of this other children, he did hit them with a strap.

"He used a strap. Yes he did, he used a strap," Katherine said, sitting next to Joe.

Joe defended his actions.

"It kept them out of jail. It raised them right," he said. "My kids have never been in jail. Nine kids, never been in jail."

No discussion regarding how generous Michael was? Mrs. Jackson had the opportunity to steer the discussion anyway she wanted to. Unbelievable!

Oh and in my opinion, she can forget about selling that book. After that interview (and what Mann pulled the other day), I'm not sure many people will be interested in her coffee table book.

Afer just reading what Paris and Prince said my heart is aching, literally. God, it's just so unfair! I'd never cope with it, while they seem so brave. Little Angels.
I don't wanna go into discussion abt Oprah in general and how he ran this discussion. I share most of your opinions.
I just wish the Children would find the way to somehow grow beyond all those family issues :(
