With the Michael album just available on the shelves there are already new projects the Michael Jackson Estate is working on. One of the next projects will be the re-release of Off The wall with the help from Quincy Joneshttp://twitter-badges.s3.amazonaws.com/t_mini-a.png. The plan is for Quincy to take charge of the project.

Another project is the re-release of the Bad album and a first time official release of the Bad World Tour on DVD. This would only be done with the help of the original crew who worked with Michael in the past.

The Immortal World Tour by Cirque du Soleil will start in 2011. There might be an album featuring the soundtrack of the new Michael Jackson themed Cirque du Soleil show in Vegas. Mind you, it’s a different concept and it’s written by somebody else than the world tour.

Reports that Sonyhttp://twitter-badges.s3.amazonaws.com/t_mini-a.png will release 10 albums of new material as part of their new deal with the Michael Jackson Estate have been confirmed to be false. The deal was made for 10 projects – not all of them feature never-before-released material. Part of the 10 project deal has already been released: This Is It, Vision DVD boxset and the new Michael album.

http://www.legendarymichaeljackson.nl/?p=3151

BTW TII isnt apart of the 10 project deal. That was a separate $60M deal just for TII. $250M 10 project deal includes VISION, Experience (music on game) & MICHAEL.

This has been mentioned lots of times already so it seems pretty likely to be true.

The article is wrong about "This is It" not being part of the 10 project deal, it was included.

That last part wasnt in the article and its not wrong, Estate were shopping TII around and higher offers yet they went with Sony for $60M. TII was released in October.

Later, in March 2010, Sony & Estate signed a $250M for 10 projects (not albums) which have included VISION, Experience (due to the long list of MJ songs on it) & MICHAEL. 7 projects left - OTW = 6 projects.

Sony chewing through the projects quick. Years to go yet.

OK, well I believe this WSJ article:

The deal retroactively covers the soundtrack album to "This Is It," plus a range of other releases, some of which have been mapped out, with others to be determined later. An album of previously unreleased songs is likely to hit stores before the end of this year, and another collection is due out later. The deal is also likely to cover expanded reissues of Mr. Jackson's albums "Off the Wall" and "Bad," as well as collections of remixes. A DVD of all of Mr. Jackson's music videos is likely to be created at some point.

I hate it, but I can't help but feel this is gonna be Yokohama.........though I do like the sound of "Bad WORLD Tour"...........but it better be not just an official release of a documentary about the whole thing with just clips of the music.

PLEASE let the powers that be make the right decision with this. It isn't all that hard.

It makes sense that they would choose a later show if they can, as opposed to an '87 show like Yokohama. During the second leg, he performed more hits and recognizable songs for the general public. The 1st leg had a lot of Jacksons stuff and less MJ songs.

Yes, lets hope they don't go cheap and put ot the Yokohama version as they did with Dangerous Bucharest.

They arent going to go with Yokohama.

They'd go for one with a better set list, which is of course the 2nd leg.

I'm sure they would end up mixing the DVD with clips from several concerts like they did with Bucharest.

Sony's ten part deal with The Michael Jackson Estate shocked everyone, especially close friends who said at the time there was not enough material for five albums, let alone ten.

The fact of the matter is, the deal was for ten PROJECTS and n...ot ten albums.

“This Is It,” “Vision” and “Michael” are all part of that deal, that leaves seven more projects. The next project will be a remaster of “Off the Wall” with the help of none other than Quincy Jones. The Estate say the plan is for Quincy to take charge of the project, which will include some never-before-heard outtakes.

More excitingly, another project will include a remaster of “Bad,” the album will include the first official release of Michael's BAD TOUR!

The fans have demanded it and Sony, along with The Estate have taken action. No dates have been confirmed and will most likely not be for quite some time.

This information comes from John Branca, whilst in New York MJNEWSALERTS got the chance to meet him personally.

Well, ALL the songs for me! lol...The difference is massive..I do love the HIStory tour...the dancing is off the hook...But all around, I love the rawness of the Bad tour...raw, live EXCEPTIONAL vocals, boundless energy..and mostly just Mike on stage, no special effects, no huge spectacle (not that I mind this, i LOVE when Mike is go big or go home)...but all around..the Bad Tour is just awesome...

Ok, I am very, very excited to read this but then... didn't we read just some 4 days ago Sony was NOT to do this since they said there was no market potential for this release? (and we all went ). This information here confirms what we were discussing (with kindda of relieve, I must add), that Sony didn't have all his material. So if they are now "buying" the material, then this means this potencial DVD of Bad Tour would not be part of the 10 projects they already paid for.

So.... is this an additional project (say 11 project) and more money is involved? So the Estate IS to continue working with Sony in releasing more MJ material?

Please, don't get me wrong. I don't mean to fall in the anti-sony talk here, I just mean to know what is really going on, since this is totally contrary to what we read from a direct source just 4 /5 days ago.

Thanks!! :flowers:

I define a live concert with live singing, but, yes, HIStory tour is cool too. But beside the live singing during the Bad tour Michael had a great aura. He looked good, fit and unstressed. I love seeing him laughing while he sings APOM.

Is this official news from Michael's estate with a proper statement, or just hearsay. I'm sure at some stage one a Bad Tour concert will be released in DVD. Hopefully it will be a 3 disc Blu-ray or DVD set compromising of 3 separate Bad Tour concerts, hopefully Kansas City, Rome and London from 1988. But I won't take this news as official until I see an official statement about the project on Sony's Michael Jackson website michaeljackson.com.

Oh, Gaz, please, lol!
I didn't mean you have any relation to what they posted, I meant what you posted here, explaining you were in that meeting and that you had let him know how fans are so eagerly waiting for this concert in particular. Then you added they will release a double DVD some time during 2012. Then I asked you about you working really close to the Estate and you told me about they improving their lerning curve.
I just meant that

Seccond Disc: Bad Tour 1988/89 (Either Los angeles or wembley but i think wembely would be the best idea)

Third Disc, 1988 rehearsal, with interviews with the crew seeing mihcael work behind the scenes (Just like this is it)

I don't know if it's the right thread for it, but I have a question regarding Smooth Criminal:
Did he actually do the famous lean during the Bad Tour?
There are some amateur recordings of the song. For example this one:

Judging by this video, it doesn't seem that he did the lean.

But as I searched for more videos on YouTube, I found this one:

If this news turns out to be true and a Bad Tour DVD actually comes to fruition, I really hope one of the Los Angeles '89 dates is what they choose to release.

For numerous reasons...

The only thing the Wembley shows have in their favour is a 70 000 + live attendance. Plus, the amateur recordings have revealed the entire show anyway...

As for Los Angeles '89...The Tour had fully matured and extra lighting and effects were used. Mike had re-tooled his dance repotoire and his stage outfits had been enhanced. Listening to the amateur audio recordings, Mike really rocked LA in '89!

Plus, MJ himself often used footage of the LA '89 shows in many of his official promo packages. Such as at the 1993 AMA's and most famously in the 'Brace Yourself' promo reel.

Mike's concerts nearly always were so much better and enhanced towards the end of each Tour and the Bad Tour is no exception. Plus, in LA, Mike performed more songs than Wembley.

The King lives on!

That was the movie. The soundrack of TII is part of the 10 project deal. So I guess we have TII, Michael, Vision, and Experience. So we have 6 more project do go.

The 10 project deal was retroactive with the This Is It album, so that album is included in the deal.

The DVD Vision and the Michael album are also included in the deal. The video game is a separate thing and not included.

Lets hope that the Estate for once listens to the fans. If they do all my friends will be getting a dvd from me. Just to show how amazing he was, as they all keep complaining that Michael never sang live. Plus Wembley has been approved by Michael, very important for me and probably many others.

As for a re-release of Off the wall and Bad. What would be the perks for the fans? A little better quality. Or are they going to ad some demo's that haven't leaked so we'll buy it? I'm a little apprehancive about these 2 albums.

was dirty diana done in la 1989 at all? the audio bootleg suggests he didn't.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Puz5n7NsFio

the bad tour footage in the 1989 soul train awards (with snippets of bad, beat it, billie jean, man in the mirror) has footage of dirty diana. the other snippets are clearly la, as mj had the v-neck white t-shirt (not normal t-shirt like at wembley). however, we can't see mj's t-shirt in dirty diana so it's quite vague. in the youtube comments, birchey himself doesn't think dirty diana is from la.

i can't believe we had no idea mj did a mini-lean before the final dance break in smooth criminal until now! :P this is why we must have a bad tour dvd! preferably wembley, but i think there's more la footage around.

I think the only two solo albums he didn't do tours for were "Thriller" and "Invincible" I can see why with what happened with "Invincible". But what about "Thriller"? Does anyone know?

Bad Tour DVD! How cool would that be! Wembley would be over the top. I 've seen the amateur recording and I LUV it! Perhaps the last one in L.A would be good as well (only seen snippets of that but it looks great as well). If they give us Yokohama which we already have in great quality, I 'll be so pissed!!!

The DVD will be a second leg (88-89) show!

Some days ago, the following was posted on mjnewsalerts.com:
"The Bad tour will be released on DVD in 2012. Two of the WEMBLEY shows were recorded in HQ which is perfect for a DVD release. Sony and the estate are in the process of acquiring the master copies right now, they are very confident they will have them soon."

So don't worry, they won't release Yokohama or another concert from 87.

If this is legit I may have to change my pants.

Just think of all of the people that have never seen any parts of this tour. They thought he was amazing for the Dangerous tour and This Is It? Wait till they see him for the Bad tour!! I loved his Dangerous shows but the Bad ones were just...wow.

I'd like to see History get released as well but I can live without it if they pull this off. I must also note that it kind of bugs me that some are saying, "Thats nice wheres this tour and that tour though?" Really? Sure it'd be nice to get others but the Bad tour is surely something fans have demanded for years and rightfully so. Lets embrace and enjoy this first and then worry about getting other things.

Hopefully its just a concert and nothing more. If they want commentary let that be on an extra disk or something. Just give me the show!!

Make a HUGE FAN BOX EDITION with a 87, 88 and 89 concert - and lots of behind the scenes and extra material.

Seriously if the Wembley Bad concert is shown at cinemas then that could possibly beat This Is It. I will try my best to see it as many times as possible on the big screen, my friends and I will be dressed up and heading to the cinema as if we are going to his concert-and I bet we won't be the only ones. If that concert is then released on dvd then that is going to be purchased multiple times- not for myself lol but everyone in my family and my friends are going to own a copy by the end of that year, share the love. Even better would be a boxset of the Bad tour, come on MJ Estate you have a captive audience ready for the magic

Robbsaber01

a boxset would be epic......First they should show the first show in tokyo 1987. Then release wembley AND L.A. Remember, they used to think the bad tour would be his last... Wembley had the greatest audience and hype. Therefore they should release those 3. Plus rehearsals.....

Yes, watch 'Man In The Mirror' on the 'Moonwalker' Bluray. It was shot on film. I don't think only that song was shot on film, that would be a waste an expensive medium.

big DB
07-02-2012, 06:25 PM
no it would be a waste to record a concert when they only wanted to have that song in the film, I think they probably just set up for that shot, they probably have bits and pieces of concerts but a complete one on film, i doubt.

they could probably release a blu ray but it would more than likely have a 4:3 ratio and not be widescreen.

well it was "confirmed" from people who worked at the time at the tour and also by the company (Noctrum???) that filmed the tour, that few dates were shot on film. Also that two of the wembley concerts have been professionaly audio mixed.
Look in the two big discussion threads about the bad tour. there was also snippets of the audios uploaded.

So what, many movies are released in their OAR 4:3. the importance is how the transfer is done. the cropping on Moonwalker wasn't bad at all.

In the end of the day, it's up to the Estate. If the Estate don't give anything to sony, nothing can't be released.
And the picture is like that:
Nocturne Productions - the Estate - Sony.
It's all speculation what i'm doing, but Nocturne have the footage i guess. i don't know what they have given to Michael at the time and what the estate has now in the archives or gotten from Nocturne Productions.
Sony doesn't have anything. they only distribute, what they have been given.

If I remenber right, Birchey was the one who contacted Nocturne and they said,
few Bad concerts were shot on film + plenty the recordings of the jumboscreens
one History is recorded in HD, apparently Munich.
About the Victory tour, don't remember what, how by who, but at least one is on film. thats the rumour floating around.

To be honest i don't want rehearsals as bonus featurette, knowing and seen how less to nothing Michel is doing there. to me wast of space, sorry.

According the Estate www.bad25.com is a fansite.

There is a certain website I'm not sure I am allowed to name, but I bought two FANTASTIC Blurays from there, a 1080p Bluray of Ghosts (ripped from the HDTV broadcast in Asia), and the full Munich concert, which is TRUE HD (we can confirm with sources that experimental 1080i cameras were used for the concert). They are obviously bootlegs, but EXTREMELY good quality. Personally, I find nothing wrong with buying them as long as you support the estate when there are official releases. Highly recommended, at least to see what Bluray is capable of, at least.
