Dangerous: His most complete work and one of the greatest albums in history.
Bad: His most easily accessible album and most fun to listen to while still having artistic depth.
History: Features four of his most incredible songs.
Thriller: BJ, Beat it, Thriller, Human Nature, WBSS.
Invincible: So much good and I actually really enjoy listening to it but for some reason it has never resonated with me as much
OTW:The disco element was never my favorite thing.

The no-fans knows Thriller as the best album Michael did, but fans (not all of them) have another opinion. Im one of them: Bad - Dangerous - History - Thriller - Off the wall.

I completely agree with you, on the order and the assessments. I would sneak BOTDF in there, as a companion to HIStory, but I'd probably put it between Invincible and OTW. Out of the posthumous album projects, my two favourites are Xscape and the Immortal soundtrack album.

And there's that other album. But that album no longer exists in my eyes.:(

Where's Invincible?

Motown

Looks like I'm the only one here who's familiar with the Motown albums. :D

Re: Rank MJ's Albums in Preferential Order

1. Bad - just so funky and powerful and the catchiest songs ever that never go out of fashion
2. Dangerous - definite satisfaction, tight and funky music and great vocals
3. Thriller - It has the songs that made him a star and music that never dates
4. HIStory - The highlights outweigh the filler and songs like TDCAU and Stranger in Moscow are timeless
5. Off the Wall - Funky, if slightly dated, it has all the warmth through and through
6. BODF - First five songs only
7. Invincible - Have cooled a bit here, but still love its highlights, Break of Dawn, Speechless, YRMW etc
8. Xscape - There is some great stuff here, but I have got bored with it.
9. Michael - Yawn!!!

Re: Rank MJ's Albums in Preferential Order

Dangerous ~ It's his greatest work what can i say more about it. From the released to unreleased songs and the whole era is phenomenal.

Invincible ~ most people hate this. Even fans. But i think they are so wrong. Just because all the songs weren't a hit or the fact that 9/11 happened (etc.) make this album a bad album. Infact i think it has some of the best vocals in it. Now when people listen to the album they shuffle or nit pick the songs. That's not the correct way to listen to the album because the album is not individual tracks it a whole. The songs connect. And the unreleased tracks i think is the best unreleased tracks of an album session of his. So good in fact he could've created a whole new album from the unreleased tracks alone. That's all i want to say about Invincible. This needed more explaining because it's never loved.

HIStory ~ This album is loved by the fans but the estate itself don't care about it. When Michael Jackson collection was released history wasn't in there. Just because it has a greatest hits cd doesn't change the fact that it's a masterpiece. Plus the album is a great anti media album. It's just so aggressive i love it.

Bad ~ The last Quincy album has great hits.
It's funky and i love it. Just because it's on my 4th list doesn't mean it's bad.[;)] But i'm happy Michael parted with Quincy to take control of his work. It turned out really well.

Thriller ~ What can i say, "the biggest selling album"? That's been said many times. I wanna say this is a great album but in my mind his other albums are better. (Human nature is golden.)

Off The Wall ~ I really don't like disco that much but this album has great songs. From dstyge to wdan it's a great listen. And a major move in his career.

Blood On The Dance Floor ~ Has 5 amazing songs in fact i love these sngs a lot better than most songs on the previous albums on the list. What brings me down is those 8 remixes. Not only they're bad they are just there to fill space. I know this album is technically 5 new tracks for HIStory but i think throwing 3 more songs and making it a 8 track masterpiece would be better. For example after removing all the mixes they could've added "In the back", "On the line", "Much too soon". Voila!! A great album in itself.

Re: Rank MJ's Albums in Preferential Order

My top 10

1. Dangerous (first one I ever bought, will remain special, loved the new hard sound, love all 14 tracks) 5/5
2. Off the Wall ( MJ's best vocally and so funky) 5/5
3. Jacksons Live (same reasoning as above) 5/5
4. Jackson 5 Live at the Forum ( only jumped in this year, very exciting live band even early on) 5/5
5. Thriller (full of classics) 5/5
6. Triumph (He couldn't do no wrong from 78-84 imo) 5/5
7. Destiny (Shake your body, nuff said) 5/5
8. The Jacksons (love the soul sound here, lovely ballads) 4/5
9. Bad ( perhaps the birth of the trademark MJ, vocal hiccups and tics in full power) 4/5
10. Forever Michael (features 3 of my fave Motown songs) 3,5/5
