Michael Jackson Scream - The Album

I find it funny they are promoting the ish out of this but yet barely none for the other albums and stuff after mjs death...hmmmmm

Has anybody seen this promoted in the UK recently?
I know the ad was shown on Channel 4 the day after the estate announced the album, and then again during Coronation Street (I think) on ITV, but I haven't seen anything at all.

I mean why in the world do I want an MJ album with songs that I already have.

Gee, it's like you're not the target audience or something.

When are they going to released an MJ album with songs that us MJ fans never heard before?

I mean, they already have twice. Wasn't it just days ago that you were going on about about how you have no interest in Xscape, and haven't even opened the plastic wrapping for Michael?

I must say the album cover and the promotion sightings (not here in Holland) are done as if it's a totally new Michael' Jackson album. But...

It's not. Fail.

Just a thought... If they included demos of those same tracks - more 'mega fans' would buy it.. a Collectors edition or something! They could do that on an 'order only' that way they don't have to spend extra on a lot of overhead.

is the london screening open to anyone to turn up to? so will ite be ghosts and thriller 3d playing in the cinema? Is ghosts better quality than what it looked like during the 90s premiere?

i suspect ghosts won't be enhanced. But it will be better than the vhs or vcd that most people are used to seeing.

glow in the dark packaging is not going to get big fans to buy released material.. Estate should save the money on that one! these type of things (glow in the dark etc) only works when for huge fans like us.. the issue is we only buy what we don't have material wise.. so save it for a project we will actually buy.

What makes you think this album is just for the 'big' fans?

You say that but the packaging literally has got some hardcore fans to buy it (judging by this thread and other comment sections I've seen online).

Nothing says they can't do it for both. Glow in the dark vinyl does help entice people to buy, not just big fans too. Could even be the little extra push some people need to go 'stuff it' and buy the vinyl.

If you're thinking about money, well I imagine it's still a financially sound decision otherwise the Estate wouldn't do it (and it's not like they're struggling for money either).

I think this will actually sell good, because of the Helloween theme and the promotion. Also they had very small production expences. So I think they'll earn decent amount of money from this. Probably way more than they did from Bad 25 which was aimed for "big fans" as you call them.

I think it did since announcement allready good on Amazon-preselling. It comes out just end of octobre.

I just pre-ordered both the CD and vinyl versions from amazon.de. :)

What's great is that if I know someone who likes MJ's music but doesn't know where to go after Number Ones, I can just point them towards this album since the majority of it aren't that well-known. I think it's a great insight into parts of his catalogue that are really great but not as huge as Beat It or Billie Jean or whatnot :)

There's a report floating around that confirms that the SCREAM album is, in fact, the soundtrack to the upcoming MJ Halloween animated special... that likely explains the inclusion of songs like Scream, Leave Me Alone, Unbreakable etc

Id like an album of new music as much as everyone else but they're not doing it this time, this album will be an "evergreen" album that gets bought every year for Halloween like Mariahs album does at Christmas. There's some amazing little heard tracks on there so im all for it, I dont see how Dirty Diana or Leave me alone are more danceable than Is It scary tho but its pretty obvious this is the sound track for the cartoon, if fans who have the songs dont wanna spend on it then im sure it will still do well like MJ always does ?

That was presumed from the get go imo

I was speaking specific to the packaging of glow in the dark.. Casual fans would not buy "special packaging" like glow in the dark when another standard version is available.. Who Collects "Collector" type things? Big fans... That's my point, big fans are not going to buy it.. ie. a pointless add on.

The album is for casual fans, halloween parties and new fans, the glow in the dark vinyl is to hook the collectors

IF this sells well it will be in the USA, maybe the UK. Nobody else really cares about halloween as much.
Also, this will only continue to sell year on year if it makes a big impact this year. Personally I can't see it happening, unless the cartoon is a smash hit too and I don't think that will be the case. If there was a lead single off the album (not the mash up) that could attract radio spins then maybe, just maybe this project will work. BUT as far as I've heard there is no plan to promote this with, for example, threatened as a single.

Maybe off tiopic, but you can see how Elvis Estate is using any opportunity for successful projects to keep them on earning money and having no.1s in the UK.

New Elvis Presley Christmas album with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to be released in November

It's the third album of orchestral re-workings of tracks performed by Elvis, following 2016's The Wonder Of You and 2015's If I Can Dream, the latter of which has sold over 1.1 million copies. Both reached Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart.

What about MJ with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra album????
