Tbh, I'm not a fan of combining the Michael Mania and the News section. All the threads they were sticky on Michael Mania such as the MJ chart thread, MJ unreleased songs threads aren't sticky anymore.

Love the new setup, and love the new threads as a result of.

I think the forum looks better now. One suggestion: I think the Paris section should rather be Prince, Paris and Blanket/Bigi section - so all three children of MJ, not just Paris.

TBH, I am not to comfortable with creating one with Blanket involved due to his age, Prince maybe but at this point he isn't really doing much that would generate a lot of discussion, Paris however has been going public with her projects thus there will be more discussion on it, of course this is subject to change as we move along even to the point as to whether Paris will continue with her own, for me at this point I do like to make her an individual in her own right which is what she seems to be championing lately.

Can you have a section for new MJ fans or those who have recently joined.

Fan forums are a daunting place for newbies.

I'll look into them and perhaps choose a couple that are of more importance, obviously with the combining of both sections I don't want there to be a ton of stickies.

Cheers :)

I think the combining is OK because there are hardly any news any more, but yeah, those threads that were sticky should still be sticky.

Answered above.

Was it not Ghandi who said "If a 'sticky' doesn't get more than a few posts a week then it's not deserving of its stickiness."

Then I think it could simply be called "Michael's children". I don't see a reason to open a seperate subforum for each kid when the point is to make the forum less scattered in terms of too many subforums. At the same time it seems a bit unfair if Paris is somehow made special compared to the other two kids. Prince is doing his charity work, for example, which may attract less media attention and buzz than Paris' activities but isn't any less important - especially to fans IMO.
IMO Prince deserves his own equal thread. He's not only going to college but he's set up a humanitarian group that's getting national attention and started a production co. Another tv show is in the works.
He's had great print interviews in LA Times and was on GMA, access Hollywood and Extra. Only the media pay more attention to Paris. We care about them equally.

Bigi needs privacy as he's in school, so Michael's Children for general stuff would be good.
My two cents.

Please make "Your last MJ purchase" a sticky again?

As this thread pertains to the Fans and not Michael himself this thread will be moved to the #MJJCFam section and pinned there, as will the memorabilia one.

Gaz, can I infer from what you're saying that visitor numbers are dropping too low??

If MJ fans aren't coming here (just about the only major MJ community on the net these days) then I don't know what you can do to attract more members, other than to branch out with boards for other artists in the hope that they come here. I can see why that idea might not be popular though. Perhaps you could appease the MJ fans by only targetting fans from artists who have either inspired MJ or who have themselves been inspired by MJ. Obviously you'd have most visitors by doing the latter.

Actually, I do have another idea. If there is for example a very active Chinese or Japanese MJ fan community, another option might be to diversity the site's user base by targetting specific language groups - add specific subforums where fans can communicate in their own language. I don't want to offend anybody...English is a very widely spoken language around the world, but perhaps the Chinese or Japanese fans may not be as likely to speak English as, for example, the German fans. Those guys are probably here already and if you introduced German language subforums you may fragment the existing community which wouldn't be desirable (IMO).

As a Chinese visitor, MKGenie has been invaluable over the years, with the information s/he has provided early on about upcoming projects. That particular poster happens to speak good English but could potentially encourage other Chinese visitors (assuming s/he doesn't already run their own Chinese language forum that would be harmed by MJJC's expansion in that area).

I missed this one due to the early shenanigans in this thread, we already have specific language section called 'Around The World' you can check it out here - http://www.mjjcommunity.com/forum/forums/305-Around-The-World or via the main home page of the forum.

Thanks for your dedication, Gaz

I saw the Paris thread. Will Prince have his own too?

Just checking. Does this mean that any new threads we make in News/Mania automatically go to Facebook and Twitter?

Yeah can we have a prince (mj jr) seperate thread aswell.or just one for both of the kids together would prob make it easier to navigate so not as many sub forums.

Not to keen on the m mania and news being merged.i like to go straight to see whats happening news wise. Rather than having to scroll through non news gen chat

ATM no.. the Paris one is a test to see if it will be of interest, thus I will only being using this one for now, obviously Janet get's her own permanently as she is an artist in her own right. if the PJ one takes of then I may consider adding Prince MJ, please be aware for future I will only ever be adding the MJ3, the remainder of the family now all sit in the 'Best of the Rest' section.

I am now done with all my changes - thanks again everyone for your valued feedback, like some say I can't please everyone those idea's i did not use thanks again for your input, this thread will be archived and used for further feedback should there be the need for any more.

I like the site in its present format and appreciate that Music, its in the biz has its own super forum independent of what it was in before. I am very pleased with the site otherwise as it is. I will honestly post 90% of the time in the lets talk about Michael part of it and rarely venture outside of this, except to that general area.

The only minor point I have, would be a system, where as soon as you long on, a page showing all the threads you have posted in recently shows like on two other forums I am on - prince.org and stampboards.com, as it is a bit hard to scroll through pages of replies to find yours.

Also if we could have more than 15 replies a page, prince.org has 30 and stampboards 50. We could get there by making the surround and page background more simpler as the rich format makes loading times slow for those of us not on fibre internet yet (Like me). The average page takes 20 or 30 seconds to download, whereas the simpler graphics on prince.org load immediately.

Also if we can actually show images in our replies in all threads would help, rather than having to divert people to other sites to look. Both photobucket (Less good now its all commercialised) and imgur offer these services.

Just some matters for contemplation.

Regarding posts does this page have what you need? http://www.mjjcommunity.com/forum/content/1-home you get there by clicking the home button in the top nav bar.

I'll look into the replies per page

as for the page speed, apologies but I will not be building my sites based on people's internet speed, I build based on my own creativity and that of doing Michael proud with it looking the part, I'm sure in time you will like many millions around the globe get the super speed broadband internet.

Regarding images, I'm afraid that's an end user issue which I have no control over, if members prefer to use or only know of certain image upload sites then it's something I can't influence, personally I think you will find it's more a user knowledge thing as some seem to put the images on the pages and some don't.

Lastly, guys before I archive and close this, you will be pleased to know I have now removed the 'In The Hood' section, instead I've turned 'The Trials' section back to 'Trials and Tribulations' which will now house all the cases of MJ/Estate and the more sensitive topics of discussion, you can continue to discuss in the old 'In The Hood' threads, just try to be a little more respectful, but you can of course still discuss these topics.

That's it peeps - again thanks for the feedback.

Enjoy the revamped MJJCommunity.

Very happy, spent more time on this the last few days than ever. Talk so some of these clowns more than my actual real life friends ?
