Alice Cooper treated concertgoers to a special reunion performance with his surviving original band members last night in Nashville — and thanks to the magic of fan-shot video, you can check it out right here.

As previously reported, the reunion with Michael Bruce, Dennis Dunaway and Neal Smith was scheduled as a five-song “mini-set” during Cooper’s show at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center’s Andrew Jackson Hall. “With so many musician, songwriter and producer friends here, as well as great rock fans who come to our concerts, it’s special to be performing with Neal, Michael and Dennis in Nashville for them,” he said in a statement.

“It’s fun to go back and work with guys you haven’t worked with in a while,” Cooper added in a separate interview. “It’s not trying to recapture your youth – it’s trying to recapture a sound, and it’s a very elusive sound.”

The Cooper band’s “mini-set” arrives ahead of a special “mini-album” set to be appended to Cooper’s upcoming Paranormal LP, featuring three new songs written and recorded with Bruce, Dunaway and Smith. The album’s main track listing also makes room for visits from an array of special guests, including U2’s Larry Mullen Jr., ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons and Deep Purple’s Roger Glover. Hinting that the record “might go in a lot of directions,” Cooper has also promised that longtime fans will come away thoroughly satisfied.

“I have a world of fans out there, and it took me 45 years to build that fan base,” he pointed out. “So when I make records now, I’m making them for those people. I’m not trying to break a new audience.”

I haven't listened him much but I saw him live in 2011. He performed before Iron Maiden. It was great.

Sometimes I forget Alice Cooper is a big star, he's local to me and I think he's often on these cheaper car commercials etc. and I think people forget what he's done in music around me

I just found this Alice Cooper interview snippet where he talks about what it’s like to be on the Muppet Show.

And it reminded me of how Michael interacted with the Muppet and Disney characters:

Here’s Alice on the Muppet Show in 1978. :)

The full episode doesn’t seem to be available in decent quality on YouTube, but you can find a few more clips.

They’re just soooo convincing. :D

And it’s odd that the illusion even seems to work when the puppeteer is right next to you, like in Michael’s photo with Kermit. Or the Captain EO (not a real Muppet muppet, I know) picture, where the puppeteer is literally right behind him and it still works. Look at Elizabeth’s face. :D

Alice Cooper is a great guy, by the way. I like him very much. :)

And there are even some loose connections to MJ, like Orianthi went on to tour with him, and I think one of Michael’s snakes was previously owned by Alice. Not sure if they ever met personally, though.
