Default Moonwalker screening in Glasgow, Scotland

    Howdy folks,

Most of you guys probably won't know me, but I've been a consistent member of the MJ online community for years. I posted mostly at dotmusic and then at our own 'refugee' forum when that site closed down, I've also frequented MJSTAR and MaxJax over the years.

Anyway, this really goes out to the MJ fans in Glasgow and the west of Scotland - I'm not sure if there's ANY that post on here but worth a shot I figured...

I've contacted the Glasgow Film Theatre in Glasgow City Centre regarding the showing of Moonwalker in screen 2 of the cinema - they have confirmed that the film is available and could be shown.

Basically I need to get 30 people in on it to make it worthwhile for the GFT to do. And rather than rope 30 of my friends in, I thought it better that I reach out to the MJ community and try to organise something either in Michael's memory as we approach THAT day or just as our own wee celebration for Bad 25. I know many theatres screened Moonwalker following Michael's passing, but to this day I have never been to a public screening of it - not since 1988 anyway!

I've no dates or any real confirmation as yet - the people at the GFT have said that assuming I wanted to go ahead they would have to liase with the programmer and make a decision on whether it's something they would like to include in their line-up but I'm quietly confident over that part. Over and above the 30 necessary seats, I would be able to obtain further tickets at a discounted rate, and any remaining seats would go on sale to the general public. Though I might be getting a bit ahead of myself there.

Tickets per person would be looking like 10 quid - no concessions - though I'm hoping somehow to get that number down and make it a bit more on par with normal cinema ticket prices.

If it's something you'd be interested in attending, or even indeed planning with me, get in touch in the thread here or PM me.

    Cheers,
    Chris

aww, I never saw Moonwalker in theaters and I'm not from Glasgow but I totally support this

There's nothing like experience MJ in theaters (saw TII several times), well after the real deal of course
Come on! you only need 30 people, you can do it guys

    Hi ChrisC,
that sounds like a great idea. If it's before 23rd of June I might be interested. Please update this thread if there's some news.

WOW sounds fun, but thing is i don't live in Scotland, i live in Manchester.
Moonwalker was shown on the big screen at the Odeon cinema, Printworks in
Manchester in 2009 i think it was. It was amazing to see it again on a big screen.
I took my daughter with me and she really enjoyed (but she has seen it before
on dvd) and it was a really good experience for her to see it on a big screen.
But disappointing thing was, there was only about 7 or 8 other people watching it.
