now i'm going to say something most of you will get it wrong, f... it.

today mj still has big fan-base. but in 10years its going to be half that.
people that have been from the beginning are getting older. people that lived in the time where michael was on top are getting old.
of course he is gathering new fans, but most of them are interested in his music and videos.
those of us that appreciate his live visuals would be gone.
i mean there won't be that much die hard fans.
the new fans can live without live dvds, they wont care that much cause they didnt live that time.
the opportunities will ne gone.

We also have to take into account the perception from the general public. I want this to sell as many copies as possible. As a fan I would buy Michael's shows whether they be on blu-ray or vhs. But some people from the general public might only be interested in a blu-ray release. The VHS thing will not raise eyebrows only in the fan community. If they also release the Bad tour on blu-ray and the Wembley DVD becomes a bonus of the album's 25th anniversary package for the fans, then that's fine. But the Bad tour really needs to be released properly, in good quality.

This is true. New fans will be more interested in what Michael released in his lifetime than in posthumous releases. Hear that, Estate? Release the goodies before I die!

Lom Kit's point is that the demand for Michael's live performance is probably greater now than what it'll be 10 years later. It is because we are Michael's contemporary. We were alive when Michael was alive. We witnessed what he was like as a live performer, not through some nostagic TV program, but real time. We witnessed the excitement, so we want to re-live again. Bad Tour DVD allows us to re-live the memory.

Fast forward to a generation later, to the young generation, Michael will not be their contemporary. He becomes an icon. They will be more interested in getting Michael's greatest-of CD's and the videos. For live performance, they'll watch their generation's artists. Just like how young girls today watch Justin Bieber and Chris Brown. They are what "live performers" to them. Of course, the next generation will be interested in Michael's live performance, but the interest will be greater on the albums and the music videos.

Why is this point relevant? Sony or whatever company the Estate will work with are for-profit companies. They don't exist to please fans. They exist to make money. When they plan a release, they need to see if there is a demand for it. With each passing year, Michael's hard core fan base will age. Michael will gain new fans. But, the products that the new generation wants will be different than what we want.

Bottomline is that this may probably be our best shot to get a good Bad Tour DVD.
