Hits Daily Double:

DOUBLE-DIP SUPER TUESDAY UPDATE: Here are the latest label forecasts on some of the Sept. 18 and Sept. 25 releases (see 8/23 item below): G.O.O.D. Music compilation 200k, Pink 200k, The Killers 125k, Carly Rae Jepsen 100k, No Doubt 175k and Michael Jackson 150k. In other news, Diana Krall and the Barbra Streisand CD move to Oct. 2 (Columbia is releasing the LP on Sept. 25 to make it eligible for Grammy consideration), while Ne-Yo moves to Nov. 6. Expect some of the forecasts to change as we get closer to release. You can also expect some label estimates to be over-projected and/or very bullish, which could lead to some major disappointments for certain key artists and top label execs, but par for the course heading into Q4. (8/24a)

I want Bad 25 to smash the charts and all the pathetic artists of today. Let's all do our bit now!

Am I right to say that if I buy BAD 25 from iTunes, it show in their charts, but I bought it from HMV so it doesn't show in iTunes charts?

I cannot see many people buying for example Deluxe from iTunes, as you wouldn't get your poster, 2 booklets and photo, just the songs. I believe most people buy from Amazon and other places, so iTunes chart is not one to watch, or am I totally wrong with my assumption?

I checked Amazon UK, Deluxe is doing great there, considering that it is almost 10 euro more expensive than other music on the list.
That is cool in my opinion, Go Michael:clapping:

Amazon Bestsellers Rank: 15 in Music (See Top 100 in Music)
#1 in Music > R&B and Soul
#1 in Music > Box Sets
#1 in Music > Miscellaneous

and it is doing great in US too even it is not even released yet
Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #19 in Music (See Top 100 in Music)
#2 in Music > R&B
#18 in Music > Pop

Yes I also tink it`s not a i-tunes-album.

Music:
Amazon Italy: 3
Amazon France: 4
Amazon Germany: 19

I think it will have a good debut (No Number 1) and will sell well over the time and the later Spike Lee-docu in television will be a good advertising.

Pink will be in most countries Number 1.

... and can somebody explain if we buy a boxset it wil be counted as ONE or 4 pieces - 3cd and 1dvd, or it would be better to buy separately CDs and the dvd for charts numbers in terms of the number of sold pieces?

That sounds like a reasonable assumption to me. You're correct about the iTunes chart, that chart shows only music bought from the iTunes store. I agree that most fans will probably buy a physical copy and not just download it from iTunes, so I wouldn't be too worried if it doesn't do great on the iTunes chart.

Muse 200k
Kanye West/G.O.O.D. 150k
Wiz Khalifa 150k
Michael Jackson Bad 25 140k
The Killers 125k
Ne-Yo 75
Carly Rae Jespen 75k
Easton Corbin 50k
Band of Horses 39k
Paul Simon 25k

The previous one (2 weeks ago):

Mumford & Sons (Glassnote) 400k
Wiz Khalifa (Atlantic) 250k
P!nk (RCA) 200k
G.O.O.D. Music Compilation (Def Jam/IDJ) 200k
No Doubt (Interscope) 175k
Michael Jackson, Bad – 25th Anniversary Edition (Legacy) 150k

Lupe Fiasco (Atlantic) 150k
The Killers (Island/ID J) 125k
Carly Rae Jepsen (Schoolboy/Interscope) 100k
Nelly Furtado (Geffen) 25k

The prediction still looks good. We always knew Bad25 wouldn't make it to #1 in the US, so it's nice to see that a top5 placing is still possible. Pink's number seems a bit high to me and Kanye's a little low, but I'm sure the HDD people know these things better than I do. Let's just hope the Killers don't sell more than Michael, so Bad25 makes it to the top 5.

More than Nr 1 (which was never a realistic expectation IMO) I'd like this boxset have longevity on the charts. I'd like more and more people discover and buy it.

It would be fair not to have no.1, but many weeks on top10 chart, and sell more than the others, though Thriller25 had very strong first week sales, I am not sure, but it would have been no.1 if... the rules had allowed it.

anyway..., how relevant or accurate such predictions are...?

It would have been nice if Spike's documentary was showing on telly now when CD's and DVD's are out. It would have given big boost to album and concert DVD sales.

I agree, a primetime TV show to promote BAD, with the performance of MITM from Wembley and a TV ad for the album would have been perfect. I have no idea why they haven't set it up like that. It's going to be shown toward the end of October in Germany, November in the USA, and "before Xmas" in the UK (according to an unconfirmed rumour). All those will be too late to help sales of BAD25, which will have already dropped from the charts and out of buyers' thoughts IMO. They needed the show to be on TV this week or last week.

Question - are we running a sprint or a marathon for this?

The marketing strategy suggests a marathon, which I am quite happy with. There must be a reason or reasons for the decisions taken. Let us have a bit more faith in the people responsible for this.

Is has dropped to 11! I wonder if the prize increase has something to do with it.
I would've paid £50 for that Deluxe set, but I don't think casual listener will bother paying £30! At least the prize will drive aways some of the buyers:-(

Who decides those prizes in Amazon stuff? Are they allowed to sell something for £20 this week, and next week the same item is £30?

Anyway, it is good that it still holding on top, even being 2 times more expensive than other albums on charts.
