that short and sweet chorus? how is it non melodic? the term 'just good friends' is so overused, it could have been a melody, even without music.

and, by the way, i said i don't always look at lyrics first, so could somebody give me their interpretation of 'Speed Demon'? i really always thought it was about the love of being a rebel.

I absolutely love Just Good Friends....I could never exclude it from the album simply because MJ and Stevie TOGETHER are vocal acrobats. Seriously.

Wasn't Speed Demon about when Michael was pulled over by a white cop? 'Pull over, boy, and get yo ticket right'. ..'You're preachin' 'bout my life like you're the law....'....

Right. Excluding this song would have guaranteed 3 million more copies.
Leaving this song on the album dissuaded 3 million people from purchasing this album.
Never mind that it wasn't even a single to begin with.
Absolutely, replacing it with one of those songs would have most definitely scored another 3 million in sales for this album.
    Totally.

    preaching about his life..
i've heard people of his own race(and mine) preach about his life..particularly about 'jumping ship', that that never entered my mind in this song. Michael makes me forget about race.

i think 'loss of count' is appropriate in Bad sales. Count ceased to be an issue a long time ago.

I'm just guessing, really...I find his lyrics have multiple meanings, and are very layered. One thing is that they're always, always personal.

yep..i agree. certainly personal. me too, on the guessing part.. i have heard the report about the officer, but Michael's absolute positivity in life tends to make me forget the people(who made him suffer), on a basis of them having any identity...but forgetting that, makes me feel sorta guilty, because i want to remember that, indeed, they made him suffer.

I wouldn't put none of demos on place of any in the disc, the album is perfect but if I could change something would be the change of "Just Good Friends" to "Streetwalker", remembering that Michael wanted to put "Streetwalker" in tracklist but Quincy Jones prefered instead "Another Part Of Me".

LOL, am I the only one who likes Just Good Friends? I always liked it. I never realized until now that so many people/fans dislike it. It's not Michael's best song ever, but it's a fun song. It could have been replaced by one of the non-released songs and we would not miss it much, alright, but I don't mind it being there either. Had it been replaced, I'd want Cheater to replace it. I love that song.

Do NOT touch APOM, ever! To me that's one of the highlights of the album. There's something magical about that song - it just makes people happy.

    5. Al Capone
    6. Another Part Of Me
    7. Man In The Mirror
    8. IJCSLY
    9. Dirty Diana
    10. Smooth Criminal

I don't know but to me Speed Demon seems to flow better with the rest of the album than Abortion Papers would. I'm joinging the defenders of Speed Demon. I like it, it's a good song. I'd miss it.

Just Good Friends is probably the song I'd miss the least (even though I like it too, like stated above), but it would not be Al Capone with that I'd replace it if I had to. Too similar to SC. I know you mentioned that Invincible and Unbreakable are similar too and that is true, but in Bad era we have so many great songs in the vault, there's no need for two so similar songs on an album.

Additionally I would perhaps not miss IJCSLY that much. I'm So Blue would be a good replacement for that.

Bad was Michael's vision. That's a sacred thing that cannot be tampered with IMO.

And all that really needs to be understood about Speed Demon is that it's one of the funkiest things on this planet. If you haven't got the funk in you, then maybe you wont understand.

If it's good enough for Elvis, it's good enough for Michael.

Yeah, but Michael loved the song, APOM, too, or else he wouldn't have performed it in concert. So I'm sure MJ, the final overseer approved of the song.

NEVER! Michael and quincy did some great choises on which songs to include and which to exclude. none of the bad 25th tracks are either strong enough or would fit the album - they are great as bonus material now just as streetwalker, fly away and to do mi amore eres tu was at the special edition in 2001. No changing the album, but THANK YOU for letting us hear them later!

BAD seriosuly needed Price of Fame. Thriller had Billie Jean, Dangeorous had Who Is It. BAD needed Price of Fame IMO It would def. be one of my all time fav. MJ songs if he had finished it.
