UK 'Top of the Pops' photo exhibition, Harry Goodwin 1964-73 ( including Michael)

There is a free-entry exhibition at Salford University of 'Top of the Pops' star portrait photos taken by their resident photographer Harry Goodwin, between 1964 and 1973.
There is at least one photo of young Michael...not sure how many more, or if J5 are included.


Launch: 'When Harry Met...'Thursday 18 October, 6.00 - 9.00pm (official opening at 7.00pm)
An opportunity to see a one-off screening of images by photographer Harry Goodwin, to meet Harry in person and to view a documentary interview with Harry made by University of Salford student Lydia Sharkey. Harry Goodwin was the resident photographer for the BBC's Top of the Pops studios in London and Manchester between 1963 and 1973. During this time, he photographed practically every single act that entered the Top 30 of the UK Singles Chart.

This event will celebrate a donation to the University of a digital archive of Harry Goodwin’s work and 60 signed prints for the permanent collection.

'When Harry Met...' Photographs by Harry Goodwin

Harry Goodwin was the resident photographer for the BBC's Top of the Pops studios in London and Manchester between 1963 and 1973. During this time, he photographed practically every single act that entered the Top 30 of the UK Singles Chart. Due to the lengths he went to get a shot of an absent act, he became known for his tenacity in gaining photo opportunities against all odds.

This exhibition of Harry Goodwin’s photographs includes Debbie Harry in concert at the University of Salford’s Maxwell Hall plus other icons from the ‘60s and ‘70s from Michael Jackson and Jimi Hendrix to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

Open: Monday to Friday 10.00am – 5.00pm and Saturday and Sunday 12.00 – 4.00pm (closed from Friday 21st December; reopens Wednesday 2nd January)
