I'm thinking of making it out of nylon strapping (lighter weight) and starting it so it has the stiffness of leather. The studs I can get at any craft store. Instead of belt buckles I was thinking of using metal parachute buckles to make it easier to put on and remove when I'm in costume.
I have a full out costume of this character (though I only have the head on in this picture. I'm going to make myself a Thriller jacket and the tour belts to wear when I do Thrill the World. Plus it doubles as a Halloween costume XD.
