Hello MJJC family,
Just over one year ago, MJJC announced that it would be officially supporting Starlight Children’s Foundation in honor of Michael’s spirit and legacy. We’ve started a fundraising page and raised over $1,000.00 to help sick children. We’ve shared stories about what Starlight has accomplished to help seriously ill children and their families on various social media sites and through conversations within our individual lives. We have been able to see people from all over the world meet and connect through their love and respect for Michael and his spirit. Beyond that, Michael has inspired many to make that change and heal the world through projects they’ve initiated on their own or with other people. Various humanitarian initiatives have been launched; all inspired by or in honor of Michael. The work continues on in many ways.
We are now ready to embark on another project to help the children. MJJC is now launching a new fundraising initiative to help children who are faced with being in the hospital, whether it be unexpectedly or not. When the children have to be in the hospital, it is a very difficult time for them. It’s important that the children feel as comfortable as they can since their stay could be extended due to their illness. Therefore, the initiative will focus on raising funds to purchase comfort kits to be made available for purchase by various hospitals who are participating in the program.
What are comfort kits?
When kids and families rush to the hospital, they grab only the basic necessities. Usually left at home are all of the little things that make childhood fun, such as books, toys and games. Add the stress of injury or chronic illness, and a trip to the emergency room or a long hospital stay can be incredibly stressful for kids and families.
Starlight Comfort Kits are durable high-quality backpacks filled with gifts and games that distract and engage young patients, improving the point-of-care experience for children. Parents and siblings can play along, or just appreciate the peace of mind that comes from knowing their child, brother or sister is entertained by the activities that he or she enjoys doing at home.

Michael believed that children are the future and that they need be nurtured, loved and protected. MJJC wants to honor Michael’s wish and help children heal and be happy. Raising funds to purchase the comfort kits for the hospitals can help MJJC achieve that goal.
