I think it's long passed the 30 million mark. But it's up to the record label to ask for an update in the certification.

There is no article. It's from this chart geek's forum where they make all kind of calculations etc: http://www.ukmix.org/forums/viewtopi...3110&p=5508681

    Hence: "Thanks Pierpinto"

There is an Official Charts Company in UK (http://www.officialcharts.com/home/)
so I thought that came from them, which would have made that list "Official", but as that list comes from Pierpinto, it is not "official" in a sense, and I don't think it is ok to use Official Charts Company in the headline:-( It is kind of misleading, but ok, I know now it is from Pierpinto's own "official" chart.

I guess it just means he took the data from the official charts. He explained his calculation method:

Calculated by the amount of weeks on the chart for both Singles and Albums combined. One point is gained for each week an album/or single appears in the Top 75:

Are these numbers official?? - And if so, why are Thriller and BAD not certified better?

ALSO - if Thriller had already sold 67 million copies in 1990. - then it seems realistic that Thriller has now sold (25 years later!) around 100 million copies. - In 1990 many propably still had Thriller on MC (tape) or LP - they have maybe bought a CD version later, and maybe also 2001 special edition and T25.
https://www.youtube.com/user/Ahess/videos - me dancing MJ - many years ago.

I would be really glad if you rated or/and commented the videos. Thanks

^ These are global numbers which are never "official" the same way as RIAA certifications are considered "official". There is no official certification for global sales, they are simply counted together from single national sales numbers.

And these are not the sales for 1990, these are the sales for now.

Those numbers are not number of copies sold in the 80s, but total number of copies sold of albums released in the 80s.

Nothing new. This is their list from February 2013:

    http://www.mediatraffic.de/alltime-album-chart.htm

    Thriller 66 MIL
    Bad 32 MIL
    Dangerous 30 MIL
    Off The Wall 20 MIL
    HIStory 20 MIL

So is that officially Dangerous is only 2 million behind Bad?

Amazing that he has 5 out of 6 adult studio albums in that list. A stunning achievement.

Like respect77 said there are no official numbers for global sales because there is no official organisation that counts global sales, but it is the only reliable source for global sales and it is considered pretty accurate. So it's not official official, but it is as close as it can be.

Yeah, MJ has 5/6 studio albums on Albums All Time Chart and 3 albums in Albums Decade Chart

    http://www.mediatraffic.de/2000-2009-album-chart.htm

    40. Michael Jackson - Thriller (including 25th Anniversary Reissue) - 10 million copies
    53. Michael Jackson - Number Ones - 9 million copies
    97. Michael Jackson - Invincible - 7 million copies

Wow, I thought Invincible had surpassed 10 million in its first year?

The drop from 20m to 7 is staggering. But I guess US sales count for most of that.

Number 97 in the decade sounds way too low.

Yeah, but like I said, they are reliable, but not 100%. I think Invincible sold more (around 13 MIL). Thriller should be around 70 MIL by now. Off The Wall and HIStory stand on 20 MIL since I have internet! Same for Dangerous - 30 MIL. Joe Vogel wrote that Bad sold 35 MIL in 2012 and he had direct contact with Estate. So all these numbers should be taken with a grain of salt. They are just best possible approximations and not official numbers.
