Hey everybody!
Ghost is one of my favorite songs ever and I have been struggling over the years with all these different lyrics versions out there. There are some parts in the text that are transcribed differently in several versions, for example:
1) There's a ghostly smell around
But nobody to be found
And a coughin' and a yawnin'
Where a restless soul is going
Other lyrics say "a coffin nearly open" or "a coffin inlay open" and "where a restless soul is floating" or "Where a restless soul is pokin'"
2) And who gave you the right to shake my family tree?
Other lyrics say "fablic tree" although I don't know if fablic is even a word.
3) And who gave you the right to shake my baby, she needs me
Others say "to shame my baby"
And I was also wondering about the background vocals before the chorus. So far I found these:
Got a ghost, Got a break in the walls
Got a ghoul, Got a break in the halls
Got a ghost
Got a break in the walls
Got a ghoul
Got a break in the halls
Got to see it
Want to
Is that right? Who knows the exact lyrics and what the right version is?
Thank you all! Greets from Oxford, MS.
