Noel Lee, the founder of electronics company Monster, is accustomed to bringing big name music to the Consumer Electronics Show (about CES here ). This year, he wants to bring some big concepts, too.

The concert event Heal the World: A Tribute to Michael Jackson, scheduled for Jan. 7 at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino's Axis Theater, will have a big-name roster of music stars performing the music of the late King of Pop. Jackson's single Heal the World from his 1991 album Dangerous serves as the touchstone.

Because of concerns about the environment and "all the violence and terrorism in the world," Lee said that he wanted to put on an especially uplifting event at this year's CES.

"I want to highlight a social consciousness of solutions that the consumer electronics field can think about," he said. "For instance, if you can have a fingerprint reader on a iPhone, why can’t you have one on a gun? My goal is to stir up innovation around affecting the world."

Another report:

Monster will roll out the red carpet for the Jackson family for its annual concert and awards program at CES 2016 in January.

“Heal the World, A Tribute to Michael Jackson” will be held at Planet Hollywood in the Axis Theater Powered by Monster on Thursday, Jan. 7, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature “some of the biggest talents in music today, including several of the Jacksons themselves,” said Monster in a statement.

Specific names will be released Jan. 1. Performers will be backed by a 30-piece orchestra arranged and conducted by Vassal Benford.

Those interested in attending should email monsterpress@trujillopr.com by Dec. 31.

Said Monster founder Noel Lee: “Our CES concert series has always been about sharing Monster’s heart and soul, our love for great music and for an authentic live music experience. Over the years, it’s been our great honor and privilege to present so many iconic artists to CES attendees. This year’s tribute to Michael Jackson is truly fitting. His song ‘Heal the World’ truly speaks to the needs of today’s times and Monster feels that it’s part of our obligation as corporate citizens to bring social consciousness to CES to help fight terror, violence, and to clean up the environment for future generations.”

I think it's a very cool idea; it's always great when music and all other kinds of industries come together for the greater good.

I am hoping to see video of this at some point in time...

A friend of mine is attending. I've asked her to let me know how it was -- so bummed CES is invite only.

I understand the show had some technical difficulties early on and I didn't get to catch up with Ne-Yo and Joe Perry, but I tuned in just in time for the bros to hit the stage and rock. I thought they were terrific, really loved their performance  It's really nice to see them performing together. Very cool as well to see Magic play host.

I also loved very much the video montage done for Heal the world. Mr Lee was quite right when he said that back in 1991 when Michael wrote the song he had no idea how important it would be now. It was sad in a way to see the lyrics matched up to current events, but it goes to show just how relevant the song remains to this day. The occasional pessimist in me believes that will be the case for a long time from now.

And btw of Noel Lee's little speech at the end - ain't nothin' wrong with making money while healing the world and protecting people's rights. After all, this is how jobs are created. I was goin' to go on a tangent about the benefits of moral capitalism, but then I realized that it would be too much O/T :p

The thread was after all about a musical event because indeed.......music matters and it is a great way of bringing people together in harmony.

Thank you for this feedback :) I wonder if the montage will find its way on to YouTube- I hope so. Also maybe at least the Jacksons part of the concert? It would be great if the whole concert was uploaded there. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Sounds like a really heartfelt and meaningful tribute to MJ by Mr Lee.

edit: Found a bit of the concert here....

And here is a short clip of Noel Lee talking about why he wanted a 'Heal the World' concert at the 2016 show (around 4.30):

^^^Myosotis, you missed the "tuned in" part in my post  I was watching it online, but I guess you could say I was there in spirit :p It's always nice to see a performance on the other side of the world in real time.

Oops sorry, I thought maybe they were streaming across different exhibition locations at CES and you 'tuned in' to that.... :) But thank you for the YT link. I'll keep a look out for more in the next few days; maybe Mr Lee will upload the whole concert after the end of CES.

Haha!! Great seeing the little kid jumping on the stage and dancing along.
Who says the Jacksons are old fogeys and not relevant?

Wish Randy would get his act together and rejoin them.

Well, to play devils advocate, it's quite feasible that they doubted anyone would want to see them without Michael.
Randy, Marlon and of course, Jermaine, all had pretty worthy solo work in the late 80s, but the public didn't have an appetite for anyone but Michael.
I do wish someone would just sit Randy down and talk some sense into him. He needs to realize that it's over and get back on board.

All of the brothers reunited before Michael's passing.

^^Obviously. But wasn't the discussion about them going on the road without Michael and why didn't they do it before 2009?

Why would they tour as the Jacksons without their brother/lead singer when their brother/lead singer was alive?

Well, if Michael didn't want to do it, why not strike out on their own? The Unity tour proves that they are still terrific in their own right.

It was a group. It took quite a bit of grief management among other issues for the Unity tour to happen and I commend them for it.

Yes. Lots of groups lose a member or even the lead singer and go on. I was a fan of both The Jacksons and Michael Jackson. I attended the Unity Tour and was sitting there thinking, why didn't they do this decades ago? MJ made it clear he wasn't interested so they needed to move on.
