Trailer

As someone who never saw the original 1977 version with LeVar Burton that came out 39 years ago, this one is really good and powerful.

I saw the original Roots when I was a teenager (along with another billion people) and it was a major event in the history. I watched it again about 3 years ago and it was as powerful and emotional as ever. I didn't see a need for a remake.

But I read an article by the pruducer who showed it to his kids and they said it was dated, especially the makeup. Thinking about that, it's true. The old age makeup they use on Leslie Uggums and Ben Vereen, etc. aren't good. So I decided to watch this one, because the quality looks excellent. But my cable went out five minutes before it started. Wierd how that happens.
Hopefully they will repeat it next weekend.

I just recently saw it last night on A&E. I think that was pretty good. Fiddler helping out Kunta was pretty powerful.

It was good, but the original was better. Don't get me wrong its a story that needs retelling. But the original stayed with me. I felt the same way about Sparkle.
