Last week the born Kaufbeurer died in his hometown of the consequences of a serious illness at the age of 63 years. In the USA, Wölfl had made a name for himself, especially through his work as a starfotographer of the music and film scene....

After a while, he became the first photographer to become a photo agency. Through his first engagement with an agency Wölfl then landed at the record companies, for which he then designed covers of music sizes. Later came the photos of film stars in well-known print media of the USA. His first shooting took place in 1996 with Stevie Wonder, with whom he had belonged to the family. He worked for him on tours or privately, for Janet Jackson 18 years, whose brother Michael came later...

Never heard of him

It is with great sadness that we’ve learned of the passing of photographer & friend Eddie Wolfl who worked with Michael in the Bad & History eras, most notably capturing Michael and Janet on the set of Scream.

Eddie was an incredibly honest, funny guy who had a great energy and passion for his work. Aside from Michael, Eddie got to capture the greats including Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Rod Stewart, Diana Ross, Sting, Janet Jackson and Beyoncé.

In 2014, Eddie interviewed for Iconic Magazine’s Scream issue and gave permission for us to use his entire Michael Jackson Scream work along side his frank and bold recollection of his time with the King of Pop. In 2015, Eddie agreed for his Scream photography to go on display at Kingvention in London and surprised everyone by flying in on the day of the event where he took to the stage and spoke fondly of Michael. He then spent his time talking with all the fans offering words of inspiration to those looking to make it in the photography and dance fields and kept everybody smiling through out the day.

Our thoughts are with Eddie’s family and we’re so blessed to be given the chance to work with such a wonderful, talented, gracious man. (Source MJVibe)
