To be honest, it's hard to see past hypocrisy in this press release. the kind Damien highlighted yesterday in his article on the subject https://goo.gl/kpV63b But that's me, I'm biased.

Past mistakes aside, I wish they partnered with someone else - someone who would be able to bring Michael's artistry into the spotlight more, rather than marketing him as a pop brand. I feel like Sony doesn't really get it, nor do they feel the need to. It's all about commerce for them. But then, there is no guarantee that another label would see things differently.

The only other company the Estate could really go to us Universal Music Group. Considering how tied Sony and the Estate have been since the 90's, I can see why they stick with them. I would like to see what another company like Universal could do with MICHAEL JACKSON.. Especially since it would be new to them, they would LOVE to show that they have it. Sony I think overall takes it for granted. Bad blood or not! You have something for decades, you stop seeing the value naturally - especially without "new" materiel or an artist here to promote.

I hope good things come of this though!

Yeah. You do wonder if everyone is just going through the motions as its the easy option. Considering what things were like pre 09

More ways to re-hash all the old stuff and call it innovative and 'reaching new fans'. Can't wait.

I agree with your post 1000%. I also thought that Universal would be the next step. Sony takes Michael too much for granted. He deserves better.

I don't disagree, but it starts with the Estate. If they don't see and present Michael as more than a cash cow, why would the label?

Why do people continually put the blame on Sony for the last seven years of projects? The Estate creates the projects; Sony markets and sells them. I recall hearing that Sony actually didn't want remixes on Bad 25, but the Estate insisted on it.

This just seems to be carryover from Michael's issues with Tommy Mottola.

Have mixed feelings about this....... let's hope they redeem themselves and release new footage of Michael in good quality, either concerts or 'new' songs.

If true then I wouldn't be too surprised. Why would Sony want to market a shitty product?

That’s correct. Bad 25 was to include so much more then what we received. The estate didn’t approve what was presented/proposed to them.

Where did you hear this and do we have any idea what was presented/proposed that didn't make it?

I heard the same from a fan who has worked with the european branch of Sony on projects like King of Pop. Sony wanted to include the album, all of the dance mixes, several unreleased songs and demos, but the estate declined on the mixes and demos, opting for the new remixes instead
