Default Are there songs where Michael sang flat?

Iíve always wondered about this since Iím not the best judge when it comes to the technical aspects of music, are there songs where he sings flat, out of key, that is very apparent?

Um....the songs you hear on an album are the finished product which means that even if Michael's singing would have been off key or flat, it surely wouldn't be in a song on a published album. So, my answer would be no.

I am here, 'cause you were there.

Well first of all iím not only talking about released songs and secondly if you listen to the acapella of black or white youíll hear a very obvious flat note in one verse but as many of us know know the verses for black or white was the first and only take and bill botrell championed to keep that take because it was raw and authentic even though Michael wanted to do several takes.

The answer is yes, of course every singer at times goes flat and messes up..

For Mike more specifically as his voice depended and he tried singing in specific notes he used to it would not come.out the same and his voice would crack..

But of course we all know his voice and vocal control was amazing.

He did do alot to make.sure of.it, from while recording keeping it super warm, having humidifiers, and of course warming up his voice much more than the average singer.

feel like some vocals of the demo of She Was Loving Me/Chicago are a bit out of key

I'm not sure but this was said in other thread:

Brad Sundberg who does the "In The Studio with Michael Jackson" Seminars talked also about Keep The Faith.

    I read in an article:

Michael loved “Keep The Faith” and always intended to include it in the new album. Michael and the team worked very hard, long hours on preparing the track, the music, everything. However, when belting out the final vocal, something happened that threw the entire song out of whack; Michael’s voice cracked

Michael was really taken aback and got upset about it. Because his voice was cracking, the pitch of the song would need to be dropped in order for Michael to deliver the vocals the way he wanted to.

Everyone was supportive, and they started over.

The final version that we all know and love from the “Dangerous” album, Brad recalled, is Michael delivering the track as if to say “I’m sorry” and “Thank you.” He said you can hear it in his voice.

I don't now about flat but I always thought the vocals on One More Chance were a touch weak, but I still enjoy the song. Plus his delivery adds to the track overall

I've always loved the raw take for OMC, sometimes I can hear some J5 melodies in that performance.. When it dropped I couldnt help but notice how fresh it sounded compared to the overproduction of Invincible, There was a feeling going on the fanbase that his comeback would finally land. I think MJ was so over w/ Sony and the media circus of Bashir et al, by that point he just focused on fullfiling and ending his contract and moving on; thus the realease of a somewhat simple outtake

I have to admit thatI have a hard time listening to OMC because of how processed his vocals sounds. It sounds really unnatural on certain parts And the quality sounds a bit sketchy like it wasnít recorded in a top quality studio. Compare OMC to any other track from Invincible and the quality in sound is astounding. Other than that I really like the melody and the vocal delivery is flawless.

Does anyone know where he recorded his vocals for this song?

One More Chance was recorded in 2003. Michael Prince confirmed it. I also always thought that it is an Invincible outtake, but it is not. R. Kelly just sent a very rough demo to Michael, Michael Prince and Brad Buxer and those three recorded, arranged and produced the song.

Totally agree. Even when I listen to it now 15 years it sounds fresh. I wasn't really old enough to be part of the fanbase but I remember waiting for ages outside the music shop to buy number ones for my mum after they sold out twice in a week. I also remember One More Chance being everywhere for like 3 weeks

Really, you think so? How Come? Nobody should get offended by someone simply stating their opinion.
