SOHH Soulful: Usher Plans To Drop New Disc In Early '08, Michael Jackson Collabo In The Works

R&B superstar Usher Raymond recently spoke up about his new role as a husband and father as well as his next album, which may feature a special guest appearance from the "King of Pop" himself, Michael Jackson.
In a recent interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Usher revealed his plans to release a new album by Spring of 2008.
"I've been diligently working on creating a masterpiece," the singer said. "It's going to be out first or maybe the second quarter. And there will be a video and single out at the top of the year."
So far Usher is planning to drop "Love In The Club," which was produced by Polow Da Don, as the album's lead single. Fans may also be treated to a collaboration between Usher, Michael Jackson and T-Pain - however the details are still being worked out.
"It's been created, but it's not recorded," Usher admitted. "As long as Michael is open to it, hey, anything goes!"
A newlywed father, Page Six reports previously blamed album delays on Usher's new wife, Tameka Foster-Raymond. The couple tied the knot this August and welcomed the birth of their first child together, son Usher Raymond V, in November.
"I'm really like super dad," Raymond told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I really cook for the family. ... Now I basically do chicken and broccoli and steamed vegetables, because I'm on this diet. But believe me, I can fry some chicken too . . . I really clean up. I walk the dog, myself. I burp the baby. I change the diapers. I'm super dad. And it's only begun!"
Usher and his wife have yet to publicly release any photos of the child, however his new role as a father has also encouraged a budding photography hobby.
"I've become an instant photographer," Usher said. "Developing them and everything."
An official release date for Usher's upcoming as-yet-untitled project has not been released.

Pea off, Michael Jackson tells McCartney

WHAT started as a lyrical argument over a girl has become a literal fight, with Michael Jackson snubbing Sir Paul McCartney over a song they recorded together.
Jacko has delivered the ultimate insult to his former friend Sir Paul McCartney - by erasing his vocals from their 1982 hit duet The Girl Is Mine, UK's the Daily Mail reports.

The controversial star has remixed his classic album Thriller to mark the 25th anniversary of its release, set for release in February.

Instead of McCartney, Jackson's opposing lyrics will be sung by The Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.I.Am
The track, from Thiller, is a song about McCartney and Jackson arguing over a girl.

On release, the song hit number two in the US charts.

A year later, the pair teamed up again for the duet Say Say Say, which appeared on McCartney's Pipes of Peace album.
But on the latest version, the former Beatle's singing has been removed from The Girl Is Mine 2008.

Jackson and McCartney famously fell out in 1985 when the Black or White pop star bought the Associated Television Corporation (ATV)'s back catalogue, which included the publishing rights to The Beatles' songs.

Jackson paid a reported $47.5million for between 160 and 260 Beatles classics, including Yesterday and Let It Be.

Other stars who have contributed to the remixed Thriller 25 album include Kanye West, Akon and Will.I.Am's bandmate Fergie.

'Thriller' proved Jackson was King of Pop

You're going to be hearing a lot about Michael Jackson in the coming months, and for the best possible reasons. Instead of court appearances and accusations of the very worst behavior, the man who once proclaimed himself the King of Pop will be feted and celebrated for his greatest success, Thriller.

It's difficult remembering today what a large shadow the album, which turns 25 in 2008, cast across the musical landscape. A compelling document assembled by a man driven to bridge the gap between R&B and pop and rock, Thriller might have been the last album every household owned, listened to and commented on.
I did not own a copy until much later (it was far too popular to be embraced by the practicing iconoclast that was my 15-year-old self), but I remember it as one of the first records I felt driven to listen to critically.
There was so much going on, so many new sounds and interesting ideas and this prevailing sense of showmanship, that I couldn't help asking questions as Billie Jean unwrapped its funky morality tale or Thriller turned a B-movie organ track into something so infectiously danceable.
I didn't quite understand what was going on, nor did I recognize it as anything that would remain significant for years to come. All I knew was that Thriller was different and daring and that, with a copy in my sister's record collection, I would be hearing a lot of it.
Today, having lived with both Thriller and its aftermath for a full quarter-century, I can better understand the what and why and how of this razor-sharp masterpiece, but I also mourn it as well. Not only do I believe Mr. Jackson's personal problems will forever eclipse his achievement on this one nearly perfect record, I also believe it's a moment he will never replicate.
There are plans to release Thriller with contemporary remixes of the classic pop tunes. On this one, I'm of the leave-well-enough-alone camp. I understand that Mr. Jackson and the record company that wonders why he was never able to shift Thriller numbers again are anxious to cash in on his most successful product, but I believe this record is one of pop's great works and to modify and mess with its innovative tracks is the musical equivalent of drawing a moustache on the Mona Lisa.
Leave it alone, and let us remember that moment, before the controversy and odd behavior, when Michael Jackson truly was the King of Pop.

Applause dancers help bust record in 'Thrill the World' event

Olivia Pace's jaw dropped at the thought that children, her own age 25 years ago, sat glued to their televisions awaiting the world premier of Michael Jackson's landmark "Thriller" video on MTV.

"It must have been a really big deal," said Pace, 12 one of nearly 2,000 people around the globe who participated in a record setting dance on Saturday, Oct. 27, to Jackson's biggest hit ever. "I never even knew who Michael Jackson was until my grandpa, who's really into different types of music, told me about him one day."

To Pace and the rest of her classmates at Mill Creek's Applause Studio, Jackson is a golden oldie much like the Beach Boys and Elvis rank with those who remember celebrating the release of "Thriller" in 1982.

"My grandpa and I were watching TV, and they were talking about this video," Pace explained. "I asked my grandpa, 'What's that? I really like it.' And, that's when he told me all about 'Thriller' and Michael Jackson."

Barefoot Manner set for show before break

How much will Barefoot Manner experiment on New Year's Eve? "It all depends what is on our mind or what we're listening to then. We did James Brown's 'Get on the Good Foot' last year. We did Michael Jackson songs for our Halloween show. Maybe we'll hear some Hall & Oates this year and we'll react to that. Who knows? That's part of the fun of it. We love the holiday shows, especially New Years."

DVD Patrol: Third time no charm for 'Rush Hour 3'

you’ve seen either of the two previous “Rush Hours,” you know what to expect from “Rush Hour 3.” Yep, second verse, same as the first.
“Rush Hour” fans might feel all warm and snuggly from all the familiarity – even a reappearance by characters from previous films, the return of “Beach Boys” songs, and Chris Tucker doing his best Michael Jackson impression.

You talk about dedication," said Rogers, now the quarterbacks coach for the Minnesota Vikings. "He looked like Michael Jackson in there doing his cards with one glove on."

Mullen got his first chance to emulate Rogers when he coached a skeptical Harris at Bowling Green in 2001.

STRONGER," Kanye West

A very cool, futuristic video with the unlikely combo of two French robots and Kanye. The special effects very reminiscent of Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson. A lot of people aren't using as many special effects as Kanye.
