some of those are quite interesting and i haven't heard such styles before.

i've never delved into Western flautists but listen to a lot of Andalucian and classical Middle-Eastern music with some awesome folk flute playing alongside fiddle and stringed-gear.

love me some woodwind in any genre i listen to

Brick was a funk/R&B group from the 1970s that used the flute a lot in their songs.
 
Hubert Laws had a flute solo on a Stevie Wonder track... it's pretty good. My favorite parts are the bass opening by Nathan Watts and then the flute solo by Hubert Laws. (If imeem isn't a bastard and allows this song to stream in full), it starts at 3:58
