At around one, Emily came HOME…
Mum jumped from the sofa,
She was watching some goofy
midday talk show…
“How was your first day, Hun? “
“Great” Emily beamed.
“Have I told you how proud I am of you?
I can ask dad to give you back some ‘privilege’?
What do you miss? “
“Nothing” she babbled and
Slapped her hand in front of her mouth.
Something definitely was wrong with her…
“Emily? Sure, you’re okay? “
“I think so…
I don’t know what’s wrong with me? “
She plunged down on the sofa
Defeated…
Mum plunged next to her…
“You can tell me, sweetie”
“It’s weird… Ever since that strange dream,
I’m NOT Emily any more…
I mean I’m nice and happy…
I was miserable and rude before…
Even at the library,
I’m considered ‘different’”
She sighed.
“How ‘you mean different? “
“Well, she compared 16 year olds to
Roasting chickens taunting boys
with their tanned bodies…
I didn’t dare to tell her, I’m one…
