How do you #RateInvincible?

"Now I'm just wondering why you think... That you can get to me with anything... Seems like you'd know by now... When and how I get down... And with all that I've been through, I'm still around...Don't you ever make no mistake... Baby I've got what it takes... And there's no way you'll ever get to me... Why can't you see that you'll never ever hurt me... 'cause I won't let it be, see I'm too much for you baby..."
This is how MJ's 'last' studio album hits off to conquer the hearts and minds of its public and adorning fans once more. It carries out a strong message either to 'hide' all the 'turmoil' that surrounded the album or a clear 'statement' to let everyone know 'don't mess with me cause I'm still Michael Jackson and I do know what it takes' .

The lasting Impression that "Invincible" gives me is one of being a 'grown up' album lol that clearly put the 'focus' on 'fitting in' to the 2000 style of Music with sadly a 'corrupted' promotion but the idea behind the different colors was simply a 'commercial' one in my point of view now.
"Deceitful eyes, she's got those come get me thighs... She only knows how low that she can go... She speaks the lines that can control my mind... Wherever she goes I know my eyes follow... She blew a kiss, I swear that it was meant... only for me, then spoke with her body... her only goal is just to take control... And I can't believe that I can´t tell her no..."

Yeash, I did buy all the colors as in my 'mindset' back then it was considered more as a collector's item to have them all and when you have to wait 4 years to hear a NEW album you obviously need to get more than one copy so you can play it on all your devices and you have like 'back ups' of his latest gem.
It's also the album where you hear that MJ has like 'matured' his voice and style of songs. Take for example "Break of dawn" or even "2000 Watts" youngsters can just singalong with them but they got like 'hidden' gems locked away in them so you can 'discover' the songs once more when you 'race' through life experiences.

"If I could tear down these walls that keep you and I apart... I know I could claim your heart and our perfect love will start... But girl you just won't approve of the things that I do... When all I do is for you but still you say it ain't cool... "
Although the album hit the N° 1 spot on Billboard 200 and the album sold 'pretty good' (11 Million copies) , the lack of promotion by the Record Company sadly 'killed' the album too soon. You could say, it's like the album of the 'missed chances' or the one that they wanted to 'abandon' as soon as possible though MJ had many ideas and goals to 'kick' this album into orbit again but it was like all the 'fuel' was stolen from under his nose lol.

So, it's hard to believe the Record Company pulled out 25 Million $ to promote "Invincible" while it only generated 3 singles: You Rock My World (11/10/ 2001) ; Cry (3/12/ 2001) and Butterflies (8/02/2002) and only 2 videos as in "You rock my world" and "Cry".
"You're fearing me, 'cause you know I'm a beast... Watching you when you sleep, when you're in bed... I'm underneath... You're trapped in halls, and my face is the walls... I'm the floor when you fall, and when you scream it's cause of me... I'm the living dead, the dark thoughts in your head... I know just what you said... That's why you've got to be threatened by me... "

I would have loved to see what ideas MJ had for 'Unbreakable' and 'Threatened'. Come to think of it, forcing "YRMW" to be released instead of "Unbreakable" is like they just wanted 'to shut him up' as I think that MJ's choice had more 'meaning' to it, letting the world know 'he was still standing' after all the crap and the defamation of his character.
Besides, this I can only assume they chose the 'commercial' path instead to gain more 'sales' and there is where you as 'artist' are torn between what your 'gut' tells you to do and what the 'statistics' show you how to act and 'sell' your product.

"Somebody shakes when the wind blows... Somebody's missing a friend, hold on... Somebody's lacking a hero... And they have not a clue... When it's all gonna end... Stories buried and untold... Someone is hiding the truth, hold on... When will this mystery unfold... And will the sun ever shine... In the blind man's eyes when he cries? "
How do I rate this 'product' then? I would give it a solid 8/ 10. It is one of my fave albums but reconsidering the 'bleeped up' promo and what demo's were 'kicked' out of it, I can't give it the highest mark as it's like 'fitted in' into ONE 'commercial' style and kinda 'misses' the whole 'typical heehee' style we had grown acustomed to by MJ.
