The August 5, 1962 death of 36-year-old Marilyn Monroe was ruled to be "acute barbiturate poisoning" by Dr. Thomas Noguchi of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office and listed as "probable suicide." This didn’t sit well with many people who believed there was a conspiracy behind her death and that the blonde bombshell was murdered.
Now, almost 50 years later, new information has been revealed that could deepen the mystery even further.
Jeff Platts, a 60-year-old sales consultant and the nephew of Marilyn’s famous hair stylist and makeup artist, George Master, wrote to AOL contributor and author of “Marilyn Monroe Dyed Here: More Locations of America's Pop Culture Landmarks” Chris Epting and presented him with a set of recorded conversations from his uncle.
These recordings were a phone conversation between the two men included the following new information regarding the day before Monroe’s death which Platts detailed in his message to Epting:
“George picked Marilyn up at her house and they flew together on Frank Sinatra's private plane to Lake Tahoe. Marilyn spent the evening in the casino with Sam Giancana, the gangster. Early the next morning they flew back to LAX and George drove her home, dropping her off about 9 a.m. It was that night that Marilyn died."
Epting quickly points out that there’s documentation Monroe spent some time at the Cal-Neva Lodge the week before she died, but the day before was never mentioned in any report.
Other bombshell details included in the taped conversations between Platts and Master include:

* “The night before she died, the last time I saw her, was in Lake Tahoe at the Cal-Neva Lodge. She was there with Sam Giancana, who was the head of the Mafia.”
* “Did you know she was pronounced dead, and then they brought her back to the house, and she was still alive, and they took her back to the hospital, and brought her back home, and then the coroners came over, and they found her dead in another bed -- somebody moved her.”
* "And you know how she died? It was an enema. With Nembutal," Masters said. "For the purpose of getting high with the drugs?" Platts asked his uncle. "No," Masters answered. "It was because of the Kennedys. I really think the FBI did it."

The truth of these statements may never be fully confirmed or denied, but one thing is for sure. Even 49 years after her tragic death, Marilyn Monroe continues to captivate us.

Product Description

From January through October 2003, a group of individuals engaged in an in-depth discussion of the death of one of the 20th century's most beloved figures, Marilyn Monroe. The result is The DD Group, the highly detailed work of author David Marshall. It chronicles Monroe’s final day and her tragic and puzzling demise.
Using available information including police reports, vintage magazine and newspaper accounts, documentaries and biographies, and correspondence with some of the principals in the case, the group had one purpose—to reconstruct the events of Monroe's last summer and reach an understanding of what likely took place on August 4, 1962.

By verifying sources, considering agendas, and, above all else, applying logic, the DD Group was able to weed through the conflicting and often contradictory reports. Through careful research and study, they arrived at the most comprehensive understanding of the events surrounding Monroe's disturbing death.
