HISTORICAL DATES
1979 - The Jacksons perform the Destiny World Tour, in Frankfurt, Germany.
1980 - The Jacksons win "Best Singing Group of the Year" at the 12th annual NAACP Image Awards held at the Hollywood Palladium, Los Angeles, CA.
1984 - During the filming of a second Pepsi commercial, Michael suffers second and third degree scalp burns due to a pyrotechnic accident. He is rushed to Cedar Sinai Medical Center, where his arrival causes a media frenzy. He was later moved to Brotman Memorial Hospital for treatment.
1986 - "We Are The World" wins the "Song of the Year" award at the 14th American Music Awards ceremony held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. American Music Award of Appreciation went to Harry Belafonte, who first conceived the idea to create a project for the relief of famine in Ethiopia. On accepting the Award, he called Ken Kragen, Quincey Jones, Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson up on stage to share the Award. At the show's conclusion, most of the celebrities including Diana Ross, Janet & LaToya, reunited with them on stage to sing "We Are The World".
1988 - Michael Jackson continues rehearsals for the BAD World Tour's second leg at the Pensacola Civic Center in Pensacola, Florida.
1989 - Michael performs his 123rd and final show of the BAD World Tour at the Los Angeles Sports Arena ending his tour with arms outstretched and his gaze firmly fixed towards the sky. Bad World Tour figures total 123 concerts to 4.4 million people. The 16 month tour grossed over $125 million, more than any other entertainer had on a single tour. During the tour Michael invited underprivileged children to watch him perform, and contributed to hospitals, orphanages, and other charities.
1990 - Michael Jackson attends there American Cinema Awards with Sophia Loren where she presents him with "The Entertainer Of The Decade" Award.
2004 - Michael Jackson and his ex-wife Debbie Rowe agree to have retired Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephen M. Lachs preside over the case relating to custody and visitation rights for their children.
2012 - Cirque du Soleil opens their 13th Michael Jackson "THE IMMORTAL" World Tour in North America performance at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. Poetically where Michael started to mould the greatest show that no one would ever forget "This Is It"
