HISTORICAL DATES


1973 - Michael receives a nomination for Best Original Song for 'Ben' at the Academy Awards (the Oscars) and performs the song after an introduction by Charlton Heston, at the award ceremonies. The song, however, does not win.

1979 - The Jacksons perform in Dakar, Senegal on their Destiny Tour.

1988 - Michael Jackson performs the first of two nights of his BAD Concerts in St Louis, Missouri.

1988 -The US cable network, Showtime, airs ' Michael Jackson....The Legend Continues.' Michael is one of the executive producers of the program, which includes footage from his entire career. The Legend Continues' received the Cable ACE Award for Outstanding Editing in a Musical Special.

1989 - Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal is chosen for Peoples Favorite Music Video at the 15th Annual People's Choice Awards.

I love Ben, & I am sorry it did not win. It was definitely played a lot on the radio in its day and was popular among the teens.
The Destiny Tour really went global. The brothers must have made a lot of money out of it.
