Moms Mabley's version of this song is my favorite due to her performance of it featured in the doc Whoopi Goldberg did on her. But I'm just learning that a couple people after her made renditions of this song, like Sammy Davis Jr, Marvin Gaye & Whitney Houston performed it a few times. All of that has got me thinking, how come Michael never covered this? You'd think with his genius mind and him being in tune with global politics and the plights people had, that he'd do this song at least once. I think his voice singing that song would've been spectacular.

Oh Lord I love Marvin's version.... His voice is absolutely terrific in it. The only other version I'm aware of that I love is Smokey and the Miracles.

Such a simple beautiful song.
