Praised for her performances like the unforgettable rendition of The Divinyls' 'Boys In Town' to Rihanna's 'Umbrella', Michael Jackson's 'Man In The Mirror', her Big Band double of Nat King Cole's 'Orange Colored Sky' and Ella Fitzgerald's 'How High The Moon', her scope for interpretation and polished delivery has nailed her the winning spot.

"Dick Clark's American Bandstand: 50th Anniversary," various artists (Time Life, $179.94): This mammoth 12-CD set celebrates the legacy of the most significant music program in TV history (yes, even more significant than "American Idol"). "American Bandstand" is definitely pricey, but well worth the outlay of cash. Buying this box set is tantamount to purchasing the ultimate history lesson in popular music, as told by Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and many other all-time great acts.

Q. How did you train to portray Sammy?
A. One of the things I did was work with a Broadway choreographer, Ben Lokey. He was in (Michael Jackson's) "Thriller" video and has just had a lot of high-profile stuff, not to mention being a Broadway dancer and choreographer in Hollywood. I was lucky to be able to work with him.

Make a mix

When you’re planning a party on a dime, the deejay should be one of the first extravagances to go. Instead of hiring a professional, hit the store for some holiday CDs or create your own festive compilations online at www.iTunes.com or www.beatport.com. If holiday music isn’t your thing, stick with foolproof crowd pleasers. Entertaining expert and author Kimberly Schlegel-Whitman suggests artists such as Michael Jackson. “You can never go wrong with him; people always get excited when they hear it come on.”

MY NIGHT AT THE GRAMMYS” will count down the top 25 performances at the Grammy Awards.
The show, which airs at 8 p.m. Friday Nov. 30 on WLTX-19, will feature duets by Prince and Beyonce, Eminem and Elton John, Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand, and songs by Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton and Green Day.
Let’s hope “My Grammy Moment” contest winner Robyn Troup’s medley with Justin Timberlake and T.I. — Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine” and Timberlake’s “My Love” — isn’t revisited.
Michael Jackson’s 1983 performance of “Billie Jean” should be No. 1. (Go to YouTube.com for a refresher.) With the sequined sock, shirt and glove, the high leg kicks and the moon walk, it’s solo performance at its grandest.

The videos made for McCartney's disco hit "Goodnight Tonight" - in which he plays all the musicians (save his late spouse, Linda) of an orchestra whose members constitute a history of pop music - and "Say, Say, Say" (his duet with Michael Jackson) turn a pair of otherwise forgettable songs into something worth watching.

Michael Jackson HIStory:

Thanks for that! I was watching Australian Idol Finale last night and Nat sang Man in the Mirror at the Opera House. God bless that girl (she won the competition) LOL I was so happy she actually sang that song out of all the ones she'd sung on idol. :D
