For any of ya'll bored stuck in the house on a Friday night, two music-related programmes airing on BBC 4 tonight, first one on the life of Marvin Gaye, the other on the 60's era of music (including Motown ^_^)both sound interesting, thought I'd share:

What's Going On...
...The Life and Death of Marvin Gaye
Part of Detroit Night.
Documentary Profile. Marvin Gaye had ground-breaking albums which revolutionised American Soul. Yet his personal life was marred by failed relationships, drug addiction and an abusive father. Interviews with him and those who knew him. Fri 7 Mar, 21:00-22:00 60mins Stereo Widescreen

Subject Factual; Arts
Music; Blues, Soul & Reggae

Motor City's Burning...
...Detroit from Motown to The Stooges
Part of Detroit Night
In 1967 the biggest riot in American history erupted on the streets of Detroit - but it wasn't the only revolution going on. The 60s would see Detroit create music that captured the sound of a nation in upheaval.
In the late Sixties, a rock scene, led by the Motor City 5 and Iggy Pop and The Stooges, created what was to become known as garage rock: music that would change the face of rock 'n' roll for ever, paving the way for punk.
With contributions from Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper, George Clinton, Mary Wilson, Martha Reeves, John Sinclair and MC5. Very strong language. Fri 7 Mar, 22:00-23:00 60mins Stereo Widescreen
