What happened to The Jackson new album?

In the beginning of 2000 there were reports that The Jacksons had recorded a new album through Modern Records and wanted to tour. There were even rumblings that MJ was going to be on the album but there was the question about whether MJ could record on their album due to his Sony contract at the time. But MJ gave statements even in the TV Guide interview that he wanted to be apart of their project. But nothing came of it at all apart from a reunion at MSG for the MJ 30th Anniv. Does anyone know anything more?
