Could Latoya Have Had A Successful Music Career?

I know a lot of people look at Latoya as being a joke, especially when it comes to her music but I bought her first album a few months ago and I was plesantly suprised. I've heard songs of hers from some of her other albums and liked them as well. Latoya is certainly not the best singer, but she's made some catchy songs. I guess I just have a thing for cheesy 80's pop music and 90's dance/house lol, but some of Latoya's music really is not that bad and i've always loved her bubbly personality. To me, she is the most interesting Jackson besides Michael.

Now if you watch this performance and compare it with early performances by Janet when she was first starting out, you'd see that there really isn't much of a difference in terms of natural talent between Latoya and Janet (okay i'll admit that unlike Latoya, Janet could always dance lol), but Janet just happened to hook up with the right people. I've always felt that Latoya did have a lot of potential and if she had worked with the right producers and choreographers she might have had a more successful career.

Latoya doesn't sing any worse than janet, I don't think. She just didn't have the right songs or producer. janets voice is only marginally better than latoya's. I prefer Toya to Janet. She seems more real to me.

Yeah i agree she probably could have been pretty successful if she would have meet up with the right people
On a totally unrelated note i just noticed Michael and Latoya's nose's look almost alike in some of those pictures of them together lol.
 
LaToya's only talent is unhooking her bra!!

Besides she should have know that her music career wasnt going to be successful, you know....being psychic and all! :lol:

Janet found her right match with JJam and TLewis. Latoya needed to find the right people to develop her as an artist.

yeah actually listening to her newer stuff she isn't bad. the songs are pretty catchy. she just has a different tone to her voice and kinda a weird lisp whisper thing when she talks and sings lol

also about her dancing. She could actually dance when she was on the variety show. i was surprised to see that. She just needs great choreographers. I would LOVE to see her on Dancing with the Stars. I mean..if she was up to being a police officer in Muncie Indiana I don't see why she wouldn't want to be on Dancing with the Stars and prove to people that she actually does have talent.

Yet its all true.

Besides I have no respect for someone who makes Press Conferences saying their brother is a sicko when he isnt. I dont care who she was married too, she's her own person and MJ is her brother. (He's My Brother - LaToya Jackson = BAD Rip off, literally it was terrible!)
 
I do not think Michael would appreciate any fan of his disrespecting his sister that he loves very much and was very close to. Latoya did not just speak bad about Michael. She accused her father of sexual abuse and her mother of trying to kill her. Latoya was unstable at the time, because of an abusive husband.
Furthermore, she is not the only one who unbuttons her bra. Janet has done it numerous times, so has a lot of women in the fashion and pop industry, including Elizabeth Taylor. It is called 'Glamour photography'. Only the most beautiful women are ever sought after for those sittings. Latoya was one of them.

It is immature to harbour hate for someone who has made mistakes and redeemed herself with the people she wronged.
This topic is about her career, not her sins.

I have always believed that Latoya should have been a model. She was a fashion icon in her time and she was just too cute. Her playboy magazine broke sales record and remains the biggest seller in history.

Latoya posed for Playboy maggazine. That is not what stripping is. I was trained as a photographer. It is called Glamour photography. It is an art just like any other art. Michael Angelo and many reknown artist had nude people pose for them. People pose in the nude to be painted or photographed. It is art.
 
It's impossible to say if LaToya could have had a successful music career. Though I think she has a few songs that I think could have been Top 20 hits.

That magazine is not art. I know you're defending LaToya, Datsymay, but no way is that magazine art or meant to be art.

I don't care that she posed nude either. but no, I don't think she could have had a successful music career. She's absolutely beautiful, and she danced well on the Jacksons TV show, but that's about it. :) I like LaToya- I think she's a great, strong woman.

Playboy is glamaour photography. Photography is a form of art. I see no difference in the photos Latoya took and the ones Liz Taylor took or the ones Grace Kelly took. They were all nude. The only difference is the name of the magazine. Janet has had way more ranchy pictures than Latoya. She did hers willingly. It doesn't matter anymore, it is in the past. People need to learn to let things go, esp when it doesn't affect our lives. We dwell on negativity too much. Latoya is starting over, and so should we.

Anyway, there have been COUNTLESS discussions on here and on other MJ boards about Latoya and all her troubles with the family, I know some people don't like her because of what she said about Michael, but must we talk about this once again? I'd really like it if this thread could stick to the subject at hand, which is about Latoya's music/career.
 
If Playboy was art, then why do so many boys and men hide it under there bed?

Anyways, about her "music", its all Michaelesque. If either sounds like something MJ would sing, or he's done backing vocals, or his wrote it or its about him. She needs her own identity.

Most men cut out the pictures and post them on their walls at work. The body is always a work of art, nothing dirty in that. Go to the vatican in Rome and their are many pictures of nudity to keep you occupied all day, all the work of Michael Angelo.
 
We'll agree to disagree, but its always been known that Playboy is pornography. Your the first Ive heard to say otherwise. Plus ig it was art, then we'd be allowed to share the pics here but we cant.

Well, maybe one day you will be allowed to share the pictures here, when we all take out minds our of the gutter and start to look at nature in a different way.
Not very long ago women had to wear their frocks down to their ankes and wear a hat on their hears. They would have been considered loose if they showed their ankles. Times sure has changed.

La Toya can't sing. She can dance a little, but nothing spectacular. And as far as I know, she doesn't write or compose. I don't think she ever could have had any kind of real success musically speaking. But I like her a lot, and despite her bubbly-seeming personality, she's clearly very intelligent.
 
You don't have to be able to sing to have a successful music career though as many artists (who shall remain nameless lol) have proven. I think Latoya's light, whispy voice would have been great on 70's disco tracks. I could definitely see her pulling off a song like "More more more". I really think she could have been a successful disco diva.

I don't think music is her thing,her voice is terrible,she could have been a model though.

And Playboy is not completly art, there may be is something artistic about it, because it is photography, but it is a pornographic photography, and the mag is pornographic.
There's other photography, that is called, Nu, i believe, it is often in b&w, and it is not about showing woman's nipples and showing her in a sexy loundry, to get man off, comparing to Playboy.

There are degrees o wht you may call porn and glamour. A naked painting of a young lady could get men off if the lady is body beautiful. It is still classified as art. Playboy is ranchy but it is not exactly porn in the hard sense of the word. I don't think the workplace would have hard porn on display. Latoya was not completely naked, niether did she show her private part, except her breast. That is seen everyday in our daily newspapers here in Britain. It is called, Glamour photography.

She could have have a better career with the right PR etc..
