I have a question for all those long-time veteran fans. Has Michael ever had a vocal node and had to get it removed? I know it's kind of taboo to talk about this in the "vocal land", but I never knew of any report of it. And for those who don't know what vocal nodes are, it's when you use your voice in the harshest terms like a cheerleader yelling all the time, or a singer using his voice in the incorrect fashion. You develop a vocal nodule on your vocal folds and this causes disruption in your glottis and you can't produce the correct sound anymore. You sound hoarse and you certainly cannot sing again until it's removed. Singers usually have to have surgery for this when they use their voices too much or incorrectly.

And mods, if this is considered tapping into his personal affairs, then by all means close this thread.

But I was actually confronted by a friend who told me Michael had a nodule removed at one time. Now I definitely do not trust his word, but I honestly didn't know what to tell him. I was just wondering if anyone here knew a possible answer to this question.

Thanks in advance!

Not that I know of. He's had laryingitis before and other vocal problems. He had some issues during the "Triumph" tour, which led him to start working with Seth Riggs. But as far as I know, he hasn't ever had vocal nodes. I could be mistaken though.

It's in the Visual Documentary that during the Dangerous tour he had to see a specialist for suspected vocal nodules after having some vocal troubles, but that's all that's publicly available info-wise on the subject I think :)
