Michael Jackson Mentions:

Aww... Robin Leach noticed that MJ left Vegas!

* Pop royal Michael Jackson has apparently given up on plans for jump-starting his career with a permanent show here in Las Vegas. He’s moved out of town, and overnight reports from Los Angeles say he’s leased a Bel Air gated estate for at least 12 months. The whopping annual rental of $1.2 million gives him a mansion in the style of a French chateau and comes with 12 fireplaces, 13 bathrooms, a wine cellar and tasting room, a theater and seven bedrooms -- just about the perfect size for Michael and his three kids.

The property was one of the most expensive homes listed for sale in 2008, according to real estate experts, but was taken off the market after Michael signed the $100,000-a-month lease. It’s believed that Michael’s real estate dealings with Las Vegas Hilton owner and Station Casinos investor Tom Barrack of Colony Capital provided him with sufficient monies for the Bel Air mansion. Colony and Michael entered into a joint venture when the pop star moved to Vegas and surrendered title to the Neverland Ranch to develop the 120 acres of Santa Barbara land.

yeah, at the current rate, $100,000 is about the same as €74,000... tells ya somethin scary about the state of the US economy, doesn't it. -_- Is good for European business in the US though (looking at the bright side).

The Akon article - well my German isn't perfect, but it starts out with saying Akon wil help jumpstart Michaels carreer again (duh - like he needs that... oh well, it's the current soundbite I suppose). Then Akon talks about how he couldn't believe it was really Michael when he first called him, he thought his agent was playing a joke on him but then he realized it really was Michael he felt amazed that Michael would call him himself. And finally, he talks about when they were in the studio, one day, Michael said 'let's go to the movies', and Akon wondered - how would they do that without causing a riot? Then Michael simply wrapped a scarf around his head, and his son's head, (it doesn't say whether it was Prince or Blanket) and Akon did the same, and they just walked right into a public movietheatre without anyone making a fuss about them.
Then it goes on to talk about things other than MJ, I didn't read the whole article.

Re: January 9, 2009

hi :waving: happy friday you too :) i'm so happy that weekend is here :jump:

here is website:http://www.djbooth.net/index/tracks...ael-jackson-never-can-say-goodbye-remix/-here is the news :)

here is website:http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/entertainment/Michael+Jackson+moves+back+to+California-61910.html

Michael Jackson moves back to California

Michael Jackson is on the move again, after leasing a new Bel-Air mansion for $100,000 (£71,400)-a-month following his decision to return to California life for the first time since his child molestation trial in 2005.

The pop superstar set up homes in Las Vegas and the Middle East following the lengthy court case and vowed never to return to his Neverland Ranch estate in Santa Barbara, California after it was raided by police, looking for clues to incriminate the singer.

He was acquitted of all charges against him in June, 2005 - and fled the state. But now he's moving back because he wants to be closer to "where all the action is", according to his manager Tohme.

Jackson reportedly surrendered the title of his sprawling 120-acre Neverland estate to the Sycamore Valley Ranch Co., a joint venture between Jackson and an affiliate of Colony Capital LLC.

Re: January 9, 2009

To keep the Motown 50th thread positive and just about the anniversary "celebration", I'm posting this article here instead and FYI. There's some interestin' tidbits in the full article that may be unknown to some...

jackson-5_getty_110668a.jpg

The Jackson 5, another band that started with Berry- Gordy, but moved on, leaving older brother, Jermaine Jackson behind

The murky side of Motown

It is half a century since Berry Gordy Jr created the label that brought soul music into the spotlight. But, says Pierre Perrone, there was a dark aspect
Friday, 9 January 2009

...Not quite everything went according to plan, though. Mary Wells, the First Lady of Motown, who had scored a worldwide hit with "My Guy" in 1964, was unhappy about the contract she had signed four years earlier aged 17, and eventually left the label in 1965. Many more artists defected. The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, la Ross herself all signed to other companies, leaving Stevie Wonder as the only stalwart of Motown's golden age.
..

The joyful, soulful, upbeat Motown sound did change the world, broke down racial barriers and epitomised the American dream. Yet the Hit Factory had too many casualties along the way.
