The Sun is the UKs biggest newspaper and has been giving Michael Jackson a lot of coverage recently in the run up to the 'This Is It' concerts at the O2.

Some of their stories are ridiculous and their sources are often questionanable, but the publicity is getting Michael Jackson's name in the public conciousness again and their stories on the skin cancer rumours may even be winning some hearts and minds across the country - even if they aren't true.

The Sun will publish their stories whether we like them or not, but we do have the opportunity to keep an even representation on their site and show the publishers that there really is pro-MJ support in the public. At present the article comments and discussions board topics are often flooded with negativity from anti-MJ people who believe blindly whatever is printed in the newspapers. BUT there is MJ support there too, though they can often be outnumbered.

As the concerts are approaching fast, I think it's important for us to support Michael Jackson wherever we can, even if it is just a post every now and then. I'm not expecting people here to constantly check there and defend Mike at every free moment, but why not spare a few minutes occassionally?

I can already guess that some people here will say:
"what's the point?"
"Who cares what they say?"
"Sun readers are idiots"
"It won't make any difference"

Well, with such defeatest attitudes then there's no hope for any of us.
As I said, why not try to keep the scores even? Why not show the Sun that there is Michael Jackson support? Why should we sit around in the shadows of the internet, living in our own MJ world, trying to ignore negativity?

We should stand up for ourselves and for Michael Jackson at this particularly important time.

Hopefully if we stand up and be counted, then perhaps Michael Jackson coverage will become generally more positive after the concerts. A positive review of the concerts - aimed at pleasing it's predominantly pro-mj readersip base (i.e. us) - will further help to improve Mike's image here and across the world.

To get started I have posted some links to recent articles and discussions on the Sun website, so please take some time to contribute.

In the old days, when MJNI was around people used to pull together on the MJ boards and often campaigned against negative/innacurate articles and enjoyed some success at the same time. Articles were re-written, though admittedly this often only appeared on a newspapers website as a correction and not in the papers itself, which has already been published. Sometimes articles were removed completely. As a group, MJ fans can still achieve success in showing the media (and others) that we DO know the facts. We DO stand up for ourselves.

P.S Feel free to spread this information to any other MJ message boards you can think of.

I think that its a good idea to protest against such crap!

I have been thinking about any attack against these tabloids sh!ts for a very long time, one of the possibilities is - a mass email - with protests of MJ fans

OR... a massive fan attack on their discussion comments... with protests

Typical, you try something to drum up support from a large group of MJ fans and then a mod dumps it in the relatively unused part of the forum.
What a waste of time and effort.

Can't the mods see that this needs attention, not burying away!!!
