Metro to Detour Numerous Bus Lines due to Street Closures for Michael Jackson Memorial in Downtown Los Angeles

Metro will re-route numerous bus lines as necessary on Monday, July 6 and Tuesday, July 7 because of street closures around the Staples Center due to the planned Michael Jackson Memorial. All Metro patrons should expect delays to all downtown area bus lines and plan for additional travel time.

On Monday, July 6, only lines in the immediate area of Staples Center will be detoured.

On Tuesday, July 7, passengers who get on or off buses inside the area bounded by 7th St., Alvarado St., Washington Blvd. and San Pedro St. in downtown Los Angeles will be required to walk out to one of these streets to use Metro bus services.

Metro patrons should note that changing events during the detour periods might require modifications to routing. All planned bus detours are subject to change. All downtown bus lines, even if not in the detour area will be subject to detours and delays.

Metro Rail services will be operating on regular weekday schedules. Due to the proximity of the event area, Metro Blue Line passengers should note that the Metro Blue Line Pico Station may have to be closed or service may have to be suspended north of the Metro Blue Line Grand Station for unknown periods of time on Tuesday July 7. Metro will make every effort to maintain Metro Blue Line service in this area throughout the day. Metro Blue Line patrons are asked to please plan accordingly.
