for her to say it, it still is. Also, they played the Taco commercial featuring dancers doing MJ's moves.
 
Well missy officially said the Michael Jackson vanguard award. & the comments on YouTube are phenomenal about Michael!

I really appreciate Missy Elliott acknowledging the full name of the award.

As I suspected, MTV did whatever they could to avoid doing the same, so that they can play both sides.
 
Now that Missy finally got one, it's time to give one to Bjork and Busta Rhymes.
I know Bjork isn't as big in the U.S. to the mainstream world, but she's made a big enough impact with her videos to get that recognition.

Yeah that's pretty weird. I have a feeling they may try to "fix" this soon, so I went ahead and downloaded the video to preserve it.
 
On the youtube and others I see, they are showing Missy saying MJ's name. I will watch a repeat of the actual show but still Missy said it on the MAIN SHOW and that is what matters. many people will not watch the repeat days after. I am still happy though MTV put MJ name when they announce who was going to get it and MJ name is still on the actual award. And it will ALWAYS be MICHAEL JACKSON Video award no matter what. That is a done deal even if they do not say, people still KNOW.

Page Six first reported last month that MTV was considering dropping Jackson's name from the VMAs' Video Vanguard Award in wake of the Leaving Neverland sexual molestation controversy. But MTV, which renamed the award in his honor in 1991, called it the "Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award" on Aug. 12 in announcing that Missy Elliott would be this year's recipient. Yet Monday's VMAs ceremony omitted Michael Jackson's name in presenting the award, even though Elliott said in her acceptance speech: "The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award means so much to me." MTV's YouTube video of Elliott's speech also omits Jackson's name. Yet MTV's website on Monday described Elliott as "the newest recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award." MTV has yet to comment on the VMAs omission.
