Thank goodness when Motown did that documentary celebrating 60 years, it went to Showtime. What HBO did was not surprising at all. Just about everyone would not know about the Apollo Theater if it wasn't for Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5. History will not be erased, no matter how hard they try!

‘Apollo 11’ Wins Top Prize at Critics’ Choice Documentary Awards (Not related to doc. about the Apollo theatre!)

Apollo 11” has been named the best nonfiction film of 2019 at the fourth annual Critics’ Choice Documentary Awards, which took place on Sunday evening at BRIC in Brooklyn, New York.

The chronicle of NASA’s 1969 moon mission won five awards in total, topping all other films at the ceremony voted on by film and television critics and journalists in the Critics’ Choice Association.

“Apollo 11” won in the Best Documentary Feature category that also included “American Factory,” “The Biggest Little Farm,” “The Cave,” “Honeyland,” “The Kingmaker,” “Knock Down the House,” “Maiden,” “One Child Nation,” “They Shall Not Grow Old” and the two-part HBO documentary series “Leaving Neverland.” (The Critics’ Choice rules do not differentiate between film and television docs.)

In other awards, “Apollo 11” won for science/nature documentary, “Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am” for biographical documentary, “Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice” for music documentary, “American Factory” for political documentary, “Maiden” for sports documentary and “Apollo 11” for archival documentary.

Are All Seasons of The Simpsons on Disney Plus?

Not quite, but most of them are. At the moment Seasons 1 through 30 of The Simpsons are on the streaming service, meaning that Disney+ has the largest collection of Simpsons content of any major streaming service. The only season that’s missing is the currently running Season 31.

But there is one episode out of The Simpsons’ 30 seasons that won’t be coming to Disney+. In March it was announced that the Season 3 episode “Stark Raving Dad” would be pulled from the service. The episode featured Michael Jackson as the voice of Leon Kompowsky. In the wake of HBO’s explosive docuseries Leaving Neverland, Matt Groening, James L. Brooks, and Al Jean decided to pull the episode from streaming.

I just felt I should post it here so people are aware that it's not on Disney+ in case they planned to watch it there.

It seems this is backfiring though as people are disappointed that it's missing. There's also disappointment over the show being cropped to widescreen instead of being left in letterbox as this has resulted in certain visual jokes being ruined, so there's some backlash on more than just the one episode missing.

I considered when “Winnie The Pooh” is added, but I changed my mind out of disgust that “Stark Raving Dad” episode is not included so I’m not touching Disney+ anyways.

Ummm, So About That Michael Jackson Episode of The Simpsons... Don't Expect to Find It on Disney+

Disney+ is all of 48 hours old and has already suffered its first casualty.

As Staff Writer Tonja Renée Stidhum reported on Tuesday, the newly launched streaming service might be brimming with nostalgia and “outdated cultural depictions”, but one thing you won’t find on there is the infamous “Stark-Raving Dad” episode of The Simpsons that featured the Thriller-maker himself, Michael Jackson.

Tech Radar notes this shouldn’t come as a surprise, however, considering that the powers that be yanked the episode off the air in March in light of the sexual assault allegations leveled against Jackson in HBO’s jaw-dropping documentary, Leaving Neverland.

“It feels clearly the only choice to make,” executive producer James L. Brooks said at the time. “The guys I work with—where we spend our lives arguing over jokes—were of one mind on this.”

But that doesn’t mean fans of the show—or of Michael—are taking this news lightly. In fact, many aren’t only offering critiques, but pointing out the perceived hypocrisy of this decision:
