Shouldn't people be happy that Michael is innocent? Shouldn't they be happy that no children were actually hurt? Why do people want Michael to be guilty so bad? Is it because if he's innocent they can't make dumb pedophile jokes anymore? Or is it because they have a hard time admitting they were wrong? These people claim to stand for victims of abuse, but when in MJ's case there are no victims they act disappointed when they should be thrilled no child was hurt.

Most people are happy but people focus on haters. It is all of these above. media do it to sell papers and get clicks. Where is the Guardian on Mac's interview? no where; but a liar, the Guardian/Vanity Fair, will post that liar.

By the way why are there only two women didn’t he have 80 accusers or something like that? I admit I have not been following the case very well.
 
Statue of limitations. Report about the closing arguments on the news last night.other than that theres hardly been any reports about the actual testimony etc. Anyone would think the media were trying to keep it quiet. You know what. if it pi!#$/off the me too lynch mob I'll take an aquital.

Goes the show the media does not care about issue, they care about what bring in ratings. Look how Michael was treated during his trial compare to Weinstein. MJ was covered almost 24/7 even breaking news into shows/programs and re enactiment show; Weinstein, you hear something every now and then of what going on.

That's the most common reason I think. It's hard to realise they were wrong for decades and contributed to the wrongful treatment of someone innocent, so it's easier for most to cling on their conviction than to reevaluate it according to the obvious. Unfortunately they have an easy task as they are continously reinforced by the MSM every time facts would challenge their believes.

Then there are the haters who can now freely hate again. Compare this to the time after MJ's death when people's love for him outburst: haters (including the media) remain silent and hid their hatred as it wasn't a field day anymore to bash MJ (before they thought they were the majority, but now they had to realise they were just loud and with platform). It must have been a sort of intimidating experience for them, but now they feel they are allowed and backed up by power again to be loud with their hatred.

And of course there are the more shady cases: using MJ as a smokescreen to protect powerful figures with the MSM willfully or blindfully obeying and doing the job.

And yep, those most shadiest who are throwing stones to hide their hands, who are projecting and living out their fantasies through this case. A real journalistic job would have been to realise LN's very problematic nature in this extent from the get go and ask the question: what's the need/purpose/target audience for including very graphic details (which would be clearly considered CP in every other form, as it is in the case of Gutierrez's book)?

There was also a $25 million settlement a few months ago, which most of the women accepted. I guess they just got the money that they wanted and disappeared.

But I'm sure that the accusers knew that would be the case when they made the accusations publicly.

Maybe more facts will come out and we'll get a better picture of things though. It would be nice if there was a place to go to get the facts (instead of relying on the media) like we had for Michael's trial.
 
Possible for some yes. Some z listers prob saw as a pay day opportunity.but of course theres been many A listers accuse him aswell. The footage someone posted of courtney love from the 90's says alot. No doubt everyone in the industry knew what he was like.i guess mj was a good distraction
 
Difficult to know the possible proportion (if any) of false claims, but it seems that the 'Boy Scouts of America' is filing for bankruptcy over CSA claims. Interesting that '1in6', the organisation most closely associated in supporting Robsome and Safecheck, was appointed as advisor to the Association 'to expand their services and better support the needs of victims'.

Unfortunately these kinds of 'mass abuse' findings affect public perception of adult/ child interactions in general, so may colour press and social media discussion of the claims against MJ.

Boy Scouts of America files for bankruptcy amid hundreds of sexual abuse lawsuits

The Boy Scouts of America has filed for bankruptcy, according to a court document filed in Delaware bankruptcy court early Tuesday.

The youth organization, which celebrated its 110th anniversary February 8, listed liabilities of between $100 million and $500 million, but $50,000 or less in assets.
The bankruptcy filing comes at a time when the organization faces hundreds of sexual abuse lawsuits, thousands of alleged abuse victims and dwindling membership numbers. As a result of the filing, all civil litigation against the organization is suspended.

Paul Mones, a Los Angeles-based attorney representing "hundreds of sexual abuse victims in individual lawsuits," called the organization's bankruptcy filing a "tragedy."

"These young boys took an oath. They pledged to be obedient, pledged to support the Scouts and pledged to be honorable. Many of them are extremely angry that that's not what happened to them and the Boy Scouts of America did not step up in the way they should have," Mones said.

The BSA faced hundreds of lawsuits from alleged sexual abuse victims across the country -- all of which are now suspended because of the bankruptcy filing.
Several of the lawsuits allege repeated fondling, exposure to pornography, and forced anal or oral sex. In response, the BSA said at the time that they "care deeply about all victims of child abuse and sincerely apologize to anyone who was harmed during their time in Scouting." They added that they were "outraged that there have been times when individuals took advantage of our program to abuse innocent?children."

"We believe victims, we support them, we pay for?counseling by a provider of their choice and?we encourage them to?come forward. It is?the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) policy that all incidents of suspected abuse are reported to law enforcement," the organization said.

Last April, exposed court testimony showed the organization believed more than 7,800 of its former leaders were involved in sexually abusing more than 12,000 children over the course of 72 years.

Mones, who was part of a legal team that won a $18.5 million verdict against BSA for former Scout and sexual abuse victim Kerry Lewis in 2010, said Monday that instead of potentially having their day in court, alleged victims who had pending lawsuits will now need to file claims in bankruptcy court.

"The Catholic bankruptcies are limited in geographic scope. Here there will be claimants from all 50 states and the American territories," Pfau said. "We can talk about files and numbers, but in reality if you step back and realize the scope of the human carnage, it's stunning."

....................... Last week, the organization announced a partnership with 1in6, a leading organization for male survivors of sexual abuse, to expand their services and better support the needs of victims.

"We sincerely apologize to anyone who was harmed in Scouting," BSA CEO and President Roger Mosby said in announcing the partnership. "In addition to implementing strong policies to prevent abuse, we are dedicated to supporting victims when and how they need it."
For alleged victims, however, the organization's bankruptcy filing may represent another institution that failed to protect them and is avoiding taking responsibility for the abuse that happened under its watch.

"We need to make sure we receive some accountability and if (bankruptcy court) is how we have to do it, then so be it," Pfau said.

Many of those cases were proven. That is the difference with MJ. MJ still was treated far worst and more investigated.
 
So apparently Zoe Kravitz called MJ a CA on her new Hulu show. It boggles my mind how we can still have people that think this way. And really, I wish something like this were to happen to them. Have someone out of the blue accuse them of terrible stuff and people just left and right believing it without question.

All she had to do was do some little bits of research on these two assholes and see who the real victim is. **** her then, it's that simple.

Sadly Paris apparently follows her. Can't imagine her being exactly thrilled with such BS about her own dad.

Wow, so apparently MJ just sang stuff that Quincy came up with, no input from him whatsoever. I also love how they specifically chose an oblivious white woman to be the one doing "defending" when WOC are the ones accusing MJ of paedophilia because you know, that's how it is in the real world apparently.
Tbh when I first heard of the whole controversy I though that maybe it was blown out of proportion and it was just some passing comment. After all, why would showrunners write an entire scene whose only point is slander of a deceased artist? I stand corrected, guess I should expect more malice out of people. Also, haven't seen the whole show, but I can't imagine a setting when this one scene wouldn't seem completely out of place and unauthentic. Has anyone ever met with similar problem when buying MJ's work/merchandse? I don't think so, the whole idea that every sane person knows MJ was a CA and the those few in denial can only offer some weak defense of "apparently" is a sick fantasy of sad, morally bankrupt writers. The only time I ever witnessed people accusing MJ irl was during a casual dscussion and they quickly backed off when it became apparent they're ignorant on the subject.
It's sad to see, because pop culture has a massive power when it comes to formin opinion of it's consuments. Younger viewers who haven't read much into the case will take their word for granted and just run with it until someone challenges them.

Well, he didn&#8217;t quite &#8220;make it&#8221;, or else he wouldn&#8217;t have to sue MJ&#8217;s companies over ridiculous claims. :laughing:

I was impressed with Omer&#8217;s performance. Will have to check out some of his work. :)
 
Other TV companies are pulling out of KM contracts, which I'd think means that there is not much chance of them recovering from here, even if the court doesn't impose a 'winding up' order:

Endemol Shine Group Cancels Kew Media Contracts, As Channel 5 Co-Production Deal Breaks Down

EXCLUSIVE: Endemol Shine Group and ViacomCBS network Channel 5 have become the latest companies to sever ties with Kew Media Distribution (KMD) as the embattled TV sales house edges closer to collapse.

KMD was responsible for selling Agatha And The Curse Of Ishtar and Agatha And The Death of X (working title), a pair of Agatha Christie-inspired dramas Channel 5 commissioned from Endemol Shine producer DSP. But Endemol Shine terminated the distribution deals last month and is in the process of handing the contracts over to Endemol Shine International.

The Agatha dramas formed part of a three-year co-production deal KMD inked with Channel 5 in September 2018, under which the distributor fronted a chunk of the production fee on selected scripted projects in exchange for taking international rights. Channel 5 does not expect to draw on the financing arrangement again, meaning the deal is effectively dead.

Deadline understands that around six dramas were funded under the co-production agreement, and a number of the producers involved are seeking to extricate themselves from the KMD distribution contracts, much like Endemol Shine. This includes Chalkboard TV, which made the critically acclaimed Cold Call, and Clink producer LA Productions.

Sources have said that the producers involved are not out of pocket. The Channel 5 co-production deal was structured so that KMD recouped its costs first, and then took a fee on international sales after breaking even. It is understood that none of the Channel 5 projects reached the stage where they were cash positive. Furthermore, any agreed sales should be passed over by KMD to a new distributor.

As Deadline revealed earlier this month, KMD is on the precipice of closure as it stares down the barrel of a winding-up order. A court will decide next month if the company is liquidated and its assets sold off. It follows KMD&#8217;s parent company, Kew Media Group, being delisted from the Toronto Stock Exchange last month after defaulting on its credit facility because it filed &#8220;inaccurate&#8221; financial information.

Like Endemol Shine, other companies are seeking to untangle themselves from KMD. This includes Amos Pictures, which used KMD to sell HBO/Channel 4 film Leaving Neverland internationally.
